Kanye’s career wouldn’t have gotten this big if it wasn’t for his relationship with Kim K…

*sigh* Kanye headlining another big festival. Yes, it’s true what I said in the title. If it wasn’t for Kanye’s relationship with Kim K. then Kanye wouldn’t have been this big with his latest album, “Yeezus”. “Yeezus” wouldn’t have been a hit album if it wasn’t for Kim K. He’s definitely using her to help boost his career and I’m sure Kim is using Kanye to boost her career as well. It’s all ego with those two. Before Kanye got together with Kim K. his music wasn’t that mainstream. The only reason all of these big festivals is booking him to headline is ’cause they know his relationship with Kim K. will attract a big crowd.

Kanye is headlining Outside Lands festival along with Tom Petty and The Killers being the headliners:

Ronnie James Dio “This Is Your Life” tribute album… brief review…

Like most metal and rock fans, I too am a fan of Ronnie James Dio. I’ve been listening to his music for years through his solo career, Black Sabbath, etc. This is a tribute album that is up for a good cause. This album is to raise funds for RJD’s cancer fund, which all proceeds from this album will go to that.

This is an album that has 14 tracks. Songs covered by many metal legends and icons such as Anthrax, Tenacious D, The Scorpions, Corey Taylor, Metallica, Rob Halford, etc.

I listened to this album 2 or 3 times already and can’t get enough of it. It’s a pretty addicting album to listen to. If you want tight, upbeat, and heavy metal songs… you’ll get all that on this album just the way Ronnie would have wanted it. You can betcha there WILL be all kinds of sweet rhythm metal guitar playing, riffs, and guitar solos all over it. Plus, what’s most fun about the album is the singing. Every singer who sung on the album did an amazing job. Even Jack Black’s track with the Tenacious D, “The Last In Line”, which is a pretty amazing song. Ronnie James Dio himself sings a song on the final track, “This Is Your Life”.

If you want a badass rock album, definitely get this one. It’s definitely a must listen for any metal and Dio fan. They did a great job putting this album together and getting the old school metal sound. I think I’m gonna be listening to this album a lot. I love every song on it. I’m not into tribute albums that much but this is a real good one.

Seattle Police facing lawsuit after Kurt Cobain death photos have been publicly released…

With today being the 20th Anniversary of the death of Kurt Cobain, The Seattle police are being sued by an investigative journalist named Richard Lee, who strongly believes that Kurt was murdered. He was unfairly labeled as a “conspiracy theorist”.

http://loudwire.com/seattle-police-lawsuit-kurt-cobain-photos/

My thoughts on this is that I think it is wrong and unfair for Richard Lee to get labeled as a “conspiracy theorist”. I also think it’s wrong for people to accuse him of trying to make money off of Kurt’s death which is total bullshit. He’s not the only one who think Kurt was murdered. Most Nirvana fans and most of Kurt’s supporters think he was murdered as well. When it was announced that the 4 rolls of film was found and the Seattle police was going to release them publicly, fans immediately responded thinking Kurt was murdered. Richard Lee is like the rest of us. He just wants answers out of Kurt’s “suicide”. This is just his way of fighting back and trying to get them to re-open the case.

It’s really the Seattle police trying to make money off of Kurt’s death, not Richard Lee. That’s why they found the photos and released the photos hoping to make more money off of them. They also did it hoping to shut people up about their thoughts that he was “murdered”. Well, it’s not working. There are still a lot of people who believe Kurt was murdered so are you gonna call them “conspiracy theorists” too? They aren’t conspiracy theorists, that is what they believe in.

Whether you agree it was murder or not, Kurt’s death STILL should be investigated. It sounds pretty suspicious and fishy. Richard Lee was just trying to let the police know that Kurt shouldn’t be ignored. The Seattle Police deserved the lawsuit. They released the photos publicly and they claimed nothing came out of them? How come the police aren’t the bad guys in this?

Flea to write memoir…

As a longtime fan of the Chili Peppers, I’m looking forward to this one. Flea is writing a memoir. I’m sure the book will be about his life and music career with the Chili Peppers but in this article the book will mainly focus on his friendship with Anthony Kiedis. I’m sure Flea can tell an interesting story ’cause he is an interesting guy. I’ve read plenty of interviews with Flea through various music magazines over the years so I know he can tell a good story. I’m sure he’ll talk about how he first picked up the bass and what made him want to play and stuff so that’ll be interesting.

