Thought: 5 Legendary bands/artists who deserve to be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame…

So we’re talking legendary bands and artists of who haven’t yet been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame that I think who deserves it.

Here are 5 that I think deserves to be inducted by now:

Metallica

(Like Metallica or not, they are one of the biggest bands in America, they’ve been around long enough that they qualify to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. They had quite a career ride, made many successful albums, they are the biggest touring bands of all time. I think it’s about time that these boys deserve it)

Nirvana

(I’m not saying this because of Kurt Cobain’s suicide, it’s a fact that Nirvana is Hall of Fame worthy. I think it would be awesome as hell seeing Dave Grohl and Krist Novaselic on stage honoring the music of Nirvana at a Hall of Fame show, these guys were one of the biggest bands in the 90’s and they changed history in the 90’s, this is why Nirvana deserves it)

Ozzy

(Black Sabbath was once inducted into the Hall of Fame, but Ozzy’s solo music wasn’t. It’s about time for the Prince of Darkness to get in, dontcha think?)

“Weird” Al Yankovic

(Call me crazy, but yes, Weird Al is hall of fame worthy. A lot of the artists that Al Yankovic parodied songs from never knew they were big and famous until Weird Al parodied their music. This man, hands down, deserves an induction. This man had quite a career ride. He’s been around since the 80’s, he does it all and he’s one of the most extremely hard working musicians out there. He’s goes on extensive long tours all year round every album he does, he has a real live band, he even writes original songs. He produces his own albums. There are so many reasons why this man deserves it. He is a legend and an icon)

Pantera

(I’m a 100% sure this band is gonna get an induction down the road, it wouldn’t surprise me if this happened at the next Hall of Fame show)

  1. Ozzy already has one from Black Sabbath, and it’s the only time in his life that his music amounted to anything decent (and that’s only because he had a killer band behind him – Tony Iommi and Geezer Butler RULE!) Pantera is too obscure, and Weird Al is just plain novelty. His fifteen minutes should have been over with Doctor Demento. Metallica WILL probably get one, and they sure do deserve it as much as I can’t stand them (robots could be programmed to churn out the same noise they do.) But Metallica was hella influential, even if the bands that they influenced suck worse than they do. As for Nirvana, there is a 25 year rule, you must have started your career 25 years or more earlier to get a nomination. This rules Nirvana out for the next six or seven years.

I guess it doesn’t matter what true rock and roll fans like you and me say anyway. They dis the Monkees year after year and then induct Madonna or Grandmaster Flash, who aren’t even rock and roll. I’m not saying Madonna or GF don’t deserve an award, it just shouldn’t be for rock and roll. Let the pop whores and the rappers make their own halls of fame dammit. I think T Rex should be in there, glam rock isn’t represented at all except for Bowie, and I never really thought of him as glam. Or how about Slade, the Scottish band that wrote all of Quiet Riots hits ten years earlier? Is Joan Jett in there yet? She’s been influencing bean flickers for 30+ years now!

  3. “Weird Al” is deffinitely Hall of Fame material. He’s a musical genius, and yeah, an extremely hard worker.

Response to a comment: Mike Reznor, do you have any idea how successful Al is? Obviously not. Al is as ‘novelty’ as underpants- he’ll be around forever!! Though, Mr. Reznor, I’m sure you’re too much of a “true rock and roll fan” to wear something as novelty as underpants… well, to each his own. If you want to go commando-style without the joy of Al-aholism, that’s your own business. 🙂

  5. I’m astounded Metallica isn’t in there– good call. I can take or leave Ozzy, and Nirvana is definitely worthy, but too soon.

I strongly agree with Al Yankovic being inducted. He’s provided a totally unique (and in my opinion, much-needed) commentary on the rock/pop scene for almost 30 years. His parodies are lyrical masterpieces and his polka mix-ups musical and satirical genius. People always seem a little embarrassed to admit they like Weird Al– why? The man’s got chops and has earned his niche. The Beatles may have been right when they said “All you need is love”, but it’s equally true that everybody loves a laugh. So go, Al! You’ve got my vote.

  7. Slade? Scottish? Hahaha Mr Reznor. Slade are from Solihull near Birmingham in the very heart of England. They couldn’t be less Scottish if they tried.
“Weird Al” in the Hall of Fame? Yes.. why not? He’s versatile, entertaining and he rocks harder than a very VERY hard thing if you know what I mean. …………..

Seriously, if you have never been to one of his live shows you have no clue how hard that band can rock out.
He has certainly been unique and has contributed a whole new dimension to rock music, the ability to laugh and have a bit of fun with it all. I think that is more than just a “significant contribution” I think thats is a cornerstone of what being entertaining is all about. Every member of that band is a multi-instrumentalist of the highest caliber and ADDITIONALLY they can play in every and all styles and genres convincingly and can still make us laugh as well
The whole set up with Weird Al and his band is Gold and the USA really ought to be treasuring him for the fine asset he is to music worldwide, not just at home.
Sure he needs to be inducted in to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. STAT!

  9. You don’t know the TRUE genius of Weird Al until you have seen him live. he actually PLAYS the songs! its not just the track of the original song with Al’s lyrics. Sometimes Al’s version is BETTER sounding than the original!
I would love to see him go tot he hall of fame. he deserves it!
