Music I’ve became addicted to lately…

I’ve been introduced to some new music artists & bands in the music industry, that I’ve became addicted to listening to. They are a few rock artists I’ve recently discovered.

The Black Keys – This is a band that only has two members, Dan Auerbach on guitar/vocals and Patrick Carney on the drums. I purchased two albums by them in Itunes, “Attack & Release” and “Brothers”. This is a very good band and they’ve become my new obsession. Great songwriters, tight, and really good guitar work, vocal harmony too. I love these guys. I would collect all their albums.

Arcade Fire – I also have all three of their albums in Itunes. “Funeral”, “Neon Bible” and “The Suburbs”. It is great rock n’ roll. All 3 albums are fantastic and looking forward to more music by them up ahead.

Ray Lamontagne – I’ve been seeing him perform on late night TV talk shows such as Fallon, Letterman, Leno, etc. I finally got his latest album, “God Willing and the Creek Don’t Rise”, and it just blew my mind. It’s a beautifully written album. This guy is a true talent in the music industry today.

This is some of the stuff I’ve been listening to on my Ipod lately, listening to this stuff while I work out at the Y. A lot of people like to listen to a single song on Ipods, like a radio or something. I’ve never listened to music like that. I’ve always listened to full albums. I don’t see how people can listen to just hit songs on an Ipod. Not me.

If you want to appreciate your love for music, you listen to the whole damn album.

BREAKING NEWS: Soundgarden announced they are working on new music for a new studio album!!!

I’ve been saying a long time hoping they would do this. They ARE! Soundgarden announced on their website, that the band is writing new music for a new Soundgarden record. As you all know, Soundgarden haven’t released a new record since 1996’s “Down on the Upside”. Yes, it was that long ago.

See the band’s announcement, here.

To be honest, I’m a little worried of how their new material is going to sound. Hopefully they won’t sound too pop like they did with the “Superunknown” and “Down on the Upside’ stuff. I hope they go back to old school metal of what they sounded like during their “Batmotorfinger” and “Louder Than Love” days.

Hope the band don’t disappoint us with their new record. Hope it’s going to be good, heavy, and rocking.

Thought: After Jagger’s performance at the Grammy’s, will there finally be a Stones reunion???

I know what everyone is thinking. After Jagger’s surprising appearance at the Grammy’s, it was also his very first Grammy appearance ever, believe it or not, I’m sure people wonder if there is an upcoming Rolling Stones reunion in the works. The Stones haven’t done anything in music since 2007’s “A Bigger Bang” tour.

Over the years during their hiatus, they’ve been releasing re-issues like “Exile On Main St.” and other projects.

Let the Stones reunion speculation begin. I’m sure it’s already begun.

After all these years, Jagger and the Stones been gone, Jagger still has it. He can still get the audience going wild.

Report: Radiohead announces new album, “The King of Limbs” to be released this Saturday on the web…

Radiohead decided to celebrate Valentine’s Day today with their fans, by announcing a new album titled, “The King Of Limbs” which will be available at, this website, Saturday. This really shows that Thom Yorke and the gang really love their fans, and they wanted to give them a Valentine’s gift by doing this.

I’m a Radiohead fan, as I have listened to all of their albums including, “In Rainbows”, so I’m looking forward to their new one.

I’ll wait for the new album to get on Itunes though, it’ll be on there soon.

Defending Arcade Fire’s win at the Grammy’s…

So I watched the Grammy’s last night. The show was pretty interesting. I must say that this was the best Grammy’s show in a long time. Many would disagree but think about it: Bob Dylan performing, Mick Jagger performing for the first time in years after a hiatus, Kris Kristofferson & Barbara Streisand standing on stage together, the Cee Lo Green and Gwyneth Paltrow performance, Katy Perry, etc. All that stuff was very entertaining.

The thing that shocked people the most about last night’s Grammy’s show, this even shocked me too, was Arcade Fire winning for Album of the Year, for their newest album, “The Suburbs”. Many were shocked of this win because people were hoping Eminem or Lady Gaga were going to get it. I’m glad the Grammy’s gave Arcade Fire the win.

