Man, I am getting pretty tired of all this bully talk in the news lately. Can’t understand why it’s a trending topic in the news. Like I said in the previous post about “bullying”, anybody can become a victim of bullying, not just gay people. Bullies target those that are weak, aren’t able to defend themselves, fat people, ugly people, etc. You get the drill. Trying to get someone else to stop the bullying won’t solve anything. The only way to end bullying is how? You gotta learn how to stick up for yourself. Don’t be afraid of the bullies and fight back. Go ahead and use your temper, if he punches you first, go ahead and fight back with violence anyway you can. Learn to swear and cuss at the bully, or start holding your fists up.
This is honestly, one of the reasons I’m bulking up and trying to get jacked. So that people would think twice before saying something mean to me. While violence is not the answer with fitness, it is okay to use it for self defense only though. That’s what you need to do. If you have people picking on ya in front of your face in person, then you need to do something about it yourself. I’m sure everybody gets bullied when they were in high school, I’ve had gotten bullied in high school, of course.
You can’t let the bullies get to ya. Be brave, and don’t be afraid of ’em. Of course, you never know if bullies will have a weapon like a gun or a knife or something, there are still ways to protect yourself from that also. If tough guys want to be a tough guy to you, all you have to do is be a tough guy to them in return. They’ll leave ya alone after that, trust me.

I’m going to start listening to a lot more jazz music. I learned that if you play guitar and want to get better at the instrument, listen to a lot of jazz. I already do listen to some. I like jazz artists such as Miles Davis, Pat Metheny and Herbie Hancock, but I need to listen to a lot more. Just started listening to Wes Montgomery as you see in the pic above, got one of his greatest hits albums in Itunes. I’m not giving up rock n’ roll and metal, of course. I will never outgrow that. I just want to listen to something different. I will probably get into a lot more jazz artists too such as Al Di Meola, Allan Holdsworth, Django Reinhardt, and plenty of more. After listening to Wes Montgomery, I have to say that I like it very much. Jazz is very good to get into.
I want to start learning jazz guitar. It might help bring my guitar playing to the next level and become more professional. I want to become a better guitar player.
When not working out in the gym, I spend the rest of the time playing guitar. Your body needs relaxing and healing from working out, so guitar playing is a good way to get rest. So is playing video games, watching movies or listening to music.
Not only I want to learn jazz guitar, I want to listen to jazz ’cause I find that jazz helps calm’s me down and it’s relaxing. Playing lead guitar along with jazz music is good ear training too. Jazz music is awesome. If you’re a music lover and you say you can’t get into jazz, then you aren’t a true music lover over all. You should enjoy all genres of music. I even enjoy classical and opera sometimes as well.

The blog’s been slow this weekend ’cause I had a death in the family earlier this week. I won’t reveal who passed on publicly but it is somebody close to my family. I attended the funeral over the weekend and was selected as one of the pallbearer’s to help carry the casket. Not too worry, though, I’m all good and cool. I am sad over this person’s passing of course, ’cause I try to stay positive and strong. Saw all kinds of family and friends over the weekend, so that made the weekend a little better.
That’s why this blog has been slow this weekend, been busy with my personal life off the computer.
I will say this though that most everyone I talked to over the weekend commented on my fitness physique. Most everyone says I’m looking really good and fit. Someone over the weekend asked me to flex my arms, I at first refused to do it ’cause I am a little shy to show off my muscles in public, I guess, but they talked me into it. When I finally did flex my arms and my biceps the whole crowd at the family party after the funeral, all eyes were on me with a shocked look on their face. True story, believe me. I wish I’d caught that on video. I did not go shirt less ’cause no one asked me to yet.
The thing with body building and fitness, you can’t even tell your own strength and can’t tell if you look good or not. When you get so many people commenting on your physique in a positive way, then you’ll know you’re going somewhere.
I’ve been doing more cardio over the week too, did more jogging and jump roping, hoping to lose a little more bodyfat, to drop down a couple. I want to measure my own bodyfat, my own way with just a tape measure. I don’t trust those computerized callipers at the gym.
I will catch up with the blog more tonight and the rest of the week.

