Report: Darren Aronofsky added to the list of directors for Chris Nolan’s “Superman”…

“The Wrestler” and “Black Swan” director, Darren Aronofsky, has been added to the list of candidates to direct the next “Superman” movie. Collider, reports. I like this pick too. Why did Chris Nolan pick Aronofsky along with the other directors listed? While Aronofsky never did a superhero comic book movie before, I think Chris got interested in him because of his dramatic feel with, “The Wrestler”. That movie “The Wrestler”, did have a classic Christopher Reeve “Superman” feel, if you know what I mean. Darren mostly wrote and directed his own movies. He must be on board for this opportunity if he accepted to be on the list of candidates, so Darren must be a Superman fan. I remember Darren had plans to do a Robocop remake but those plans has been canceled.

I’m sure Chris will add a few more candidates of directors to the list. Who would I like to see get added?

Richard Donner, Robert Zemeckis, Jon Favreau, Gavin Hood (X: Men Origins “Wolverine” director), and Sam Raimi.

Report: Christopher Nolan finally speaks on the new “Superman” project!!!

Christopher Nolan has been pretty quiet ever since jumping aboard to mentor the new “Superman” movie for Warner Bros. Now Chris Nolan finally speaks out about the project to the L.A. Times. The story and plot to the next “Superman” movie is NOT being revealed and being kept under wraps for now, but Nolan and the writer, David Goyer, already have a great story planned out. David Goyer have been confirmed the writer for the next, “Superman” movie, but they shoot down rumours of Lex Luthor and Brainiac as the next villains. Who will be the next villain for Superman? Nobody knows yet. Lex Luthor will probably be involved in some way as he always is, but there will probably be more villains.

Nolan says, the next film will NOT be like Bryan Singer’s “Superman: Returns”, it’ll be their own take on it. Nolan says he knows the Superman character very well and knows the genre very well. Something tells me he’s been reading Superman and Batman comics for years ever since he was a child. Nolan the comic book expert he is, indeed. No wonder Warner Bros. wanted him to help!

Nolan says they will make the next Superman movie right and promises Hollywood they won’t be disappointed with this one.

Very cool. I’m so excited for the next Superman movie. For a villain they should really use a villain that hasn’t been used before in the earlier films. Brainiac is a good idea.

Other popular Superman comic book villains that hasn’t been used yet for a film: Doomsday, The Toyman, Parasite, Imperiex, Eradicator, Bloodsport, and Atomic Skull.

It will be interesting to see what villains Nolan and Goyer will pick. Lets hope it won’t be Luthor or General Zod.

Thought: About Warner Bros. giving Superman the reboot and going for a darker tone…

So the president of Warner Bros. films gave “Superman” films a reboot a go. It is official, it’s a done deal, and signed. Superman starting over again in the series is definitely happening. Of course, this move was inspired nothing other than “The Dark Knight” getting a huge box office success.

I’m reading blogs and message boards about “Superman” getting a reboot, and many Superman fans are not happy with this idea at all. Remember, a “reboot” is NOT a “remake”. It’s a series starting over again just like Batman and James Bond are doing right now. Now Superman is heading toward that direction.

This move was also because of Bryan Singer’s “Superman Returns” not being much of a box office smash. It was still a hit and successful but not as successful as “The Dark Knight” was.

My thoughts on this?

Man, I’d say go for it!!! Seriously!!! I’ve been looking for a much darker tone in Superman for many years. Maybe that is why “Superman IV: The Quest For Peace” sucked so hard and why “Superman: Returns” wasn’t that much of a hit in box office.

I loved “Superman: Returns”, don’t get me wrong, but it had too much romance and storytelling when it needs to have more action and darkness.

You don’t like Superman getting a darker tone, eh? Have you ever seen Superman III? Well, that was the darkest Superman movie of the entire series. Superman getting turned into a villain and it’s Clark Kent vs. Superman in like half of the movie, later in the film, Superman gets attacked by this woman who gets trapped into this computer machine, then she turns into a machine herself.

If you so called Superman fans stop and think, get your facts straight, many Superman comics really did have some really dark stories. I just think Warner Bros. want to adapt some Superman stories from the darker comics ’cause there are some.

Remember, Superman is not always about being good, happy and saving people all of the time. The character did have his dark moments. Sure, no one can see the Superman movies continuing without Christopher Reeve and people think the new Superman flicks will never live up to the first four, but come on people. It is not the 80’s anymore and Christopher Reeve died in real life.

Christopher Reeve himself would want Warner Bros. to continue the Superman movies without him. And back in the Chris Reeve days of Superman, they never had all that CGI and computer effects back then. It’s time for Superman films today to start using that stuff to make Superman more realistic. There was always something dark about Superman and I really am looking forward to see what WB’s can do with the reboot.

A darker Superman movie would be really good if they did it right. What I’m saying is, I’m all for it. Bring it on. While I’m sure the news of the reboot is pissing Bryan Singer off since he already started working on his sequel to “Superman: The Man of the Steel”, WB’s might ditch Singer’s project now and have a totally different and new Superman movie.

I want a Superman movie that is done right and done good. Good acting, good writing, good action. All of it. If they can pick a really good actor to play Superman/Kent and Lex Luthor, it could be just as big as “The Dark Knight”. And having a villain other than Lex Luthor would be great too. Imagine how much of a thrill ride and edge of your seat action would be if Brainiac or Doomsday were the villains in the next one?

I’m cool with the reboot. Anything based on Superman is ok in my book as I’ve been a die hard fan of the character for years. I like Superman more than Batman to be honest.
