
Majel Barrett-Roddenberry, the widow of Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry, has passed away due to leukemia, she was 76. She died at her home in Bel-Air, California where she was surrounded by family and friends. She was known as “The First Lady Of Star Trek” since she was married to Gene Roddenberry.
She has done voice over work for the Star Trek computers in the original Star Trek, The Next Generation, Voyager, Deep Space Nine and most of the Star Trek movies. She recently did voice over work as the Star Trek computer for J.J. Abrams new “Star Trek” movie as well.
Other than doing her voice over work for the Star Trek computer, she had an on screen acting role playing the character of, Lwaxana Troi, who is the mother of Counselor Deanna Troi, on the “Star Trek: The Next Generation” series.

There was a time when I thought I’d never see the day without the original cast, but we’re now another step closer to that becoming reality.
I thought she was [mostly] annoying as Lwaxana Troi, but otherwise, I’d have to say she was the voice of Star Trek and the franchise wouldn’t have been the same – and won’t be – without her. I’m still unsure what to think about the “new” Star Trek, but it’s good to hear that she finished her voice work.