See more here:

I like to read rock music memoirs. Why? Because reading about a musicians life is interesting to me. I’ve read plenty of rock memoirs from Neil Young, Clapton, Dave Mustaine, Sammy Hagar, Dee Snider, Pete Townshend, etc.

Joe Satriani is coming out with his own memoir later this month and can’t wait to read that one as well.

Kurt Cobain the musical? That’s a horrible idea and Kurt himself wouldn’t want it…

I’m fine with Courtney’s idea of a Kurt movie biopic and documentary but I’m not okay with the musical idea. That’s not what Kurt himself would have wanted and he would be disgusted by the idea. Hopefully, Dave Grohl will speak up and stop the musical from happening. On top of that, I don’t think she owns the right to Nirvana’s song cataloug, correct me if I’m wrong? I think Dave Grohl and the surviving Nirvana members own all the rights to Nirvana’s music. Not quite sure, though, I’m looking into it. I do know that Courtney lost the rights to Kurt’s image in 2012 so she could get sued for this anyways and I hope she does.

The Allman Brothers…

Because of that book pictured above, “One Way Out” by Alan Paul, I have gotten turned on to the Allman Brothers music. I mean… REALLY TURNED ON. Because of that book, I fucking love the Allman Brothers now. Before I read that book, I was never much of an Allman Brothers fan. I mean… don’t get me wrong… I’ve heard a lot of their hits on the radio over the years but I’ve never bought their records.

This book above is recommended reading for any music lover or if you’re a fan of the Allman Brothers yourself. It gives a detailed look on the history of the Allmans. It gives you everything. From their formation to where they are now. Duane Allman was an important member to them ’cause he was the one who started the band but sadly his career with them didn’t last too long due to his death when they just released the “Fillmore East” live album… that was at the start of their fame too.

The book doesn’t just try to make the band look good like any typical band biography. This book even talks about the negative stuff and all the setbacks the Allman Brothers went through over the years. They went through heated feuds with the members most notably the heated feud between Greg Allman and Dicky Betts. Dicky is no longer with the Allman Bros. ’cause they hate each other.

It was an interesting history of a legendary band. Thanks to this book, I purchased 7 albums from the Allman Brothers: “Self titled debut”, “Eat A Peach”, “At The Fillmore East”, “Brothers and Sisters”, “IdleWind South” and “Where It All Begins”. I’ve become obsessed with their music as you can see. I’m gonna collect their entire discography, I think. I’m beginning to think that the Allman Brothers are my second favorite band right behind Led Zeppelin now. I can’t stop listening to the Allman Brothers. One thing though, this band have been unfairly been labeled as Southern Rock and I don’t they’re Southern Rock at all. The Allman Brothers to me is a blues/jazz band with a crossover of rock n’ roll. They throw in some country music sometimes too. They’re mostly a blues/jazz band, though.

I have total respect for Gregg Allman and Duane is now one of my favorite guitarists of all time. The other guitarists who played in the band are great too like Dicky Betts, Derek Trucks and others. Dicky Betts wrote most of the material of the Allmans over the years. Warren Haynes and Derek Trucks are pretty much the new leaders of the Allmans now. I don’t think Dicky will ever reunite with the band but ya never know. Never say never. Dicky was an important member of the band too ’cause he wrote most of the band’s important songs.

I fuckin’ love the Allmans. I’m dying to get my chance to see them live now so if they ever play a concert here again someday, I’ll make sure I’ll go. That book is recommended reading. After reading that book, makes me want to read Greg Allman’s memoir, “My Cross To Bear” which I will read soon. They have a pretty interesting history.

I know the Allman’s recently played a series of shows at the Beacon in NYC but Greg couldn’t play one of them ’cause he was suffering bronchitis. The Allman Brothers rock and can’t get enough of their music. I want more.

Happy Birthday, Eric Clapton!!!

Today is Eric Clapton’s 69th birthday. He is one of the reasons I play the guitar. I’ve been a longtime fan and admirer of his. When people ask me who are my favorite guitarists of all time are, here is my top 5: 1) Jimmy Page 2) Jimi Hendrix 3) Joe Satriani 4) Eric Clapton 5) Neil Young.

Yep, he’s definitely one of my top fives.

