Film Of The Day: O Brother, Where Art Thou

The Coen Brothers made a lot of great flicks, but I think this is my favorite one. George Clooney is mostly known for starring in drama roles, but sometimes he likes to do a comedy film. When he does a comedy film, he will do a good job at it. I thought Clooney was real funny in this movie.

It tells the story of Everett Ulysses McGill, who escapes from a chain gang along with his friends, Delmar and Pete. The film is taken place in the 1930’s, and was based on Homer’s “Odyssey”. Everett wants to go back home so he can seek the treasure that maybe there but of course, they meet a bunch of strange people along the way, including the KKK, in which, they want to stop them from getting that treasure.

The reason this movie works perfectly ’cause the film was shot beautifully, the acting was well done by everybody. It was funny, and enjoyable. Lots of memorable scenes and funny catchphrases. Most importantly of all, it was the music. Lots of folk music being played throughout the film, and these are songs that you can sing all day yourself, most notably, songs such as “I’m a Man of Constant Sorrow”, “I’ll Fly Away”, “Go To Sleep Little Baby”, etc.

Yes, this is another one of those movies I would never get tired of watching. “I Don’t Want Fop, I’m a Dapper Dan Man”.

Cool Photos: Jeff Bridges reunites with cast of “The Big Lebowski” last night in NYC!!!

Not only that Jeff Bridges celebrated the release of his debut solo album yesterday, he also reunited with the cast of “The Big Lebowski” last night in NYC. Everybody was there except for Joel and Ethan Coen who directed the film, they were no shows…but John Goodman, Steve Buscemi, John Turturro, and Julianne Moore were there. T. Bone Burnett was also there. While T. Bone Burnett didn’t score the music for the film, he produced the film’s soundtrack and picked the songs for the movie.

They were there to celebrate the release of the Limited Edition of “The Big Lebowski” Blu Ray/DVD which also came out yesterday.

Yesterday must be a thrilling and exciting day for Jeff Bridges. As you can see in the pics, Jeff is smiling really wide so he must of had that big smile all day. Congrats Jeff!

“The Big Lebowski” is one of my favorite comedy films by the way. I love the film too much. I plan to pick up Jeff Bridges new album tomorrow.

See the photos of the Big Lebowski reunion, here.

John Goodman is looking amazing. He’s definitely been working out and eating right ’cause every new pics that surface of John Goodman online, he seems to be getting thinner and thinner. So congrats go to John in his fitness success.

Report: Jeff Bridges to reunite with the Coen Bros. for “True Grit” remake…

Actor, Jeff Bridges is in talks with the Coen Bros. to star in the remake of “True Grit” western that originally starred, John Wayne. Jeff once worked with the Coen Bros. in the 1998 comedy film, “The Big Lebowski” as the role that everybody knows, The Dude.

Does this mean that John Goodman could have a role in “True Grit” also? We’ll just have to wait and see.

Variety Reports:

I used to like the Coen Bros. but their last couple of movies has been shit lately. And I have a feeling their, “True Grit” remake would probably be shit too.

My top 5 Coen Bros. movies are:

  • Raising Arizona
  • Fargo
  • The Big Lebowski
  • The Man Who Wasn’t There
  • O’ Brother Where Art Thou

Everything else they did wasn’t that great.
