The Sci Fi channel will be getting a new name. NBC Universal will be changing the name to “Sy Fy”. The name change will be in effect sometime in July. The Sci Fi channel is a popular science fiction TV channel, that aired shows like Star Trek, The Twilight Zone, Dark Shadows, Battlestar Gallactica, etc. All kinds of sci fi/fantasy films. It’s even the home of WWE’s “ECW” on Wednesday nights.

Does anyone who actually gets laid watch this awful channel? I understand why they would change their name though, since “sci fi” is a term coined by Forrest Ackerman in the 1950s and is so commonly used that you can’t copyright it. It also kind of pidgeonholes them into the nerdy male science fiction genre, when it’s clearly a female audience that they’re looking for. Females that don’t get laid. Guys don’t watch dreary soap operas like Battlestar Galactica, do they? Nothing blows up in that show, it’s all about “relationships” Yawn.

The only reason I used to watch it in the past, ’cause it showed old episodes of “Dark Shadows” TV series, while that TV show is a soap opera as well, that’s actually one of the good ones. The Barnabus character is really cool.
I respected the old Sci Fi channel ’cause they used to show all these classic sci fi TV series, now they’re showing a whole variety of junk. This channel is becoming more like Spike TV. While I’m a fan of WWE, I do find it weird how that channel has “ECW” on there when it’s sports entertainment, not science fiction.
