Thought: Could the “Dark Knight” actually beat “Titanic”?

Variety reports that “The Dark Knight” made a sky rocketing $300 million so far. “The Dark Knight” is “still” filling up theaters. The theater was full the second time I saw it in theater again.

Lets pray that “The Dark Knight” passes 600 million to knock “Titanic” off of there!

That would be amazing!

  1. I think you’re right and it could easily overtake that insipid film (I’m not a fan of Titanic!). It hasn’t even had it’s official opening in the UK yet – I saw a preview – or other major territories and just look at those figures.

I, for one, would like to see it again. It’s a deep, intelligent and complex story and warrants a second (at least) viewing. I’d love to see it on IMAX (it’s the biggest IMAX film to date too). And when the DVD comes out I’ll be buying the multi disk all-bells-and-whistles Ka-Pow! deluxe edition.

‘Question is though, could a “superhero” “comicbook” movie beat Titanic’s Oscar haul? Very unlikely but I’d like to see nominations for at least Ledger, best film, director and screenplay.

  5. As the king of an amoral universe, as a purveyor of unrestricted evil for fun, Ledger’s dastardly villain, attired as sort of a rotting Clarabell, has chosen his own damnation. He’s jumped into an abyss he has dug himself, and he wants to pull us along.
