Finding the right workouts for pecs, I think I finally found ’em…

When you want a good all around muscular physique you need to workout every body part. I’ve been doing just that, except the only thing I’ve been having trouble with for the past year or so is trying to find ways to define my chest pecs more. I needed more work on the chest in the past, and I think I’ve finally found the right workouts that works the chest hard. Lately, I’ve been feeling my chest getting a little bigger and growing because of these workouts…

-dumb bell flies (decline or regular bench)

-cable cross over

-bench press on the Smith machine

-Various pushups

I will continue to do those. My pecs are finally getting results and shaping up a little I think. I’ll show y’all, soon so you can be the judge.

I used to disagree with bench pressing but I guess I’ll have a change of heart with it and do it more often. I don’t do those workouts every single week though ’cause that would be over training. I just do different chest workouts each week.

I may not look like a professional wrestler or an action movie star, yet, but I’m doing the best I can to improve them. I need bigger pecs so my physique can look right. I just do 3 sets to 12 reps each, and only take 30 second rest in between. I also find that useful to building muscle quicker. You want better results? Don’t rest too long in between sets. That’s how I always trained. Not resting too long in between sets, then I’m back to work.

Crazy things people do at public gyms…

After having working out at public gyms for the past two years now, I’ve been observing on how people do things there. It is amazing to me how rude people can be at the gyms.

Here is a short list that I’ve seen people do that are pretty crazy:

  • Equipment Hogging – This is the big one. I’ve seen people take up so much time on a piece of equipment that I needed to use. Maybe a half hour or more. Why do people take so long? Maybe more than one workout on the same equipment, talking on the cell phone so long in between sets, or talking to other people, etc. This is very rude. Some people think the gym is all for themselves.
  • People doing workouts in bad form – You see all kinds of people doing workouts in terrible form, but you don’t want to say anything ’cause it might piss them off and he/she might become defensive. Some people do workout in great form and some don’t, but I see too many people workout terribly.
  • Doing workouts in front of dumbbell sets – You see this all the time. Guys walk up to the dumbbell set and do workouts with dumbbells in front of the set. When I need to grab dumbbells myself and I see someone working out in front of the dumbbell rack, I’d either say, “excuse me please” or I work my way around them. When you need dumbbells at the gym, grab the weight you need and do your workouts away from it, so other people can get theirs. Again, the gym is not just for you.
  • People drinking not so healthy beverages – Coffee, soda, Gatorades, Snapple’s, etc. All that instead of water. You won’t get much success losing weight drinking that garbage. Sorry!
  • Socializing – This is a huge problem at all gyms. People go to the gym and talking with other people for more than a half hour or maybe even hours. Hello! You’re wasting your time at the gym chatting with other people. Hey, don’t get me wrong, I enjoy meeting new people at gyms as I do meet new people at gyms once in a while, but when I’m working out, leave me alone. Your muscles are calling for your weights to be worked on, but nothing’s being done if you’re wasting time chatting with other people. Just wait until you get your workouts done, then you can chat with other people at the gym. It’s good to talk with people after your workouts, not before or during. You need your concentration. Sorry.
  • Making loud noises with weights or dropping them to the floor – This is very common at gyms. Guys getting weights for barbells or dumbbells, making really loud clanging noises. This I find very annoying. When I grab the weights I need, I handle them very carefully and quietly, so they won’t make noise. The noise distracts other people working out. People dropping weights to the floor by accident happens often too. If the weight is too heavy for ya, get a spotter. Dropping heavy weight can damage the gym floor work, of course, people can’t think about that. Even worse you could get injured. Drop weights on your foot, you’ll be wearing a foot cast for a couple of months. Don’t want that do ya?
  • Benchers never using a spotter – You see this all the time. Guys benching without a spotter. Just because you have a lot of experience in bodybuilding and know what you’re doing, still doesn’t mean an accident will happen.
  • People staring – When I work out, at the public gyms, I get a lot of stares. Seriously. Not sure if they are admiring my physique or admire how I do things or they’re just jealous eyes, but the staring is kind of bothersome and distracting. I don’t stare at other people working out ’cause I concentrate on my own thing.

I can think of plenty of more, but public gyms can be crazy. People like to use the gym as their own personal playground but not me. I go there to get in shape and to get ripped. That’s all I go there for.

Thought: The sexy washboard that everyone wants, how to get it???

