Paul McCartney and surviving members of Nirvana “could” collaborate for new album and tour…

Paul McCartney and the surviving members of Nirvana performed twice together on TV. One at the Sandy Relief show in NYC and then on SNL last night, (which I did stay up to watch on TV). Last year, Paul McCartney expressed interest in working with Dave Grohl to make a hard rock album with original songs. See an old article, here, about it.

Look like a Foo Fighters/Led Zeppelin supergroup is not gonna happen anytime soon. It looks like we’ll be getting a McCartney/Nirvana supergroup next year instead. Still cool though! And it’s pretty badass these two are collaborating.

It may seem pretty odd that Paul McCartney sings hard rock and heavy music, but like I said before, Paul McCartney can sing any genre. He can do everything well. A new hard rock album haven’t been confirmed by McCartney yet, but it’s getting close to it. I think those two performances he did with Nirvana was just a small preview of what’s coming up ahead. It’s a just a test. They want to get feedback from the people, before they go ahead and do it. Paul’s a pretty versatile musician, he can do it all!

  1. He didn’t say anything about working with Grohl. All it said was that he was looking at what Grohl did. In fact there is a quote by Paul at the end of the article:

““A heavier rock album sounds quite wacky, but it keeps it fresh,” He tells Rolling Stone. “I love what Dave did. I love that you get a crazy idea and go with it. You never know, I may run into a garage and make this album. But it won’t be in Dave’s garage.”

    1. I know that. I’m not stupid. Yet, McCartney performed with Grohl twice on TV in one week which is making it a big possibility that they’re about to be doing something really big together. Possible album and tour. In the title in this post, I said, it “could” happen. I didn’t say it was definitely gonna happen. I just get the feeling that it will.

  2. It’s not a Mccartney/Grohl album though. And it’s not a Nirvana album. It’s just and album by Dave Grohl collaborating with several artists for the soundtrack of his new move.

    Here is the track listing:

01 Dave Grohl, Peter Hayes, and Robert Levon Been: “Heaven and All”
02 Brad Wilk, Chris Goss, Dave Grohl, and Tim Commerford: “Time Slowing Down”
03 Dave Grohl, Rami Jaffee, Stevie Nicks, and Taylor Hawkins: “You Can’t Fix This”
04 Dave Grohl, Nate Mendel, Pat Smear, Rick Springfield, and Taylor Hawkins: “The Man That Never Was”
04 Alain Johannes, Dave Grohl, Lee Ving, Pat Smear, and Taylor Hawkins: “Your Wife Is Calling”
06 Corey Taylor, Dave Grohl, Rick Nielsen, and Scott Reeder: “From Can to Can’t”
07 Alain Johannes, Chris Goss, Dave Grohl, and Joshua Homme: “Centipede”
08 Alain Johannes, Dave Grohl, and Joshua Homme: “A Trick With No Sleeve”
09 Paul McCartney, Dave Grohl, Krist Novoselic, and Pat Smear: “Cut Me Some Slack”
10 Dave Grohl, Jessy Greene, Jim Keltner, and Rami Jaffee: “Once Upon a Time… The End”
11 Dave Grohl, Joshua Homme, and Trent Reznor: “Mantra”

    1. yeah, I’m sure it was a marketing ploy to help promote Dave’s “Sound City” movie, but I still think McCartney and Grohl could have more things on the horizon, just wait on it, and give it time. I know they won’t release new music under the Nirvana name, out of respect for Kurt, but the surviving members of Nirvana could back McCartney up for an upcoming solo album. These guys could easily get together to make a full album if they wanted. I don’t see how people could think it’s impossible. They are musicians, that’s what they do. Get together and play music!

      1. Make no mistake about Dave Grohl. That guy is unpredictable and he can do whatever he wants. Nobody ever thought he would re-join, Queens of the Stone Age again, and he just did. He could also bring back, Them Crooked Vultures if he wanted to.

    1. I’m still betting my money on it. McCartney said he had plans in writing a hard rock album and liked what Dave Grohl did. Now he’s already working with Dave. It’s just a pretty good sign.
