I may have figured out the problem, why I’m not getting bigger chest gains…

I need to start doing a well rounded chest workouts, that means hitting three different areas of the chest. While, I still don’t really care for Scooby’s Workshop, this is actually a decent and informative video. I need to start doing all three areas as Scooby explains here, each week.

I don’t do upper and lower chest workouts a lot for fear of over training, but I think that won’t be a problem. I think from this point on, I will always do upper and lower chest workouts. Thing is, I mostly do chest workouts that target the overall chest, but I need to concentrate on upper and lower more too. If I do what Scoob explains here, maybe I will start to get some improvements. I’ll take his advice for this one time and give it a try on my next chest day.

The big problem with bodybuilders posting progress pics online to get feedback…

Usually, when I post progress pics online, shirtless photos of me, to try and get feedback on my progress, I would usually get a few responses, but not a lot. I would even get a few thumbs up on the pics but not many people will tell me, “good work so far”, or, “you’re looking great, keep it up”.

When other people post their progress pics in facebook, they would get a lot more responses and more feedback than I do.

I think I’m just figuring things out, that when you don’t get enough responses, no matter how big & muscular and fit you get, you’re not pretty looking enough. In other words, I don’t look like the sexy bad boy you see in the magazines. If I was good looking and pretty enough, maybe I would get a lot of responses then, but to be honest, I don’t care to be that perfect looking muscle guy that the women drool over. I think all that male model stuff is silly and so fake to me, anyway.

I want to look natural, therefor, it’s why it’s called natural bodybuilding ’cause you’re not going to look perfect but you’re still muscular. People don’t post these progress pics for attention or ego. Many of us get accused of admiring ourselves when we post ’em.

The internet is a good opportunity to prove people that you’re really into this, plus, the shirtless progress pics is a good motivational tool to get other people interested in bodybuilding. That’s why bodybuilders do it. They just want to show people how they are progressing ’cause they can’t tell their own physique and can’t tell how they look. So they let other people tell them.

So I’m not worried about not getting enough feedback on my pics. I know I’m not the best looking guy in the world, and I’m proud of it. When you don’t get many people replying to your pics, they might be a little jealous of you and they want to be like you. Which is good. You want to make people jealous,  part of a motivational thing. That’s what makes me want to keep me going.

Still trying to get bigger chest gains…but doing less and less will get you there…

Some people think doing a few chest workouts one day a week will get you bigger chest gains. It could, but you could also be over training your chest muscles as well. I see guys in the gym doing all kinds of chest workouts. They would do a lot of heavy lifting too.

I’ve been experimenting different ways of trying to get bigger chest gains. For the past month or so, I’ve been lifting everything really light, doing a few chest workouts one day a week.

For the next month or so, I’m going to start lifting a little heavier with only doing 1 chest workout a week. Yes, just one workout. Today, I just did benching with the Smith machine (it’s okay you don’t need a spotter with a Smith machine ’cause that’s what the thing was made for), that was it.

More isn’t more, less is more. That’s what I’ve been trying to concentrate on. While the rest of my body looks pretty muscular and decent, I still need work on the chest though. Maybe I have bad genetics, I don’t know. Maybe that’s why I can’t get bigger chest gains but I’ll keep trying.

Just like I can’t tell with my own talent in music. I can’t tell how I look in fitness either. That’s why I need to do those progress pics.

I do want to have a great body and taking my slow time to get there. I’ll post new progress pics sometime this Spring. I want to see if I can get bigger gains first and then I’ll post them for feedback.

Yes, I’m still into bodybuilding. My second passion behind music, so I’ll never give that up either. I just want to look better, tougher, and hopefully, sexier. I want to look good playing guitar, so I try to get in shape before getting a band going.

EDIT TO ADD: I know it takes years of hard work to get bigger chest gains, it’s a slow process.

