BREAKING NEWS: Russell Crowe in talks to play Jor-El for Zack Snyder’s “Superman: Man of Steel” film…

FINALLY!!!!!!

After several weeks of Superman news slowing down, it’s starting to pick back up again! Oscar award winner, Russell Crowe is in talks to play Jor-El, Superman’s biological father on his home planet of Krypton.

Variety, reports.

The casting for the new “Superman” movie is amazing so far. While I’m sure Russell will do a fantastic job playing Jor-El he won’t be able to top Marlon Brando’s epic performance in “Superman: The Movie” and “Superman II”.

I’m glad the casting for “Superman” is on a roll again.

Hopefully they cast someone for Perry White or Jimmy Olsen next. I would like Al Pacino for Perry White and Jesse Eisenberg for Jimmy Olsen.

Cool Photo: Is this Superman’s new “S” shield logo from Zack Snyder’s and Christopher Nolan’s new Supes flick????

“The Licensing International Expo.” is happening in Las Vegas this week and there it teases films from “The Avengers”, “The Dark Knight Rises” and Zack Snyder’s “Superman”. Above you see Superman’s official new “S” shield logo for Zack Snyder’s “Superman”.

Which is way fucking cool. I love it!

I was a little worried that Snyder and Nolan were going to make the “S” logo differently, but it looks like they are keeping the Superman costume the same red, yellow and blue, and the “S” logo will be the same as Christopher Reeve’s.

Hopefully soon, Snyder, Nolan, and Warner Bros. will reveal what Henry Cavill looks like in the Superman suit.

The question is, will they do that at this year’s San Diego Comic Con? That’s what I’ve been wondering myself if Superman and Batman both will be at this year’s Comic Con. According to reports, Superman and Batman will NOT be at this year’s comic con.

More on the story here.

Remember, Superman and Batman franchises have been avoiding the Comic Con’s for years, but never say never. Maybe Warner Bros. will be there to reveal some stuff about Superman and Batman out of no where to surprise the fans. The Comic Con events are always full of surprises, you never know what will happen at those things.

Back to Zack Snyder’s “Superman”, I’m sure he will stay true to the franchise and you can already see it with the logo above. Zack knows what he’s doing, he’s a huge Superman fan like most of us, so I don’t think he’ll fail this movie at all.

Superman news slowed down, I wonder why???

There haven’t been any new “Superman” castings for the past several weeks. The last thing we heard was that German actress, Antje Traue has been signed to play some un-named female villain for Zack Snyder’s “Superman” and that news was announced a couple of months ago.

Superman still need to cast the following characters: Lex Luthor, Jor-El, Lara (Superman’s mother on planet Krypton), Lana Lang, Jimmy Olsen, and Perry White.

We also still need to see what the story is going to be about and what the Superman costume is going to look like. In the beginning, they were picking up on things quickly, but now Superman news suddenly died.

I’m sure Superman news will start picking back up again soon. Hopefully not too long. What will the Superman costume look like? It will obviously be red, yellow and blue like always but the suit will definitely have a new design and different style. Hopefully the costume will be different than the Christopher Reeve and Brandon Routh costumes.

The movie still needs to open with the John Williams theme. It’s not a Superman movie without it. I think Chris and Zack will use the theme song, I’m sure they know it’s important for the character.

Cool Photo: Thoughts on Tom Hardy as Bane for “Dark Knight: Rises”…

First “Dark Knight: Rises” photo of Tom Hardy as Bane hits the internets yesterday. I must say that Tom Hardy looks badass. It’s awesome and creepy as hell too, the way Bane should be, scary. That’s just half of Bane’s image for the movie. I’m sure Warner Bros. will release the full picture of Tom Hardy as Bane soon.

Now we can expect a photo of Anne Hathaway as Catwoman very soon, hopefully, they’ll release it next week! I’m dying to see the new Catwoman suit!

Report: Warner Bros. finds German actress to play “Superman” female villain, is she Ursa or Faora?

If everyone knows Zack Snyder’s film directing style well, you would know that he has a good eye on women. Pretty much all the women he has who stars in his live action movies, they’re all hot & gorgeous looking. For example, Lena Headey for the “300” movie, Carla Cugino for “Watchmen”, Sarah Polley for the “Dawn of the Dead” remake, and Emily Browning for “Sucker Punch”.

Snyder continues to search for those gorgeous women for his films. German actress, Antje Traue is the front runner to play a female villain for “Man of Steel” by Warner Bros. She is speculated to play either Ursa or Faora. My money is on Faora. Expect Warner Bros. to make the official announcement this Sunday like they always do. Antje mostly starred in German films in her country, but she did star in one American film. She’s most well known for her role in the 2009 sci fi film, “Pandorum”.

Deadline, reports.

Report: Marion Cotillard and Joseph Gordon-Levitt signed to “Dark Knight: Rises”, also their roles revealed…

“Inception” stars, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Marion Cotillard have been officially signed to the “Dark Knight: Rises” by Christopher Nolan and Warner Bros. Cotillard will be playing Miranda Tate is who is a Wayne Enterprises board member and Gordon-Levitt plays a cop who is under the command of Commisioner Gordon.