Someday, I’m gonna play lead guitar just as good as those guys I listed above. I’m really working on it too. I’ve been trying to figure out how to get there for 19 years now and still feel I’m not there yet. I’ve been practicing and learning. Trying to learn music theory, ear training, and techniques. My goal as a guitarist is to become a master improviser and I’m getting the hang of it, I think. Still have a lot of work to do but getting there.

While Eric Clapton is great, I wish he would go back to great blues guitar playing again like in the old days. His music lately has been taking different directions. I’ll always respect the hell out of Eric, though. He’s got a lot of haters & doubters too but I don’t care what they think. Eric is a musical genius.

Why big music festivals like Lollapalooza, Coachella, and Bonnaroo are garbage these days…

I really hate the lineups for all three of these festivals this year. Lollapalooza, Coachella, and Bonnaroo. The reason I don’t like the way the booking of these festivals is going is ’cause of rap/hip hop taken over the headlining act. We have rap acts being the headlining acts of all 3 of these festivals. Outkast is headlining both Lollapalooza and Coachella while we have Kanye headlining Bonnaroo. We now have Eminem confirmed as the headliner for Lollapalooza.

I enjoy some rap/hip hop but I’m not that big of a fan. I hate most of it. Rap/hip hop is obviously getting big and taking over the music industry. These big festivals don’t care what the people like anymore. They book the headliners whatever sells the most-tickets. Rap/hip hop sells a lot. That’s why this genre is taking over the big festivals these days ’cause rap draw the largest crowds.

These festivals used to be cool when rock and metal acts used to be the headliners but this is just more evidence that rock and metal is clearly dying. Rock and metal will never get big again and that’s the genre that I prefer to listen to mostly. There are plenty of great rock and metal acts that are deserving to headline these festivals. What about Soundgarden, Metallica, Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Megadeth, Ac/Dc, Neil Young, David Bowie, etc.??? So many possibilities.

I’m tired of all the rap obsession. Come on kids, there are better music out there. Why don’t kids today listen to real talent??? We need to educate people on music so they don’t listen to such garbage. We have pop and rap taking over the mainstream ’cause the media turns these kids onto that stuff.

We need kids listening to real stuff like Led Zep, The Beatles, Hendrix, SRV, the Grateful Dead, Chuck Berry or the Allman Brothers. Nope, everyone wants to listen to garbage like Kanye, Rihanna or Beyonce.

Rock and metal tries to get big in the mainstream but I don’t think it will ever get big again. Shame.

Kurt Cobain death reopened? No… not at this time…

Local Seattle reports have reported that the investigation of the death of Kurt Cobain have been re-opened due to finding 4 film rolls. Even though this news was reported locally in the Seattle area, it was only a matter of time this news is going to become a trending topic nationally.

However, this article says that there were no new findings and the case isn’t really being re-opened:

http://blogs.seattletimes.com/today/2014/03/police-look-at-cobain-files-no-new-findings/

Like a lot of people, I believe that Courtney Love murdered Kurt Cobain. She murdered him, covered it all up and got away with it. Kurt wasn’t suicidal before his death, it even says that right there in the article, “Cobain told police he had locked himself in the room to stay away from Love, police said. He said he was not suicidal, and he didn’t want to hurt himself.”

Kurt locked himself in the room to get away from that annoying bitch Courtney ’cause she was probably bothering the hell out of him and he just wanted to be alone. It’s either Courtney herself shot him or she hired someone to do it… a hitman.

I do think this case should be re-opened, though. Kurt’s death certainly deserves answers.

Even though the case isn’t really back open at this time, hopefully those four film rolls will help get it back open sometime in the future, though. The 4 film rolls still sounds a little suspicious.

Rolling Stones go through another tragedy… RIP L’ Wren Scott…

In the title of this topic, I said, “another tragedy” ’cause this is another one that the Rolling Stones have went through. The Rolling Stones was forced to postpone their overseas tour due to the sudden suicide of Mick Jagger’s longtime girlfriend, L’Wren Scott who is also a fashion designer.

Just a friendly reminder to you all that the Rolling Stones went through a similar tragic incident in the past with Brian Jones, their former leader/founder. So is this de ja vu for them?

It’s sad. The Rolling Stones just landed in Perth, Australia earlier this week and the death of L’Wren just happened.

I was never much of a fan of the Rolling Stones but my heart goes out to Mick Jagger and the band. Sad and heartbreaking they have to go through something like this again.

The deaths of Brian Jones and L’Wren are oddly similar… both died mysteriously.
