Thought: Scarlett Johansson could be the first successful actor turned singer…

Lets see, the Bacon Brothers failed in music. Steven Segal failed in music. Billy Bob Thornton failed in music. The same goes for Russell Crowe and Bruce Willis who are also musicians. Has there ever been a successful hollywood actor turned musician in the music industry? I don’t think there ever was.

Scarlett’s upcoming album “Anywhere I Lay My Head” has been getting a lot of buzz lately. She sings Tom Waits songs on it. And you can betcha there’s going to be plenty of die hard Tom Waits fans out there that will be curious to hear her album. Her fans of her films will also buy it definitely and David Bowie fans also. So the album will definitely sell well.

I listened to that “Falling Down” track like over 10 times yesterday and couldn’t get over how great it was, the song sent chills down my spine. Scarlett does sing for real as she did a singing segment in her film “Lost in Translation” during the karoake scenes. I never really get all that excited for upcoming music albums, but I’m looking forward to picking this one up. I’m itching to hear more songs off that album now.

  1. I agree Scrlett J.’s new CD is great. But why do you have to say nasty stuff about my band? I’ve made a very comfortable living in the music business since 1968, The Bacon Brothers band has been around for 13 years and we’re completing our 6th CD. We sell out almost everywhere we go. Let me guess..you’ve never heard our music? Listen to Angelina, White Knuckles, Flowers, Swing Low, Unhappy Birthday then write an “honest opinion”.

  3. Michael Bacon, if that’s really you, thanks for replying. I’ve heard of the Bacon Brothers, with you and iconic actor Kevin Bacon in the band. In my post, I have nothing against these actors who are musicians. I think you misintrepreted my blog entry here. I’ve actually heard some of your music but honestly I couldn’t get into it.

What I was saying in this blog with those actors having failed music careers is that they all never got recognized as a mainstream artist, that’s what I’m talking about. Scarlett has a chance in becoming a household name in the music industry.

If I come off sounding a bit nasty to you, I apologize, sometimes I just go off in a rant and being honest about the music industry. Thanks, and good luck to you and Kevin in your music career.

I am a big fan of Kevin Bacon’s movies though.

  5. I agree that Falling Down will send chills down your spine, but not Scarlett’s version. Waits puts the emotion into the song that it deserves.I assume you are not a Tom Waits fan. Go buy Big Time and listen to Tom Waits version. Scarlett is flat and lacks any feeling. Not even David Bowie could save that track. Maybe next time she could cover the Bacon Brothers music.
