In a radio interview, Jason Bonham, the man himself explains the real reason Robert Plant, doesn’t want any part of the Led Zeppelin reunion, even though the other guys were willing. It wasn’t because Robert was busy with other projects. It is because Robert is doing this for John’s, honor. The reason Led Zeppelin broke up in the past, ’cause they felt they couldn’t go on without, John. Robert could probably go on a tour with Zeppelin if he wanted to easily, but Robert just doesn’t feel comfortable without John being around. Jason admits in this interview, that he wasn’t supposed to reveal this. He’d probably get in trouble for it.
Read this article and see the video interview with Jason himself, here.
If you think about it, there would no Led Zeppelin without John Bonham, ’cause he is Led Zeppelin. So maybe Robert is doing the right thing. Robert seems to be the only one in the band, who is still grieving for John.
They probably won’t perform on Letterman tomorrow night, but the interview will still be good. If they do end up performing after all, that would be cool too!
Kev
Understandable.
I doubt they will play as the’re is already another musical act booked.
And Jason isn’t giving away any secrets. Plant himself has said on several occasions that that is why he doesn’t want to tour as led zeppelin.
In fact, if you go back to your posts on the celebration day countdown, you will see test I mentioned that very reason in the comments.
It’s doubtful they will play as there is already a musical act scheduled to perform.
And Jason didn’t give away any secrets. He just repeated what Robert has said many times before. In fact, if you go back to your posts on the Celebration Day countdown, you’ll see where I pointed that out.
You should check this out. I know you don’t drink, but Sierra Nevada Breweries just put out Celebration ale. Looks like even the big micro brewers are getting behind the Led Zeppelin comeback.

I don’t drink too much anymore, but once in a blue moon. I’ll have a few. So thanks. Next time I go to the Beverage store, I’ll see if they have this in stock.
Kev
Don’t wait too long. It’s a limited release. They will stop selling it in January. (Maybe as long as the possible Led Zeppelin tour?)
What’s been failed to be mentioned is that Mr. Plant has an impossible time hitting those high notes these days. And if you think the DVD wasn’t autotuned like crazy, well… think again. And I am a huge Zep fan. I have seen them over 20 times. Sadly, Sir Robert can not hit those notes these days. He uses a c-pap machine these days to treat a condition related to sleep apnea and it has dried out his vocal cords with extreme intensity. Nonetheless, Zep SHOULD carry on with either Paul Stanley, Roland Orzabal, Henry Rollins or Pat Benatar. It would be unconventional, but could possible put some mules in the barn, as it were. I welcome your debate on this topic, Kevin. Maybe if enough of us get involved we can all mass debate.

Even though Plant can’t get to those high pitch screams anymore or even those high notes, which I agree with, the man still has the pipes. Even though most of the songs at the 02 show were tuned down some so it can fit Robert’s voice, they still killed it!

As a matter of fact, Jimmy, Jonesy, and Jason almost went on without Robert. They auditioned a bunch of singers already but won’t name most of them, except a few names were leaked to the web. The only two names that were leaked who auditioned for Zeppelin were obviously, Myles Kennedy and Steven Tyler. They came close to going on without Robert but they changed their mind on that, as well.
Robert said to the Associated Press, that he is willing to tour the world and write new songs with anyone, which he is probably referring to Page, Jonesy, and Bonham Jr. So if a Led Zeppelin comeback were to be likely, then they should just go under a different band name, would be fine with me.

Another thing I wanted to bring up, that Plant’s vocals at the O2 show were definitely not auto-tuned. They have boot legged videos in youtube, there were times where Plant felt like he was almost out of breath and might have messed up a few lyrics here and there. Although, it wouldn’t surprise me if they did use autotune and using studio editing to fix those flubs for DVD/BluRay/CD recordings.
Kev
The vocals on the DVD are, in fact, auto-tuned. Along with some snare drum hits that were replaced. To the best of my nothing that’s all they did, save for sweeten the crowd noise, which is a staple for every ‘live’ CD or DVD. Robert is unwilling to tour because he can’t hit the notes, Kevin. Believe it or not, there are some things that you don’t know. I know what i know becuase I am ‘in the biz’ and when i say ‘in the biz’ – I mean ‘in the industry’ and I am gladly sharing it with you and your readers. Would it kill you to thank me?!

No need to state the fucking obvious that he can’t hit the high notes. Everyone knows that. That’s why, most of the songs at the O2 show were tuned down so they can fit his vocals, but like I said, he still killed it. Anybody who disrespects Robert Plant in this way, is a loser piece of shit. There’s no way you’re Bill Aucoin, ’cause he died in 2010. Nice try, though.

Just saw something come across the AP wire. Dave Grohl is slotted to sing in the reformed Zeppelin with Taylor Hawkins on drums…stay tuned.
BWHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!! See guys? I fucking KNEW that was coming! I predicted that a long time ago but NO. All you guys did was laugh at me. Dave put the Foo Fighters on break, so I kind of had a feeling this way coming anyway! I can’t really say, “I told you so”, yet, but when this news gets confirmed, I will! 🙂
Kev
Summer tour with Grohl and Hawkins just announced on the AP Telegraph….
Thanks for the heads up! I don’t have the AP Telegraph on my Ipad yet, I’ll have to get it. They must be getting the scoops early. Maybe Led Zeppelin and the Foo Fighters will confirm it soon. Maybe on Dec. 10th (which is the date of my birthday, by the way)? It’s the 5th Anniversary of the 02 show.
Kev
Remember this article? This could actually happen after all! The new Led Zeppelin album with the weird “X” word in the title, may actually see the light of day.
If Dave Grohl says it, must be true.

Kev
This song maybe a new Led Zeppelin song, that was leaked to the web, from that album in that article I just posted. This song sounds pretty legit to me. That is Robert’s voice and Jimmy’s playing for sure, I can tell.
We will know this song is legit when they confirm the new album and this song could be listed in the track listing.
Kev
The name of the rumored Led Zeppelin album is titled, “χυμεία3”. It seems they are putting the album on hold. They worked on it via online with just Robert, Jimmy and Jonesy. They couldn’t release it because of legal stuff with the Royal Courts. The guys has been silent about this album for a while.

If the story is true, hopefully the album, will come out in 2013. That be sweet!
Kev
If you don’t see it there I also saw it on the Led On Line and the Wembley Times Flag
Looking forward to your “I told you so”.
It wouldn’t surprise me if Jimmy Page will confirm this on Letterman tonight, but will be a huge surprise for everyone else.
Kev
Yeah, sounds right. Make sure you watch it so you can break the news first!
I can’t see Pat Benetar or any chick singer for that matter. Too bad Greg Torteli (Tortelvis) is dead. He would have been perfect.
I can’t either, that’s the hook! I did not know Greg passed away. When did this happen? I used to see him drum in The Sneaks many moons before Dread Zep.
I was wrong about that. I looked them up and they are still going.
I guess the report I heard about tortelvis dying wad just a symbolic death. It was when he left Dred Zep and Gary Bibb took over. Seems like the kind if report or stunt that’s right up their alley though. Sorry about that. Man, they sure put on some fun shows.
Sadly as you get older, your voice will naturally crack more often. Look at Dave Coverdale and Ian Gillan nowadays. Coverdale relies on his band to do the high notes, and no way can Gillan do “Child In Time” like he used to anymore. An exception though is Glenn Hughes. His voice still sounds amazing to this day.
Torteli is still alive and kicking. I was wrong. I decided to look them up to see what they were up to. Sorry. I just remember many years ago hearing a report that Tortelvis was dead and being replaced by Gary Bibb. I guess that was just a “symbolic” death.