In facebook and other blogs, I just love it how people waste all this time doing all these ab exercises like sit ups, crunches, planks, etc. thinking that’ll give them the sexy washboard that a lot of people are dying for lately. I’m not afraid to say that is one of my goals in fitness too, to get a full visible six pack or maybe even an 8 pack. I try my best to tell people that the only way to get a visible six pack is lower the body fat that’s covering it, by doing two things: 1) Good nutrition 2) Plenty of cardio. That’s it. If you can eat healthy most of the time and do lots of cardio like 1) Running 2) Biking 3) Jogging or 4) Cardio machines at the gym, then you’re on your way to losing body fat. That’s the only way to get abs, period.

There are people in facebook that think they can eat what they want and drink all the alcohol they want, yet, they are doing all these ab exercises, and totally ignoring the healthy nutrition and cardio. People are weird like that. No wonder people fail at getting the six pack abs.

If you want the six pack, you have to change your eating style for good. You have to avoid sugars, high calories, fatty foods, fried stuff, etc. It is still okay to get off the diet and cheat, but make sure it’s on the weekends only like I do. I eat a strict nutrition during the week and on weekends I eat what I want. People also mistakenly call this a “diet”, when it should be called a “Clean nutrition”.

I’m pretty sure, I’m right. I think I have the full visible washboard, I’m pretty sure I’m just about there. I’m going to post new progress pics soon to prove it. Maybe sometime next month.

I’ll admit it, that another reason for the muscular body is I’m hoping to attract more chicks. Women like muscles on guys, so getting the washboard might help more women to check me out when I’m shirtless in the Summer time. It’s normal, because that’s why everyone wants the washboard to look sexy.

Just eat right and do a lot of cardio, then you’ll get there.

Not A Cool Video: Is Scooby right about squats or is he full of crock???

Squats is the most popular bodybuilding workout of them all. You see guys and even women do this workout all the time, at all gyms, all over the world.

I experimented with squats on the “Smith Machine”, but I’ve been lifting light. I’ve been experimenting with different leg workouts and wanted to try out the squat. It really is a strong workout. It really pumps up your quads, hamstrings, and your ass, all around.

Is it really a dangerous workout that he claims? He could be right in some way, but I think he’s somewhat, full of crock too. ALL WORKOUTS in the gym can be pretty risky. Even the leg press or any of those leg machines can mess up your legs, or even your whole damn body. Just do every workout in perfect form at all times and don’t lift too heavy, and the exercises can be very safe for you.

Scoob is just trying to scare the hell out of people and get people to stop doing squats. I’m pretty sure a lot of pro bodybuilders are laughing at this guy.

The Smith Machine

At the Greenwich Y, I’ve been using the Smith Machine for a variety of workouts lately. I love the Smith Machine. It is very easy and simple to use, plus it’s very safe.

I just love it how when you go to a gym, you see a bunch of guys doing regular benching without a spotter. I’ve been seeing that at the Y a lot lately. Guys benching without a spotter, when there is a Smith machine right there, not being used. I’m sure they know that they should be using the Smith Machine if they don’t have a spotter. The only reason they want to bench without a spotter is because they want to be show offs on how heavy they can lift.

I’ve been benching on the Smith Machine every week, now. It’s so much easier and safer. If you need to bench and don’t have a spotter, use the Smith Machine. People always think you need to bench heavy all the time. They claim it’s used to see how heavy you can lift.

Not with me. I’m about getting bigger pecs and in order to do that, you must mix it up, lift light or heavy. Take your time with the bench and not rush into lifting heavy, that’s what I’m about. The Smith Machine is great. That machine gets ignored a lot at the gym because most people prefer the regular benching because of their “show-off” attitude. I’ve never had the “show-off” attitude in the gym. I don’t go to the gym to be a tough guy in front of everyone else. I’m all about strict concentration and doing things for me. The Smith Machine and regular benching are both pretty much the same thing, except the only difference is, the Smith Machine is safer to use without a spotter.

I don’t have a workout partner yet, so I do the safe workouts that don’t require a spotter. If I needed a spotter for something, I would ask an employee at the gym to take a few minutes to spot me.

My pecs seems to be getting a little bigger and shaping up. I’m feeling it. I’ve been doing various other chest exercises chest days too like the cable crossovers, incline dumbbell press and the decline flies. I’ve cut down on the push ups to see what those workouts can do to me.

I’ll post new progress pics soon. I may not look like an underwear model yet, but I think I’m off to a great start. I’m just not rushing myself. I just want to get healthy and be happy, that’s what it should be all about.