I will soon be bringing my official music site, myspace, and twitter back. I will be promoting my old music again that I made back in 2006, my old demo. I will also try to figure out how to get that old demo on Itunes for people to buy. This is just a tease that I’ll be getting serious with music again. Writing new songs and hopefully start playing live shows again.
I will bring my official site back under a new domain company if I can find an affordable one. I will also make a new blog site to post stuff about my music only. I will still keep this blog and will use this one for entertainment news, but the other blog, I will use for my music.
I miss the music thing. Time to get out of this hiatus and go back to it!.

There are too many people online these days that seems to be interested in my sex life. Talking about it and questioning it. If you think I’m going to discuss these things with people publicly online, think again. You don’t see me getting into your sex life, do ya? Alright then, stay the hell out of mine. I don’t know where all the gay/bicurious rumours and the weird fantasies come from ’cause I tell ya right now, that all those things are not true. I can understand why people think I’m gay or bicurious ’cause I’m single and haven’t really dated a woman in a long time, and I’m into fitness/bodybuilding. I’m also a fan of UFC/WWE and action movie stars, that’s could be another reason.
I’m a 100%, straight. I love women all the way. Really I do. Yes, I may be into porn and naked women and all that, I might have a few weird sexual fantasies here and there but doesn’t everybody? I’m sure even you have some weird and dark sexual fantasy in your life. I’m pretty sure a lot of you are into much weirder things such as Bondage/BDSM, maybe you’re into the swinging life style, maybe you’re the type of couple that likes to get it on with other couples, etc. Things like that, I think you’d get the point. There’s nothing wrong with having sexual fantasies ’cause everybody has ’em.
If other people have weird fantasies, that’s fine, I don’t care, that’s their business. Let them enjoy what they want to enjoy, it’s not for you to get into. These things are meant for their own privacy and enjoyment. People picking others for this kind of stuff is wrong and childish. People having sexual fantasies, no matter what it is, it’s a normal thing. It’s what couples and singles do in their sex life.
I will not talk about these things with people. Like I said, it’s none of your business but my own.
Kev
LOL, here we go again. More anonymity, people hiding behind screen names to call me an internet troll. You know that’s funny. The truth is, I don’t care what people think of me. I’m not afraid and not upset over internet anonymity. So you people can continue to talk trash about me anonymously and continue to make tabloids, all you want to. I will just continue to be myself as a person and will continue to say as I please.
I refuse to talk about my sex life with anybody ’cause it is no one elses’ business but my own. Most of the things people say about me is not true. I’m not gay, and not bicurious at all. I’m a woman lover, all the way, baby! 🙂
If you want to continue to anonymously attack me in facebook, twitter, or myspace, where ever, etc. Go right ahead. I thank you for the extra publicity ’cause you don’t realize that you are doing nothing but promoting me as a blogger, musician, and fitness person. The thing is, I don’t attack local bands anymore like I used to. I’m not that kind of guy anymore, but people will always find something to call me a “troll” about, no matter the situation. No matter how better of a person I become online. Just to make me look ridiculous and try to humiliate me online, for their own amusement. I become to realize that these are bored people looking for things to laugh at and poke fun of.
As far as me attacking that certain band that should be nameless goes, in reality, I don’t “hate” them and actually respect them in a way. I just want them to concentrate on their music and their own career. I don’t want them to make me look ridiculous in front of their fans/supporters. Come on dudes, be a professional, I know you’re better than this. I’m actually a good dude, if you treat myself with respect, I’ll treat you the same way. It’s simple as that. If you continue to do what you do is your anonymous bullcrap, then you people are definitely jealous of me for something. Not sure if you’re jealous of my music or fitness or a little bit of both or what, but keep in mind, I always tried to be cool with everyone. I think you do all this with a fit of jealousy rage, nothing more.
I don’t have time for internet games ’cause all I care about is two things: playing my guitar and working out. I will continue to be myself, no matter how many people whine and complain, I can’t please everybody.

