Thought: About Stallone starring as Batman in “The Dark Knight Returns”…

Yes, I think I did read “The Dark Knight Returns” graphic novel when I was a kid back in high school. I think I still have that book laying around somewhere, I’ll have to look for it today.

Now that I think about it, Stallone, would be perfect for Batman in “The Dark Knight Returns” film, I totally agree now.

If you know the plot to “The Dark Knight Returns”, the graphic novel is about an “aging” Bruce Wayne/Batman. Bruce Wayne is sad, depressed and angered by the death of the second Robin and Bruce becomes an alcoholic. Think how Sly would be perfect that type of Bruce Wayne role. Now I can totally see why Frank Miller would want Sly.

Sly is really into researching “aging” men in their 50’s as you all know and if this Batman novel gets made into a film, Sly would love this idea. Sly as an aging Batman would be great.

Would Arnold work as Batman? Nah. Arnold is too tall and his mouth isn’t right for the mask. Sly’s the perfect fit. Maybe Sly Stallone himself should pick up the rights for “The Dark Knight Returns” so Sly can write and direct/star in the film himself. I hope this movie happens.

  1. Well I’ve just written a similar post on the Dark Knight Returns and had you pop up as a randomly generated link. Small world.

Basically my blog says (in a nutshell) that I worked on Batman Begins back in the day and heard that 3 or 4 years prior (so late 90’s) The Dark Knight Returns was nearly greenlit with Clint Eastwood in the role.

    That would have been something.

  3. Mickey Rourke would be the best for the lead. Directed by Christopher Nolan, written by Frank Miller and Chrisopher Nolan, produced by Robert Rodriguez. The Joker should be Steve Buscemi, Dr. Wolper Jeff Bridges, Ellen Yindel should be Tara Reid, and fit John Goodman in ther somewhere (Gordon?) for a Big Lebowski reunion.

Which brings up another amazing option: Written, directed and produced by The Coen Brothers! =D
