Improving my guitar playing and musicianship…

As I said before, I know I’m not the greatest guitar player in the world. Other professional musicians have told me I’m pretty good and they said I know what I’m doing in music, but I’m not afraid to say that I still have a lot of work to do. I still have a lot of theory stuff to learn, still learning timing & rhythm patterns, and I need to train my ear better. All that stuff. I’m trying to learn to play more professionally, that’s my goal. I want to get better with my ear in music, ’cause I want to jam. I’m a huge fan of guitar solos and long 10 minute to 20 minute guitar jams, and that’s the kind of stuff I want to do when I get my own band. Not necessarily be a jam band, but a rock n’ roll band who loves to rock out. I kind of want the band to be similar to Led Zep or Hendrix but with my own style and sound. Someday I would like to start jamming with real musicians just so I can test out my skills and that’ll be great ear training that way.

When playing rock guitar, I don’t like to use too many effects. I just use overdrive, so I can have a little crunch. Have a natural rock sound, and not have too much distortion. You’ve heard me do it before. I like that old school 70’s rock sound ’cause I listen to a lot of 70’s classic rock. That’s where most of my playing influenced from. Yes, I do listen to newer and current music, but I am more of a classic rock guy more than anything. I don’t care to make party music or hit singles, I just make music, that’s it.

I will get a band going someday, when I’m ready. Whenever I say to people, I want to form a band, people either think I can’t do it or they just don’t care. Yet, they respect other bands and other talent more than my own music. I’ve been trying my very best to be accepted as an actual musician, and I believe I’m just about there. I just need to work a little harder.

I’m getting the hang of things too. Music theory isn’t that hard and ear training isn’t that hard either. The key to having a good ear in music is memorizing the sound of the notes in your head and to get better at it is sing along to every note you play on the guitar. Memorize that sound. It maybe hard to do at first but with practice you’ll get it. Recording your own chords and jamming leads over it helps too. I’m trying to become better at lead guitar. I do want to be a great lead guitar player someday that will melt people’s faces. That’s the kind of guitar player I want to be. And I will get there someday, trust me. I’m learning scales and all that stuff. It’s awesome learning guitar.

  1. I’m dissappointed you chose to close all comments for the Royals stuff. It sends a message that your point can’t hold up to debate. Plus you say you encourage debates on this site so don’t think you really do.

Your argument is like saying it’s a woman’s fault if a man lifts her dress up and looks under it. You’ve lost this debate. It’s ok. No one wins every debate. Admitting it shows you handle yourself like a mature adult.

You should also know that you’re using the term “stand corrected” incorrectly. It means the opposite of what you think. Look it up.

And just in case you consider this comment a personal attack on you, it’s not. I’m pointing out specific actions you’ve taken here that I don’t agree with, and why. You say you don’t feel like debating with a brick wall, but you’re not fooling anybody. You know the things you said about right to privacy are wrong, and that you really do stand corrected…by me. You should own up to things like that if you’re going to run a site like this, don’t you think?

    1. LOL! Why are people starting to come to my site thinking they win debates? I’ve said it before, when people come to this site to start a debate with me, I always win. I will always find a way to get my point across. I close the comments on all the Royal stuff ’cause the debate was getting no where, just back and forth repeating and the other guys will want to think they’re right all of the time, no matter what I said. I’ll admit that I used “stand corrected” wrong, but it’s edited now. This is my site, I control it, how I please.

Yes, invasion of privacy is wrong, I get that, but you can’t deny that what the Royals did was their fault, completely. If Kate wanted to sunbath outside, she should have put a bikini top on.

I close posts for a reason to end the discussions and move on. I hate it when people comment on another post to say something. Stay on topic with the original post of this blog entry. Just wanted to give my last thoughts on the Royals photo controversy and yes, I still stand by it.

I don’t blame all stalking and invasive of privacy on all women, but I’m just trying to point out the fact that not all of them are innocent in everything and some of them should take the blame. My last response to this.

      1. By closing comments your actually admitting that people are owning you during these debates. The only way for you to “win” when you’re wrong is to admit when you are wrong. Closing comments is the most embarrassing thing you can do to yourself. Yes it’s your site, but you invite the public to weigh in on the topics you bring up.

Oh yeah, and good job for getting better at guitar. Keep it up.

      2. I never said I was wrong and never will. Both sides are pretty opinionated and that includes me. The things I said were my opinion. That’s all.
