Famous author, J.D. Salinger has passed away. He was 91. He died of natural causes at his New Hampshire home. Most would know him from his legendary novel, “The Catcher In the Rye” which I probably read back in high school. This man lived a long life, doing what he loved. Writing. He also wrote, “Nine Stories” and “Franny and Zoey”. An author I’ve always respected like everyone.

Actress, Zelda Rubinstein, who is a little person actress, she was 4-foot-3 has passed away. Most would know her from the “Poltergeist” trilogy, which made her most famous for playing the iconic role of Tangina Barrons. The psychic that tries to help the Freeling family find Carol Anne.
I remember when I was a kid, I used to be really scared by this Zelda woman from the “Poltergeist” movies. Her acting really creeped you out in those films, the way her unique speaking voice is. She really played that role amazingly. I’ll never forget it. She has always been my favorite character in those movies. Now she can finally rest to the “Other Side” with Heather O’ Rourke. Will Zelda come out of the static TV screen now?

A punk rock musician from Memphis, Tennessee, Jimmy Lee Lindsey Jr. or better known as “Jay Reatard” was found dead in his home in Memphis. The rocker lived his whole life in Memphis. He first started his music career with his first band, The Reatards, which inspired his staged name, Jay Reatard. He also played in a few other bands called Lost Sounds, Bad Times, and the Final Solutions. After Jay’s band, The Reatards, quit on him sometime around Oct. of 2009, Jay released a new solo album not too long ago, titled, “Watch Me Fall” released August 4, 2009. While Jay Reatard was only 29 years old, from the sounds of things, it looks like he never did drugs as he was a pretty healthy guy. Before his death, he was sick with flu like symptoms. Jay’s record label, Matador Records confirmed his death.
Jay Reatard was a talented musician, and unique. I liked his music. It’s a shame he was taken so soon since he just released a brand new record. At least, he was born in Memphis and died in Memphis. I think that’s what he would have wanted. Now that he’s gone, maybe his new album “Watch Me Fall” will sell well. Maybe even make no. 1 in the Billboard Top 200 if he’s lucky.
While most of today’s punk music sucks so much, Jay Reatard was a true punk music artist of today’s generation. So sad. Kind of devastated. 😦

Well, look like this is the first celebrity death of 2010. Casey Johnson, of the legendary company, Johnson & Johnson, (a company that sells products from shampoos, soaps, beauty products, etc.) has died. The legendary company Johnson & Johnson was first started by her great-great grandfather, Robert Wood Johnson, one of the co-founders of Johnson & Johnson, who started it with his brothers. She was only 30 years old.
Sad. Now she can rest with Robert Wood and all the other Johnson’s who helped ran the company in the past. She was a nice looking woman too.

Now you can add folk rock singer/songwriter, Vic Chesnutt, to the LONG list of dead celebrities of 2009. Vic was a singer/songwriter who lived in Athens, Georgia. He was paralyzed at 18 from a car accident that put him on a wheelchair. Even if on a wheelchair, he was still able to sing and play guitar. He died in a coma after a suicide attempt. Chesnutt has released a total 15 albums in his discography, and R.EM.’s Michael Stipe produced his first two albums. It was Michael Stipe that discovered him, got him a record deal and made him famous. Vic Chesnutt was 45 years old.
James Brown, the Godfather of Soul, also died on Christmas Day.
The band R.E.M. did a tribute and homage for Vic Chesnutt on their official website:

After seeing these videos, he was an incredible talent and makes me want to buy some of his music.

I was never really a big fan of her acting, but she deserves my respect. Actress, Brittany Murphy died today, due to cardiac arrest according to TMZ. She’s starred in a number of movies and TV shows over the years of her career.
Of course, the film that made her famous and well known, is “Clueless”. She’s also starred in other well known movies such as “Don’t Say a Word”, “Girl, Interupted”, “Sin City”, “Riding In Cars with Boys”, “8 Mile”, and more.
Recently, she was signed for a small role in the upcoming Sylvester Stallone action flick, “The Expendables”, but due to Sly writing her out in a script re-write, her role was excluded of the film.
She was also known as a supermodel actress which she appeared in pictorials for many men’s magazines such as Maxim, FHM, etc. She’s usually very high in almost all top women’s lists.
News broke first on TMZ where she died at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, a hospital in Los Angeles. She was 32 years old. So young, taken so soon. So sad, since this is just before the Holidays.
2009 has been a sad year for celebrity losses.

Very sad news. Definitely sounds like drugs or steroids to me. He was a very talented performer. I’ve always liked him. May he rest in peace.

I gotta hand it to Perez Hilton. Ever since this controversy started back in the Miss USA days when this whole Perez vs. Carrie feud started, I used to think Carrie deserves her freedom of speech and her opinions about whatever she wants, but I’m gonna go back on Perez’s side. He’s doing a great job telling the public of what kind of woman Carrie Prejean is. Perez is getting my respect again.
Carrie is getting worse and worse in the media, Perez is doing a good thing exposing her.
Watch this disastrous interview on Larry King. Larry is trying to be a nice guy, he is accused of being inappropriate when she is the one being inappropriate and rude. Larry should have walked over and smacked her across the face.
