Report: “Bioshock: Infinite” finally gets a release date!!!!

Today, 2K games, finally announced the release date for the upcoming new Bioshock game called, “Bioshock: Infinite”. While this is the third Bioshock game, it is not a sequel or a prequel. It is set in an earlier period and a different setting. “Infinite”, will of course, be similar to the first two games, even though this will be a completely different story. Instead of being in an underwater city like the first two games, this game will be taken place in a floating sky city of Columbia. There are two main characters in the game, Booker Dewitt, and a female character, Elizabeth (pictured above). Not sure if you get to choose which character to play. This game will hit shelves in the US., Oct. 16th.

More on the story, here.

I’m a huge fan of the Bioshock games. So I’m definitely looking forward to this one!

Game Review: “Batman: Arkham City”

Well, I finally finished, “Batman: Arkham City” after 2 or 3 months playing it. It was a pretty long game. This is the sequel to Rocksteady’s, “Arkham Asylum”. The sequel here, continues the story from where it left off.

The story is set in “Arkham City” which is a very large prison, similar to “Arkham Asylum” but much larger. Bruce Wayne is arrested by Hugo Strange’s Tyger mercenaries, and forced to be put in imprisonment in, “Arkham City”. Batman learns from Joker’s doctor, that the Joker is sick with a disease that came from the Titan formula that is mutating in Joker’s blood. Batman is sick with the same disease. They must get the cure to get rid of this disease or they will both die.

That’s enough with the plot, on with the game review. As expected, “Arkham City” was much better than the first. It’s a much longer game and more challenging. There are a lot of more Riddler trophies you have to find in this one, however, you must figure out all these difficult puzzles in order to get to trophy. Batman must collect all 400 trophies throughout the game in order to confront, the Riddler.

In this game, you will see some familiar characters: Catwoman, Mr. Freeze, Ra Al Ghul, the MadHatter, Calendar Man, Bane, Solomon Grundy, Penguin, Harley Quinn, etc. Quite a lot of Batman villains appear in the game. Calendar Man only appeared in a small cameo though. The Joker, of course, was voiced by none other than the great, Mark Hammill, who did a great job as usual.

When I say this is a difficult and challenging game, I’m not kiddin! The game was a bitch throughout most of it. When you get into combats with the thugs, you get to fight like 10 – 20 guys all at once. The bosses can be pretty hard too. The fighting techniques in the game is more technical then the last game, “Arkham Asylum”. You can do a lot more moves. You have to learn flying techniques as well.

I was very impressed with the game. It’s definitely one of the best games of 2011, that’s for sure. I thought the graphics was insane and the musical score was amazing as well. I did play the Catwoman character, and she is a blast. I hope we get to play her more in the third game.

In the third Batman game, when Rocksteady starts doing one, I hope the next game will actually take place in, “Gotham City”. Plus, I want to control Batman driving the Batmobile or the Batwing, in the next one. Make the next game more like the Grand Theft Auto series, ya know?

As for my, “Best Video Games of 2011” list, it’s still coming. I think I’m only going to give a top 5 instead of a top 10. Because I haven’t played much games in 2011, only like 8 games. I plan to start playing, “Battlefield 3” tonight, and soon after that, “Skyrim”. So after I finish those two games, I’ll have the list up on the blog.

“Batman: Arkham City” was incredible, do yourself a favor and get it soon!

“Batman: Arkham City” not quite done yet, but still ways to go…

Well, I finished, “Batman: Arkham City”, sort of. I’ve beaten the main game anyway. I still need to finish collecting rest of the riddler trophies that are spreaded around on the map. “Arkham City” is definitely one of the best games of the year though, it’s pretty high up on the list.

I will do a “Best of 2011” list for video games, but this list will come in a month or two. There’s still a few other games in 2011 I want to play.

I do have “Battle Field 3” which I got a couple of weeks ago before the Holidays, and I’m probably gonna move on to that game next, pretty soon here.

There are also a few other games I want to check out that I haven’t bought yet. I’m still meaning to get, “Skyrim”, the new fantasy role playing game that’s getting positive reviews everywhere. I also want to get “Portal 2”, and “Resistance 3”. For Best Video Games of 2011, I will give them a Top 10. Games take a long while to finish ’til the very end and I’m trying to catch up with all the 2011 games the best I can.