Not a Cool Video: This is the type of stuff I would stay away from in bodybuilding…

This youtube channel just sent me a friend request, so I approved it, since I approve anything that adds me in youtube. I just couldn’t help but laugh. Ya see, I can’t see myself getting into this. Why would I want to be working out in a gym with a bunch of half naked dudes?

I would never get that huge in bodybuilding, that’s not the kind of physique I’m looking for. If you’re looking for a better idea of the kind of physique that I want. I want the medium built, wrestler size physique. I want a physique like Sly has. That’s my goal.

This fake competition, I want nothing to do with. This stuff is funny to laugh at though.

Dark Chocolate is actually very healthy

Are you into fitness and need your Chocolate for Valentine’s day? In Facebook the other day, I suggested everyone that Dark Chocolate is the most healthy chocolate out there. Study says that Dark Chocolate is very healthy. If you don’t believe me look it up yourself.

When people get into fitness, they think they can stay away from junk for good. Dark Chocolate is part of a meal plan. It won’t make you fat and it will keep you in shape. It is better than regular chocolate. Regular chocolate is bad, but Dark is better.

Google – Dark Chocolate and Health or Fitness, and almost every article, says “yes” to dark chocolate. For V-Tines day, I got a small bag of dark chocolate. If you need your chocolate fix, “dark” is the best way to go.

It won’t ruin your six pack and you won’t lose muscle with dark chocolate.  I love dark chocolate. I don’t eat it  all the time, but once in a while. I wouldn’t even call “dark chocolate” a cheat meal, it actually can be part of a healthy meal plan.

Why I would never do bodybuilding competitions…

Whenever I get a good enough body that will be good for bodybuilding competition, would I do it? I’ve said it before, I would never do it. All the fake Flex Wheeler and Mr. Olympia bullshit, are the kind of stuff I would want to stay away from. Why? Because I always found it silly, and I always saw it as a bunch of guys that are desperate for attention. I’ve seen some bodybuilding competitions in youtube and on TV before. I can’t see myself doing that at all. I would feel very uncomfortable standing in front of a huge crowd on stage like that. I would probably get stage fright. I don’t get stage fright when performing music on stage, but I would be nervous and a little scared of the competition. I respect Arnold Schwarzenegger for what he did to the competition, though. He was the one who helped make it popular and mainstream.

If I was to pose my muscular physique to the public, it would be for photos for the internet, on the performing stage for music,  or on the beach. It won’t be for competition. I don’t care how many people want me to do the competition thing, it’s not for me.

About body hair shaving part 2…

Ya know, if ya think about it. I will never shave the hair off my legs. If you’re going to do a bodybuilding competition, all the hair must come off, but I’m not doing this to be Mr. Olympia or nothing like that. Shaving leg hair can be kind of risky, so I’m not going to do it. The only body hair I would shave off is my armpits, that’s okay to do. Why is it better to shave your arm pits? So your arm flexes and lats can look better. It’ll give more definition for your lats.

I just want a natural bodybuilder look. I do this to feel great, get healthier, and look great. I’m not doing this to be a show off or be a pretty boy or anything like that.

So the leg hair will stay. I brought this up, because this is one of the most common questions asked about bodybuilding. Some people may wonder if you’ll do it or not, so I just wanted to clear things up.

Body hair shaving, actually considering about doing it…

Some people may wonder if I ever consider body hair shaving, for more muscle definition. I think about that all the time. I used to disagree with body hair shaving, but I’m starting to agree with it now. All these progress pics I put out, maybe people will give feedback on them more if I shave body hair. I don’t have hair on my chest and belly, but my legs and arm pits are pretty hairy though. Before you do body hair shaving, you must read about it first before you do, so you can do it safely and do it without getting razor burns or itches.

There is nothing gay about leg shaving for men, it’s pretty normal with bodybuilders and athletes. It’s okay. I’ll need to get an electric clipper, I’ve read. They are safer to use than regular razor blades. When I shave my legs, maybe people will be able to look at my progress pics easier without being creeped out, lol. I’ll do it sometime when I’m ready.

I feel my legs are getting bigger though. I feel I got pretty decent size quads, the calves are okay too. I love doing lower body workouts. It’s my favorite part of fitness, actually. After you do your leg workout,  your legs will feel weird walking around for the next couple of days, but that’s good. You want your legs to feel like that, ’cause that means the muscles are repairing.

If I want to get more responses to my progress pics, shaving body hair might help do the trick.
