Report: The Police play final gig in NYC at Madison Square Garden Aug. 7th…

The Police – Sting, Andy Summers, and Stu Copeland played their final and last gig ever at NYC in Madison Square Garden Aug. 7th. The band played a sky rocketing 151 shows and the band made more than $358 million playing those shows.

The band played most of their usual hit songs that everyone knows such as “Message In A Bottle”, “Everybreathe You Take”, “Roxanne”, “Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic” and plenty more but the band threw in a few surprising cover songs such as Cream’s “Sunshine of Your Love”.

Sting invited his young daughters to the stage to dance along with their father during “Every Little Thing She Does…”. During the band’s cover of Jimi Hendrix’s “Purple Haze”, during the guitar solo of that song, Sting went backstage and a video screen appeared with Sting getting his beard shaved. Sting then came back out on stage, clean shaven.

When the band closed off their set, the three of the band member stood next to each other and gave the audience one final bow, hugged, and runned around on stage while the Fat Lady sang. A Looney Tunes song “That’s all folks” played as the band walked off stage.

The setlist for Madison Square Garden August 7th:

“Message in a Bottle”
“Walking on the Moon”

Sounds like a good show, I’ll buy the live CD/DVD when it hits stores.

Now Sting will probably go back to his solo career and release a new solo album after this.

The Listening Room: The new Sugarland song rocks!!!

Geez, no wonder Sugarland beat Miley Cyrus in the billboard. I’m not into country much hardily at all, hell, I even don’t like the country group Sugarland too much. I ain’t afraid to say that I’m digging their new song, “All I Want To Do”.

It’s a great tune. I don’t think I’ll buy Sugarland’s new album, but I do like this one song though. I love the melody to the chorus, very catchy and definitely something to sing along to. Can’t get this song out of my head.

Report: Rage Against the Machine plays thundering set that got audience into riot and violence…

Sources are saying that the iconic metal rap rockers Rage Against the Machine played their most tightest and thundering rock set in the history of the band’s career. When you get the audience going into a riot and going fuckin’ wild, you’ll know it’s true!

Tom Morello, Zach De La Rocha and the boys took the stage last night at Lollapalooza 2008 the longtime music festival being runned and owned by rock musician Perry Ferrell. Their set starts off which sounds like a fire alarm going off, the alarm sound goes on for like a few minutes while a red star appears on the screen giving the audience a clue of who the next band is. When Zach finally walked on stage, the audience started screaming. Then they were off immediately not wasting any time and blasted into thunder rap/rock.

During the band’s set, the crowd got too aggressive and violent that the band had to slow down their set and stop a few times to wait for the audience to calm down. There were no serious injuries or deaths but the medical staff at Lollapalooza treated fans that suffered small bruises and dehydration. Only two fans during the Rage set were thrown out of the concert by security due to violent behavior.

RATM played most of their classic hits such as “Bulls on Parade”, “Testify”, “Bullet to the Head” and plenty more. Rage has not played any new material live yet as I don’t think the band is writing new material just yet.

CD Review: Motley Crue “The Saints of Los Angeles”…

The boys in the Crue are back! Yes, the original members of the popular hairmetal band Motley Crue have a new album out titled “The Saints of Los Angeles”. The band still have the same lineup; Vince Neil, Mick Mars, Nikki Sixx, and Tommy Lee. This is the band’s first studio album in 8 years since 2000’s “The New Tattoo”.

I listened to this album quite several times actually and can not stop listening to it. It is actually a really good album and very well done. Probably the best I’ve heard from the boys in years. The album starts off with an intro that says “Welcome to Los Angeles”. The songs on the disc are actually catchy, Tommy Lee’s drumming skills is actually pretty tight. Vince’s vocals are actually fun to listen to but what caught my attention on the disc the most is the guitar playing of Mick Mars. He’s created some pretty cool kick ass riffs and great guitar solos.

The album really does bring back old school Crue back in the 80’s. It is really a fun album, I liked it a lot. Great job guys.

My favorite tracks: “Down at the Whisky”, “Saints of Los Angeles” (album title track), “The Animal In Me”, “Just Another Psycho”, and “White Trash Circus”.

Score for Motley Crue’s “The Saint of Los Angeles” **** (4 stars as in excellent)

Cool Video: Kirk Hammett recording riffs in studio for “Death Magnetic”…

This video was posted on the Mission: Metallica site, while I’m not a payed registered member to Mission: Metallica, all the videos in the studio being posted there get leaked to youtube anyways.

Kirk Hammett here is recording riffs to go behind James Hetfield’s vocals in a song Kirk and the producers are recording. While Kirk was recording a few riffs down, the producer hands Kirk a “flanger” pedal. The producer asked him to use that pedal, Kirk looks at it a few minutes, and then he hooks it up to the amp and rocks out.

After the producer played back the recorded riffs Kirk just recorded in the video, the producer asked him to make a cool effect out of that flanger. And the sound is way badass. It sounds fuckin’ metal. The way Metallica is supposed to be, not that alternative rock shit they did in “Load/Reload/St. Anger”.

Check it out!