As for the Best Movies of 2011 list, that will come this weekend, ’cause I’m seeing, “Girl With the Dragon Tattoo” tomorrow night.

Game Review: Dead Island

Today, I finally finished the game, “Dead Island”. It was a pretty long ass game too. A lot of missions and side quests you have to go through.

The game is taken place in a fictional island named, Banoi, which is off the coast of Papua New Guinea. You play 4 different characters in the game: Xian Mei, Sam B., Logan, and Purna. You can play up to 1 – 4 players, in the game. The character I picked was Purna, the black woman who specializes in guns. I played by myself in the game, because I have no one else to play the game with. You start off in the Palms Resort Hotel, the night after the hotel party and then the island have been taken over by zombies. The Island of Banoi is meant to be a hot vacation spot for tourists, but it is not so hot anymore when there are zombies around.

This is not just a first person shooter, it’s also a role playing game. You don’t have to go through all the side quests but the main quests are the main part of the game, you must go through. A lot of people complain that this game doesn’t have much weapons and guns to choose from. I think the reason for that is, because when you’re in a zombie apocalypse, they want to make it seem realistic & believable. After a zombie apocalypse, there’s nothing much left anymore. Everything is pretty much all gone, and that includes things to survive with. You must go around and find that stuff yourself. So it makes a lot of sense to not have a lot of weapons in this game. They want to make sure if you can fight zombies and survive with very little items. It’s part of gaming and they want you to have skill.

There is plenty of gore throughout the game and it can get pretty nasty at times. Plus, the game can get pretty scary and creepy as well. This has gotten mixed reviews. It’s another one of those love or hate things, but despite all the negative reviews on this game, I thought this game was absolutely amazing. The game was very addicting. I couldn’t stop playing it. A lot of people said the game play had problems and said it was boring, but really? I had an absolute blast fighting zombies. The game can be a bitch, and frustrating. You like playing those games where you can get mad at and throw your controller to the floor so many times? Well this game will do that to you.

There were a few slight problems, however, I didn’t like how they did the mapping. They need to improve the mapping more ’cause it was confusing. Plus, the game was kind of laggy and glitchy at some spots. Other than that, this was a great game. It had a good story, the characters were very well voiced.

I think this is one of the best games of 2011, of course, that opinion could change when I start, “Batman: Arkham City” next which I will start tonight. I also still need to get “Battle Field 3” and “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3” sometime in the future as well. There’s a lot of new games for the PS3 I want to get. It’s hard to catch up with them all. Games are pretty pricey, so I play one at a time.

BREAKING NEWS: “Grand Theft Auto V” finally announced!!!!

Well, Rockstar games finally announced, “Grand Theft Auto V”. The teaser will be released, Nov. 2nd. Details and the plot for the next installment are being kept under wraps for now, but we will know everything when the trailer is out.

My question is, will Niko Bellick return? “Grand Theft Auto IV” was a major hit and Niko Bellick (voiced by Michael Hollick) became one of the most popular video game characters of all time. Hopefully, Nikko returns as your playable character.

“Grand Theft Auto IV” was a pretty good game but it was too easy and a piece of cake. Hopefully the next game will be more challenging and difficult. Hopefully it will have a lot more missions than the last game, ’cause I remember the last game was kind of short.

Game Review: “Deus Ex: Human Revolution”

I just finished, “Deus Ex: Human Revolution”, one of the newer games released for the PS3 not too long ago. I became interested in this game by all the great reviews this game was getting online. So I figure, I would buy it myself and give it a try.

I never heard of the Deus Ex game series before, so I didn’t realize that this is the third game of the series. “Deus Ex: Human Revolution” is actually a prequel of the first game, “Deus Ex”. I think the reason I never heard of the “Deus Ex” series because the first two games were PC released only games, I believe.

“Deus Ex: Human Revolution” is about a man named, Adam Jensen, who was a former police officer and now he is a security guard working for Sarif Industries. Sarif Industries has been attacked by terrorists, and Adam is forced to get surgery to put mechanical augmentation into his body. He’s not exactly a robot or an android, he’s actually human but the mechanical augmentations helps humans survive. He was ordered by Sarif, the owner of Sarif Industries to go investigate the attack and hunt down the ones responsible for the attack.

