Confirmed: U2 announce they will release new album titled, “No Line On the Horizon” on March 2nd, 2009…

The legendary Irish rockers, U2, has announced the band will release their 12th studio album titled, “No Line on the Horizon” on March 2nd, 2009. The album is produced by Brian Eno and Danny Lanois. It was recorded in various studios all over the world. Previously, Rick Rubin was the producer for the album, but the band fired him and ditched his recorded tracks due to creative differences.

The band didn’t give anymore details on the new album. No tracklisting, no insight on the sound and no description of the style of music of the new album. I’m sure the band will give us all that in the near future.

I hope this will be a good album, so I’ll be looking forward to listening to it. I didn’t like “How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb” at all. I did love the album released before that, “All That You Can’t Leave Behind” though. “Leave Behind” is a fuckin’ incredible album, one of the best new albums they’ve ever done. I hope “On the Horizon” album will fuckin’ rock and not be a mellow record.

Report: U2 announce album title, ditches Rick Rubin’s tracks…

The legendary Irish rockers U2 are hard at work on their 12th studio album. Rick Rubin was the band’s producer for their new album but not anymore. U2 and Rubin wrote and recorded a handful of songs for the new album. U2 has decided that Rubin’s style of recording wasn’t what they wanted so the band ended up throwing all the songs Rick Rubin did with them in the trash.

The band hired Brian Eno and Daniel Lanois to produce the new album instead, they titled the album “No Line On the Horizon” which seems to be the current title at this point. They’re using Brian and Danny to see how it would go with them.

If you know Rick Rubin’s style of producing, Rick like to bring the old sound of legendary artists back. Rick probably tried that with U2 to try and bring the classic U2 sound back but I guess U2 didn’t want that direction. The band made it clear in the article the band wants to move forward in their music, not backwards.

Rick Rubin brought back the classic sound of Metallica, Johnny Cash, Neil Diamond, etc. U2 continues to evolve into new sounds every album.

This is why I dig U2 and why I admire this legendary band ’cause you never know what they are going to do next. They’re an unpredictable band. You’ll never know what their style of music will be on their next album. I just hope and pray that U2’s next album will be energetic and rocking. I hope they stay away from electronica and pop/rock. I think U2’s “All That You Can’t Leave Behind” is their best new album. That album has a classic U2 feel.

“How to Dismantle An Atomic Bomb” their latest was ok and pretty good but nothing all that great.

Report: Sir Bono of U2 parties it up with a couple of bikini chicks!!!

Bono of U2 is spotted in various pictures partying it up with a couple of young bikini chicks who looks to be in their early 20’s or a little older. As you can see the two chicks, Andrea Feick and Hannah Emerson are just about naked wearing revealing bikini. And yes, Bono is a married man. Bono even went on a private cruise alone with these two girls as well with his wife not being around them.

Is Bono cheating on his wife with these two chicks? The girls claim they aren’t and said they are nothing more than friends with the legendary rock star. It looks as though Bono is on vacation celebrating that he just got knighted as Sir Bono.

Read more on this stuff here and see more pictures of Bono having a blast:

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-1080636/What-St-Bonos-wife-say-partying-teenage-girls.html

The question you have  to ask is this, is it wrong for Bono for partying with younger girls even if he’s married?

My answer: No, there’s nothing wrong with it. As long as Bono isn’t fucking them and knocking them up in bed, there is nothing wrong with cuddling up with a couple of cute chicks and enjoying drinks with them and stuff.

He’s fuckin’ Bono. He’s been rocking in U2 since the late 60’s. I’m sure he partied with plenty of girls back in those days after the U2 concerts even if he is married back in the day and sure he’s had groupies wanting one night stands with him as well. That article acting like Bono being with other girls is the first time is idiotic.

So what will Bono’s wife say about him partying with those two girls? I’m sure his wife would approve of it and find it okay. Since those chicks have been friends with Bono for a long time, I’m sure his wife Ali knows Andrea and Hannah well enough to trust them. I’m pretty sure Bono’s wife Ali are friends with those girls too.

I wish I was partying with a couple of cute chicks with my arms wrapped around them. Any cute chicks out there that are fans of the Brock, don’t be afraid to come out to a show of mine (when I start playing out again) and ask me to cuddle with ya on the couch at a bar show. I’ll be game for that. Hell yeah! This is how you party like a rock star and Bono is still partying like a rock star, LOL!

Lars Ulrich expressed his love for U2, that he is a huge fan of Bono and the guys. He told a UK newspaper that his dream is for Metallica to share a same bill with U2.

As a huge fan of both of these bands, I’d pay to see that.

Maybe Metallica and U2 sharing the stage will actually happen when U2 releases their new album in 2009.

Keep your fingers crossed for this one!