Gym go’ers should not obsess with the weight scale or how much bodyfat % you have…

I haven’t posted a fitness topic in a while, so I thought I would come up with something. People who go to the gym on a weekly basis shouldn’t obsess with the weight scale or how much bodyfat % you have. To me, I don’t care about either of these things. I don’t have a goal that I want to get lower bodyfat. I’m fine just the way I am. I don’t want to get lower than 10%, because honestly, I think people who  go lower than 10% or 8%, is just disgusting looking anyway. Having bodyfat that low, makes you look like a starving person. You don’t really need to be that lean. When you want to be in a fitness competition, it’s understandable to be that low, but when you’re living in the real world, you don’t need to.

I used to obsess with the weight scale and the bodyfat %, but I don’t care anymore. I already have a good enough visible six pack. You’ve seen the photos yourself. So, I’m proud of the way I look. I don’t need to go any lower or lose anymore weight.

This is why I have cheat meal weekends as a way to help keep it the way it is. If you want a six pack to prepare for the summer, wasting time dong ab crunches is not going pull it. Good eating most of the week and plenty of cardio is key to getting that sexy washboard everyone wants. If I can do it, anybody can.

Yes, I’m still doing the fitness/bodybuilding thing. Keep it going all year long, all year round, although I did have one week off of it this Winter which was last week. Now I’m back into my routine. I’ve been experimenting with the light lifting/more reps thing and that’s awesome too.

Back to the weight scale and bodyfat %, it’s not really all that important to know in life. I haven’t really checked my bodyfat % in a long while, and don’t think I’m going to. You don’t need to know that you’re losing weight by stepping on the scale everyday. You’ll know it when your pants start to fall down, or when your abs start actually showing.

Light lifting is really good for you!!!

For the past 4 or 5 weeks now, I’ve been doing everything light lifting with more reps in the gym. It feels great. You can STILL get a great burn and you’ll feel great after too. See? Bodybuilding shouldn’t be about being able to lift as heavy as you possibly can. It’s good to mix it up. I’ll get back into heavy lifting at some point, but I’m going to do less and less heavy lifting. Will focus more on light lifting. People are afraid to lift light ’cause they fear you won’t get muscle mass out of it. Well you can.

Just do 3 sets of 20 reps, with just using 5 or 10 lb dumbbells, tell me how you will feel. I got back into my fitness routines this week and feeling really good.

I keep my nutrition clean most of the week and have 1 or 2 cheat days on the weekends. I keep my nutrition simple, nothing too complicated. I only eat about 4 or 5 small meals a day. I don’t need 6. 6 meals are for the pro bodybuilders. I’m not looking to be like a pro, I just want to get in decent enough shape.

Can’t wait for the warm weather to return and I’ll be able to do outside cardio again. Either jogging or riding the bike. I know I haven’t posted shirtless progress photos in quite a long while, maybe I’ll take a few this weekend.

“The Twin Muscle” youtube channel by the Hodge Twins, became pretty addicting…

The Hodge Twins have become big youtube sensations with their bodybuilding instructional stuff, so some of you probably heard of them. There are other popular youtube trainers like Scooby, luimarco, Scott Herman, etc., but I think the Hodge Twins do a better job than anybody else. Their fitness information can be pretty factual and true. They don’t just make stuff up like a lot of others do.  It looks like these guys do their homework before posting things.

Not only that they are good at what they do, they keep their videos funny and entertaining. They can be like, “Hey man, you wanna build some muscle man, you can build some fuckin’ muscle”. LOL, you’ll get the idea when you start watching their videos.

You can either love ’em or hate ’em,  they’re an inspiration and what they’re doing is good. I subscribed to their youtube channel, so I can follow it on a daily basis. I agree with a lot of their information. It’s good stuff. Most fitness youtube channels are crap, but the Twin Muscle channel is one of the best ones. Keep up the good work, dudes!

Check out their Channel, here.

Starting Monday in the gym…

…I’m going to start lifting everything really light for the next couple of months. To see what kind of results I get.