The game is a mix of a role playing game and first person shooter. It has different styles of game play. There is, “Combat”, “Stealth”, “Hacking”, and “Social”. “Stealth” is that you must hide from guards, getting to a certain location you need to go to without getting spotted. If you get spotted by a guard, he will call for backup and they’ll try to find you. “Hacking” is when you hack into a computer to read e-mails, look through security cameras, break into rooms, etc. “Social” is when Adam is talking to a character, you get to choose what to say yourself.

To explain what augmentations are more, they are technological modifications that gives you superhuman abilities. The game is very futuristic looking in a cyberpunk world.

On with my thoughts on the game, I was very impressed with it. I think this is the best new game, I played so far in 2011. My only complaint, is that the game play graphics aren’t that great. It still made you feel like you were playing a PC or a PS2 game, but the cut scene graphics were better. Another complaint I have is that the bosses were a bit too easy.

Other than that, I had a blast playing the game. The game play was so much fun and addicting. I just couldn’t stop playing it. I loved stealth. When you first start to play the game, you’ll get confused and think it is really hard at first, but keep playing. You’ll get better and get the hang of things as time goes along.

I was most impressed with the story. The story was pretty masterful, and I hope Hollywood does a movie on this series. I also hope the gaming industry would re-release the first two “Deus Ex” games so we can catch up on them. The Adam Jensen character was one of the coolest video game characters created. I thought this game was really good. Check it out.

Game Review: L.A. Noire

Today, I finally finished the game, “L.A. Noire” and it’s a pretty long game too. It’s the latest game the company, Rockstar made. The same makers who did the “Grand Theft Auto” series, and “Red Dead Redemption”.

The story is set in Los Angeles in 1947. You play an LAPD police officer named, Det. Cole Phelps (who is voiced by actor, Aaron Staton). You start off as a regular police officer with a black uniform at first, then you get promoted to Detective later. You must solve cases through the departments of: Traffic, Homicide, Vice, and Arson. You must look for all clues around a certain crime scene. While you’re looking for clues, music will play, and the music will stop letting you know all the clues are found. Then you must interview witnesses and catch suspects. After you catch the suspect, you must interview the suspect while he/she is in custody.

The only thing when you’re interviewing witnesses or suspect, you have to carefully choose whether he/she is telling the “Truth”, maybe in “Doubt’, “Lying”. You must carefully watch their facial expressions to see if you can tell if they’re telling “Truth, in “Doubt”, or “Lying”. If you pick “Lying”, you must go through the clues in your notebook to prove it. This is the hardest part of the whole game and I got plenty of answers wrong during the interviews. I got some right though.

There are action sequences for the game play. Yes, you get to chase cars, run after the bad guys on foot, and shoot enemies, but you don’t do much of that in the game. The game wants to see if you can solve crime yourself. It’s strictly a Detective and Mystery game.

As the word in the title says, “Noire”, the game is heavily inspired by actual, film noir. You have the choice to play this game in either color or black & white. I played it in color, but next time I play this again, I’ll play it in black & white so it can give it a realistic, film noir feeling. The musical score and the acting of the voice overs did a great job on making it feel like, film noir. The game can get nasty and graphic at times though. There is a lot of profanity as well.

When you’re playing this game, keep in mind this isn’t “Grand Theft Auto”. Yes, there is free roam, you can go where ever you please, but the problem is, you can’t do anything you want. You’re a police officer, so you must follow the laws. If you run over people with your car in the streets or try to steal cars, you get penalties.

There are references of famous actors that got a mention in the game, when there was a part where Cole had to look up names in a Hotel scene. Marilyn Monroe, Shirley Temple, Orsen Welles, Clark Gable, etc. I thought that was pretty cool.

I thought this was an incredible game. It’s the best game I’ve played in 2011 so far. Everything about the game was perfect. No complaints. I wish the video game industry would make more Detective games like this, we need more. I’m sure there will be a sequel to, “L.A. Noire”, ’cause the ending left open for one, I think. If you enjoy classic movies and film noir, yourself. Get this game.

I’m not much into classic film noir, but after playing this game, makes me want to start seeing some of those films.