Report: U2 going back to old school sound for new album…

Bono announced on the official U2 website, U2.com, that the band U2 plans to go back to their old school rock n’ roll sound they had back in the early 80’s and 90’s. The band wants to take a step away from their electronica and pop/rock stuff they’ve done the last 4 albums and is planning to go back to their old roots. Bono compares the sound to the new album to “The Joshua Tree” up to “Achtung Baby”.

U2 is an important band to me, I’ve admired them for years ever since I was a child.

Report: U2 releasing remaster editions of 3 classic albums…

The legendary Irish rock band, U2, is set to release 3 remaster editions from 3 of their classic albums. The band will be re-releasing: The Joshua Tree, October and War. All 3 set for release July 21. Each disc will feature extra b-sides, live recordings, and rarities. The albums will also have extended CD booklets with full lyrics and never before seen photos. From U2’s official website:

Three of my favorite albums! I’m definitely buying all 3 of them. I’m such a die hard U2 fan, I love them to death and I can’t wait for their new record as well.

Here’s a couple of youtube videos of one song from each of those three albums:

“Gloria” from October

“I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For” from the Joshua Tree

“New Year’s Day” from War

Report: U2 signs with Live Nation…

U2 has signed a deal with Live Nation for them to help the band with promotion of concerts and merchandise. It will not affect the band leaving their current label Universal Music Group. This is the same company that pop music queen Madonna will be working for as soon as she leaves Warner Music Group.

Variety reports:

Since the band’s last couple of albums “All That You Can’t Leave Behind” and “Atomic Bomb” didn’t sell very big, I can understand why U2 would go for this.

U2 has always been a favorite band of mine since I was a child and still love them today. “Atomic Bomb” was an ok record, I love “Can’t Leave Behind” way more.

I hope their next album will be a great one, they’re currently in the studio recording it.

NEW: U2 “The Ballad of Ronnie Drew”…new single for next album?

U2 just debuted a new song titled “The Ballad of Ronnie Drew”, they debuted it live on the Late Late Show. The lyrics to the “Ballad of Ronnie Drew” was written by Robert Hunter who was the longtime lyricist for the Grateful Dead. U2 wrote the music for the song. U2 performed the song as a special tribute to Ronnie Drew who is the frontman of the band The Dubliners. Musician Ronnie Drew is battling cancer and the band U2 wanted to pay respects to this Irish musician.

The musicians special guesting on the song “The Ballad of Ronnie Drew” are Sinead O’ Connor, Andrea Corr (from the Corrs), Moya Brennan, Damien Dempsey, Shane McGowan, Christy Moore, and more.  All Irish musicians.

It’s a beautiful song, I hope U2 put this on their next album! Get well Ronnie!

Kev

Edit to add: I found the lyrics to the song.

The Ballad of Ronnie Drew

words by Robert Hunter

————————————–

Here’s to the Ronnie, the voice we adore
Like coals from a coal bucket scraping the floor
Sing out his praises in music and malt
And if you’re not Irish, that isn’t your fault

Raise up our voices like dogs in a pack
Thankful for honest men we never lack
We got ’em by twenties, we got ’em by ones
Them and their daughters and all of their sons

Here’s to you, Ronnie Drew
Here’s to you, Ronnie Drew
Ronnie Drew, we love you, yes we do
Here’s to you, Ronnie Drew, here’s to you

And what’s it to any man whether or no’
Whether I’m easy or whether I’m true
As I lifted her petticoat easy and slow
And I tied up me sleeve for to buckle her shoe

Get up and go at it, five until five
When the whistle says budge it we come back alive
He’ll sing to the heavens, he’s stormy as hell
And wherever he goes, we’ll be wishing him well

Here’s to you, Ronnie Drew
Here’s to you, Ronnie Drew
Ronnie Drew, we love you, yes we do
Here’s to you, Ronnie Drew, here’s to you

The dawn and the dust, the wise, the unjust
Kids in gambling games
The unheard, the unseen, the unwashed and the clean
Where the streets all have names
Baggot Street, Leeson Street, right on to Stephens Street
With lovers and loners who can hear all intoners
The goths and the ravers, invalids and traders
Sing out Ronnie Drew

A life for a life or a hand for a hand
Trust in the music and strike up the band
The more that we sing the less that we fight
Time and again this is proved to be right

Build you a statue on St. Stephen’s Green
No fairer monument ere to be seen
The statue of Ronnie Drew holding the hand
Of a girl with her hair in a black velvet band

Here’s to you, Ronnie Drew
No stranger to devils or angles to tell
Here’s to you, Ronnie Drew
A friend of a friend of a friend of a friend of a friend to you
Ronnie Drew, we love you, yes we do
Here’s to you, Ronnie Drew, here’s to you
Here’s to you, Ronnie Drew, here’s to you, Ronnie Drew
Here’s to you, Ronnie Drew, here’s to you, Ronnie Drew

And what’s it to any man whether or no’
Whether I’m easy or whether I’m true
As I lifted her petticoat easy and slow
And I rolled up me sleeve for to buckle her shoe!
