RIP: Marilyn Monroe 1926 – 1962

This post is not going to be about her death or her personal problems, it’s going to be a positive thing. About celebrating her great career. When I visited Los Angeles last year in Hollywood, it inspired me to get into Marilyn Monroe movies more. I started watching her films this year, and pretty much watched most of her films in her filmography. I even saw all the ones where she had small cameos in. What are my top 5 Marilyn flicks, out of all the ones I’ve watched?

In no particular order: “Some Like It Hot”, “Gentlemen Prefers Blondes”, “Niagra”, “The Seven Year Itch”, and “Bus Stop”.

There’s still a few more I need to see like “Prince and the Showgirl” and “Don’t Bother to Knock” (which both of these are listed on my DVD rental que for Netflix). I still need to see “The Misfits”, too and that DVD is hard to find.

This woman is so inspiring that she makes me wish I was around the time she was alive. Her career was pretty important in the movie industry. She didn’t become a legend for nothing. No matter how long ago she was around, she’ll inspire people forever.