Why? Because they are a talented rock n’ roll band, that deserves more recognition. Many people don’t know who Arcade Fire is, because a lot of people claim they are new. Well, Arcade Fire isn’t really new. They’ve been around a long time. They are an indie band, not a major label band, they just happened to land on the Grammy’s. I haven’t heard their album, “The Suburbs” yet, but I plan on listening to it soon. I’ve heard their stuff on the radio and seen them perform on TV many times. So I know Arcade Fire is a great band. They are great. So this win for them is well deserved.

I’m sick of mainstream acts winning the Album of the Year award all the time. Giving someone new and something different a chance is a good thing that the Grammny’s did. Plus, Arcade Fire is a real band with real talent, yes I said that. They are a young band with at least 7 members. They only released 3 albums in their career.

I was expecting Gaga to get the win last night myself, but my jaw dropped when they said Arcade Fire’s name.

On with the other performances, my favorite performances were Bob Dylan.  The Cee Lo Green and Gwyneth Paltrow performance was very strange but it was pretty inspiring. Katy Perry’s performance was electric, I loved it. Yes, I’m a huge Katy Perry fan and would see her in concert if she came around my area, some day. Seeing her live looks a lot of fun.

It was a pretty good Grammy’s show last night, Arcade Fire is a great band so before you think, “Who are they?”, “They suck they don’t deserve the win”, do a little research on them and listen to them first, then you would see how they got to the Grammy’s. Arcade Fire is a unique band. They don’t sound like any other band.

Thought: What took so long for everyone to figure out Lady Gaga was ripping off Madonna?

So Lady Gaga released her new single, “Born This Way” yesterday. Everyone immediately  saw that Lady Gaga ripped that song off Madonna. Hate to burst your bubble, Gaga fans, but Gaga have been ripping Madonna off from the very beginning. Not just, “Born This Way”, pretty much every Gaga song sounds like Madonna. Gaga even borrowed from Madge’s image too. I was liking Gaga up until, “Born This Way”, it’s not a good song at all, it just didn’t grab me this time.

I don’t see these two being friends for long. Be ready for a plagiarism lawsuit, Gaga.

RIP: Gary Moore 1952 – 2011

We have some very sad news to report today. The music industry lost another great one. Legendary guitarist, Gary Moore, who is most famous for playing guitar for the Irish blues band, Skid Row, and playing guitar for the Irish rock band, Thin Lizzy, passed away today. Gary only played for three albums with Skid Row. While he did play for Thin Lizzy, he only appeared on some songs on some of their albums, Gary didn’t play guitar on every Thin Lizzy song. Gary mostly concentrated on his solo career for most of life. While he did play every genre of music including heavy metal and jazz, his biggest influence was the blues. Gary Moore, in my opinion, is one of the true greats in guitar playing. Every time he performed on stage, the man was always on fire. We truly lost a great one. Gary Moore was just 58 years old.

BREAKING NEWS: The White Stripes officially split!!!!!

Out of no where, the White Stripes announced the shocking news today, that Jack and Meg White will both end, the White Stripes band, effective immediately!

Read their statement, here.

Wow! I’m even shocked and kind of sad for this news! This was one talented duo! I loved them. I never bought their albums, but I saw them on TV many times and heard their singles on the radio a lot. They only released 6 albums, so they had a pretty short career.

I’m gonna have to get their 6 albums now, I’ll download them from Itunes soon.

I’m sure Jack will continue with his two other side projects, the Raconteurs and the Dead Weather, but Jack will probably form a new project on his own. Maybe do a solo career?

BREAKING NEWS: Rod Stewart to sing for Jeff Beck again!

Rod Stewart revealed, that he is getting very close to a musical reunion with the Jeff Beck Group. He explains that the new Jeff Beck Group will hit the studio in Feb. to record new material and after that, they will send the demos to Rod. If all goes well, Rod will be the lead singer for the Jeff Beck Group again.

More on it, here.

Remember, Rod Stewart was one of the founding members of the Jeff Beck group, pictured above. Yep, he was the first lead singer when the band first started in the late 60’s. This was Rod at his best before his “Maggie May” crap. I’m sure this project will happen. Can’t wait!
