Ron Howard’s “Dark Tower” adaptation gets green lighted by Sony Studios…

Universal Studios said no. Warner Bros. says no. Sony Studios says, “Yes” to Ron Howard’s “Dark Tower” adaptation by Stephen King. These guys are struggling to get these films made. I would think the reason is, they’re too expensive and so much work. The other studios didn’t want to deal with all that.

I hope Sony won’t bail out as well and hope they do a good job with the first, “Dark Tower” film. I’m a huge fan of the books myself as I’ve read them all. I’ve always wanted to see these books be made into big screen movies. I wish them good luck ’cause these movies would be difficult to get made.

I love how Ron Howard is committed to these films and admire how he hasn’t given up. He has a lot of passion for the “Dark Tower”. I have a feeling that when these movies come out, the “Dark Tower” could become the next big franchise. I predict the “Dark Tower” could become just as big as the Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter and Star Wars.

The Dark Tower books are already very popular but these books will become best sellers again when the movies come out. A lot more people will be buying the books for sure. So I hope Sony does a good job. This is still gonna be a combination of movies and TV series like originally planned.

I hope they pick a good cast for Roland, Eddie Dean, Susan and Jake.

  1. I honestly hope this never gets made, I love those books and almost every Stephen King film adaptation kinda stinks.

    1. Yeah, I hear ya. You’re exactly right that most Stephen King adapted movies are horrible. There has only been a few good ones. A few of my favorite Stephen King movies that I thought were REALLY good are: “Shawshank Redemption”, “The Green Mile”, “Stand By Me”, “Misery” (w/ James Caan and Kathy Bates), “Pet Sematary” and “Creepshow”.

Other than that the rest of ’em were pretty bad and that includes Kubrick’s “The Shining” and Depalma’s version of “Carrie”.

However, I think Ron Howard will do a good job with the “Dark Tower” franchise. That guy is no joke. He would know what fans would want out of these films. When Ron Howard brought the “Da Vinci Code” series to the big screen, he didn’t disappoint with those so I think he’ll do a good job with the “Dark Tower” too. Ron Howard is a talented man and all of his movies are good so I trust him.

    1. Well, Stephen King is an actual character in the last two books and I think it would make more sense if King himself would play himself in the final two films.

Anyway, I read somewhere that King wanted to voice, Blaine the Mono.