I’ve been reading, “How to Write Songs on Guitar” instruction book by Ricky Rooksby. In songwriting, the book says that nobody needs to be perfect in songwriting. In the book, it gives you the advice that there are no rules in songwriting. You can write songs however you please. Just write whatever feels good to you. You don’t always have to do the most common structure, “verse chorus verse chorus bridge chorus (2x’s)” like most songs are that way, and you don’t even have to make lyrics rhyme if you don’t want to. I’ve read a part in the book where it says that if you feel that your lyrics are bad, then you need to look at most of top 40 songs today, that most of today’s lyrics are horrible. So like I said, music doesn’t need to be in perfection, just write whatever you feel.
I’ve been studying music again to learn theory and improvisation. I want to learn how chords and scales work together so I can play in key without missing a note. Get better at ear training and stuff like that. Learning theory is not that hard to understand, it’s simple to learn. I’m getting the hang of that stuff.
I’ve been listening to my older demo CD I made back in 2006 and listening to those songs, made me realize that I miss performing on the stage.
Oh yeah, I have a facebook fanpage now, feel free to “like” but this page is for true fans who actually do support me and my music. I do have a “fanbase” out there, so I made this page to prove it that I do have a following. Â This will be used for my music only. So this is a hint that a Kev Brock comeback to music is about to happen soon.

I’m trying to figure out how to get a music player on there with my songs on it.

If you’re the type of musician and songwriter that gets mixed opinions about your music whether people like it or hate it, when people give you negative feedback on your songs, what are ways to improve? Some people will say just ignore the critics and “haters”, but the truth is, musicians can’t ignore them. You have to take the critics seriously. Here’s why. If you’re going to ignore your critics, you’re never gonna go anywhere with your music. That’s what music is here for. You put it out, people will give feedback on it, good or bad.
If some folks think your music needs more work, like if your guitar playing or the lyrics need to get better or the vocals are not good enough. Take it seriously and take their advice. Usually when the critics bash a musicians music, they usually explain why. So listen to them and do everything as they say. If you do what they say, re-work the song until it gets better. When you re-release the song, maybe they will like it next time around and give you more respect.
That’s how you deal with critics and haters is by improving your craft in music. When people think a song of yours is absolute crap, don’t be afraid to keep re-writing the song until it’s right. If people are trashing your music, then people aren’t feeling it. When you get so many people bashing your music, take some time off from songwriting and improve your skills. Practice your guitar more, practice writing lyrics and work on your vocals.
If you feel that your vocals aren’t good enough for your own songs, then don’t be afraid to get a better singer to have someone else sing them for you, ’cause I’m thinking about doing exactly that. Thinking about having someone else sing the lead for my lyrics. I might just sing backup, that’s about it. This is what you need to do if you want to earn more respect as a songwriter. Listen to people’s advice and take them. This is where I’m coming from. I’m thinkg of ways to improve as a songwriter and guitarist. So I’m now out there buying instructional books to get advice from them and learn to get better. I’m teaching myself to learn how to play better guitar, hopefully get into the advanced level.
If you’re proud of your music, and you want your songs to get the respect they deserve, learn to improve them. That’s what it takes to be a successful songwriter.
Kev
I have been playing a lot more guitar these days. I just want to go to “pretty good” guitarist to being an actual “musician”. I feel I play rhythym guitar pretty well and can make my own riffs fine. I just want to improve my lead soloing. Get better at guitar solos. Now, I don’t want to be a shredder. I’ll never play like Joe Satriani or Steve Vai, I just want to play some good lead guitar in a blues/rock kind of way.
Everybody thinks guitar improvisation is really difficult and challenging. You see, not really. All you gotta do is learn theory which should be simple to learn and then memorize the notes on the guitar in your head. That’s pretty much it. I’m not afraid to admit that I’m not good at improvisation. I could figure out songs by ear fine, but it’s the guitar soloing I need worked on. I want to have a better ear at it. Be able to improvise without having anyone to tell me what notes to play. Improvise mean being able to play everything you hear, in the right key.
I’m studying music again and will stick with it to achieve my music goals and get better. When I get better, that will be an appropriate time to form a band. I’ve always wanted to form my own rock group and will one day. I just want to do all lead guitar work in the band, rather than having someone else play all the solos in the songs. If I ever formed a band, it would be just a three piece: guitar, drums and bass probably. When will I form a band? When I feel the time is right. I want my chance to experience the full band thing and one day I will.
Many of my acoustic songs that I write were originally meant to be played in a full band. That’s how I hear my songs, full band rock songs. I play ’em on acoustic first ’cause I don’t have a band yet. I jammed on “Mr. Tough Guy”, a song I wrote, with a band once and it was a lot of fun.
Now that I finally have an electric guitar and amp, that’s why I feel it’s time to get better at it. I just want to play guitar ’cause it’s my passion. I will do the band thing at some point ’cause there are other musicians around here that DO support my music. I don’t have much full band experience and would like to start soon.