When you go to a public gym, I just don’t understand why so many guys want to lift extremely heavy all the time. You never see anyone lifting light. It’s crazy! It’s just that most guys in a gym has an ego problem that they want to feel strong all the time.

Look, I know lifting 5 to 10 lbs of weights may look a little silly in a gym but it’s worth it. You can grow better muscle lifting light and more reps! For the past 4 years of me going to the gym. I’ve been mixing it up a lot. Lifting from light to medium weights to a little heavier.

I’m planning on doing something a little different by lifting everything light for a long while. See what that does. Guys mistakenly think that lifting heavy all the time will get good muscle definition when it’s nothing but a myth.

I don’t lift that heavy in the gym anyway. The heaviest I can lift on dumbbells is between 25 to 30 lbs. The heaviest I can lift on machines are medium weights like 70 – 90 lbs, that’s not heavy, it’s medium. Heavy weights are something like 200 lbs. or way more. I’m not up there yet and probably never will be.

Bodybuilding shouldn’t be about lifting heavy as possible. Plus, if you lift heavy all the time, it could kill you and wear you out. Get more injuries and mess up your joints.

I’m surprised, I haven’t witnessed an injury at the public gym, I work out at. While it is terrible for somebody to get injured, it’ll still be interesting to see at a public gym ’cause it will be a good lesson for everyone else if they witness it.

Like I said, I’ll experiment with lifting light for a long while and if I like the results that come out of it, I’ll keep at it. Lifting light, even with just a 5 lb. dumbbell, you can still get bigger muscle. In reality, lifting heavy really doesn’t do anything.

Edit to add: Remember the old saying in the bodybuilding world, “More isn’t more”, and it’s true!

Cool Video: Are shocking before and after photos on the internet real? Not all of them…

You see all kinds of shocking before & after photos in the muscle magazines and on the internet, but are all of them real? Not all of them. This guy in this video exposes the truth on how fake some of those photos can be.

I could do the same with my before & after photos easily. If I wanted to, I can make myself look like a sexy muscular hunk that women drool over with a good photographer, good lighting and photo shop work.

Of course, I’m not going to do that though. I never faked my before & after photos. All progress photos I posted online are 100% real.

Enjoy this great video. I hate most fitness videos in youtube but this one of the best ones I’ve seen. Very informative and so true.

Violence is never the answer with fitness, folks…

There are some people online who mistakenly think that I may have gotten into fitness in preparation for a fight with a certain someone. Not true. I’m not a violent guy. Never was. I don’t pick fights with people. I won’t fight someone no matter how bad a person is, because violence is never the answer in the fitness & bodybuilding world. That’s one of the biggest problems in bodybuilding. A lot of muscular guys want to act tough and a lot of them become violent over this way. It is why you see a lot of bodybuilders getting in trouble with the law, getting in trouble for fighting and all that stuff.

While violence in bodybuilding is never the answer, it is good to use for self defense only though. If someone tried to pick a fight with you or if you get jumped by a group of people, you can do whatever it takes to save your own ass. It doesn’t matter if you knock their teeth out or punch their faces in, whatever it takes to save your own life, it’s all good. I believe you won’t get arrested for self defense.

This is one of the reasons why I got into bodybuilding. For protection of my own self. If I get confronted by some internet hater in person, I would do whatever it takes to save myself. That’s a promise.

I’ll admit the reason I got into bodybuilding, was hoping to attract some women…

Bodybuilding is most popular with men ’cause they want to attract the ladies. I’ll have to admit that’s one of the main reasons, why I got into it too. I’ve learned that most women out there, like fit & muscular guys. This is kind of working for me a little bit ’cause I’m starting to get more women talking to me more, and more ladies have been adding me in facebook lately.

I figure if I want to get myself a nice woman, I’d changed my lifestyle and get in good enough shape.

I’m hoping I’ll be successful at this and hopefully start dating someone soon.