Game Review: “Duke Nukem: Forever”

Well, so I finally beat “Duke Nukem: Forever’, yes, in the difficult mode. This game took 2k Games 14 years to make. As a longtime gamer myself, I’m a huge fan of the Duke Nukem series. I’ve played all the earlier Duke Nukem games for the PC years back. They were classic games. I was very addicted to the earlier games. When I started playing this new game, I still had the addiction I had years before. Duke Nukem is that addicting!!!

On with the plot… this game is set 12 years after the events of “Duke Nukem: 3D”. Duke is now a famous celebrity. He’s rich and famous. In the opening scene of the game, Duke is set to go for an interview for his own talk show. On his way to the talk show, he learned that aliens once again has invaded, but this time they took over his home where he lives. Duke has twin sisters who are both his girlfriends, they were kidnapped by aliens and he must go and rescue them. Of course, he must destroy the aliens once and for all.

Enough with the plot. On with my thoughts of the game. When this game first came out, people gave this game mixed opinions. It’s another “love” or “hate” kind of thing. I really enjoyed the story. I thought the writing was actually pretty good. The graphics were very impressive. Much improvement on the graphics from the earlier games.

The game also had a mix of emotions. A lot of it can be funny and comical but sometimes the game can be very scary. There were some scenes in the game that kind of creeped me out a little bit, plus there is a lot of gore as well. There is also a bit of female nudity. Yes, the female characters actually showed their breasts in full bare. I thought the strip club scene was hot.

Duke Nukem says his usual comic catchphrases. They were mostly catchphrases taken from other well known movies. Some of the weapons were the same just the earlier games, but there are newer weapons too, of course. You still get the railgun and the shrink ray. Duke Nukem even shrinks himself in some scenes which I had a blast with.

Most importantly of all, the game play was just a fucking blast. The game was actually pretty long too. It was also very difficult and challenging. It took me over 20 tries to get past some parts, it was frustrating but that’s good. I like games that are really hard. I hate games that are too easy.

So was this game worth the 14 year wait? Absolutely!!!! There is going to be a sequel because the game just left open for a sequel. I hope they don’t make us wait another 14 years for the next game.

Now that I’m done with “Duke Nukem: Forever”, I will finally move on to “L.A. Noire”. “L.A. Noire” was a video game I bought several months back but never started it yet. I think I will definitely start that game next.

“Duke Nukem: Forever” was a brilliant game. Kick ass. I loved it. Good job, guys. Just a way a Duke Nukem game is supposed to be!

Report: Freddy Kreuger will be playable character for new “Mortal Kombat” game Aug. 9th…

On Aug. 9th, Freddy Kreuger will be a playable character for you to download for the new “Mortal Kombat” game. It will cost $4.99 to download from the PSN store.

More on it, here.

In my opinion, it doesn’t really fit, and doesn’t make a whole lot of sense at all. Freddy is only seen in people’s dreams but whatever, it’s only a game, I guess.

They need to make a new Freddy Kreuger game somewhere down the road.

After 12 long years, Duke Nukem is finally back!!!

I haven’t posted all day, because I spent most of the day playing the new “Duke Nukem: Forever” game. Yes, Duke Nukem, he’s finally back. He finally returned after a 12 year hiatus from the video gaming world! Welcome back, Duke!

This game is getting mixed reviews. Some hate it, some love it. Well, I’m loving the game so far. The game is actually pretty hard too. It’s getting harder as I go along. I think the graphics are great, and the game play is such a blast. It stayed true to the earlier Duke Nukem games, except this one has a current feel to it. So far, I’m very impressed with it. Just the way a Duke Nukem game should be, they did a good job, in my opinion.

After I complete the entire game, I’ll give a full detailed review. I still need to play “L.A. Noire” but I will move on to that game after I beat “Duke Nukem”. Before “Duke Nukem”, I was playing the new “Mortal Kombat” game.

I haven’t been playing video games in a long while and it’s cool to get back into it again. I only start playing games whenever new ones comes out that I like. Games are expensive, so I’m very careful on which I choose. I only buy the good games. I’m done with gaming for the night though.

Gonna watch “Friday Night Lights” tonight, then maybe more of “Lost” on Netflix after that.

Yeah, I did my tricep workout today at home.