Deadline, reports.

So this is why there is no new “Superman” news this week, because Warner Bros. and Chris Nolan were busy casting these two for the next Batman flick.

These two could possibly be playing good characters, not villain. Still though, Miranda Tate could possibly be a villain. She could actually be Talia Al Ghul, the daughter of Ra Al Ghul (who Batman killed in “Batman: Begins”). Talia back to kill Batman for the revenge of her father. I bet Talia hires Bane (Tom Hardy) to do the job. While Anne Hathaway is confirmed to be Catwoman, I don’t think Catwoman will be a villain in this one. It’s possible Catwoman could help Batman out.

The plot for the “Dark Knight: Rises” haven’t been revealed yet, but what I explained above is just my guess. We’ll see how this plot plays out.

Report: Faora will be the leading villain for “Superman”? Plus, planet Krypton revealed and other Superman news…

The Latino Review leaked a little bit of “Superman” plot points a little early. These are just “rumors” so don’t believe it as of this moment. Faora will be the main villain for Superman. Planet Krypton will NOT be a crystal planet like you see in the beginning of “Superman: The Movie”. Warner Bros., Christopher Nolan and Zack Snyder are all interested in Daniel Day-Lewis for the role of Jor-El (Superman’s biological father). You will see both Jor-El and Lara (Superman’s kryptonian Mom) in the beginning of the film. The story of “The Man of Steel” will be an origin story much like, “Batman: Begins”. The story will cover everything about the life of Superman from his birth on Krypton all the way to how he became Superman in Metropolis.

So General Zod may not be the film’s leading villain then, Faora will be the leading villain? Zod will only get a small role? For those who don’t know much about the Faora character, read more about her, here.

If you read Faora’s wikipedia, you can see that she was a very important part of Superman’s history, that Donner’s “Superman: The Movie”, never used. So it does make a lot of sense to use her and I’m glad they’re using a different villain this time. She was never used in any of the films.Well Faora was used for the TV show, “Smallville”, but not the movies.

While it must be frustrating and annoying to fans that they are using another “origin” story for Superman. They have to. Like I said Warner Bros./DC are at war with the Seigel heirs. They need to do the origin story fast because they’ll lose it all in 2013. Please try to understand that. Plus, how else are you going to start a Superman story when they are going to reboot it? Might as well start all over again.

Yes, I’m sure Zack Snyder and Christopher Nolan’s version of “Superman” will probably start on planet Krypton, then they will go to Smallville where Clark Kent grew up to become Superman, and all the Metropolis stuff at the end of the film. I just think Christohper Nolan’s version of the Superman origin story will be much better. I trust both him and Zack.

Warner Bros. will probably make another casting announcement this Sunday because they seem to be announcing a new cast member every Sunday. Who will it be this Sunday? Will they announce who will be playing, Faora? I bet Faora is next, if possible. Maybe Lex Luthor will be next to be casted. Then they need to cast someone for Lana Lang (if they use her), Perry White, Jimmy Olsen and Superman’s real mother, Lara.

I support them in this project, 100%. I believe it will be a great movie. Hopefully they keep the John Williams score, though. That’s important, I hope they don’t ignore that legendary opening theme song.

Thought: Another reason General Zod was picked as the main villain for Superman…

Everyone is wondering why WB’s and Zack Snyder picked General Zod to be the villain again for the new Superman movie. Keep in mind that Warner Bros. and DC Comics are in a middle of a legal war with the Siegel heirs. WB’s, Zack Snyder and Christopher Nolan are rushing this movie. Why? Because they need to get this movie started by 2011. Well it’s 2011, and this is why the movie is starting so quickly. WB’s and DC will lose all rights to Superman in 2013.

I’m pretty sure WB’s and Zack Snyder could use other Superman villains like Darksied, Brainiac, Metallo, or Doomsday easily, but creating those characters would take so long and would be very expensive to create. With use of CGI, costumes, and make up for those characters. I bet this is why they picked a human villain like Zod because it’s quicker to nail down.

I bet this is the main reason why Zod was picked. It’s their way of getting things done quickly because of this lawsuit against the Siegel heirs. Warner Bros./DC sued the Siegel’s in return to fight back for the full Superman rights, so if Warner Bros. win the full Superman rights, maybe they’ll use the other villains for the sequel if they do one?

Warner Bros. and the Siegel’s owns half of the Superman material, so we might not even see Superman in costume and Clark Kent in the new film. Not sure how they’re gonna do this film when the Siegel’s own most of the important material.

Read this earlier article on the Superman legal battle, here.

I pray Warner Bros. will win the full rights. I’m sure they will. The Siegel family are egotistical douchebags trying to make a huge pay day out of WB’s, that’s all they want. It’s about the money. The Siegel’s are greedy people and this is a harsh battle.

I bet this is another reason Zack was hired for “Superman” because Zack dealt with a similar copyright lawsuit with “Watchmen”, remember that legal battle? Zack was hired for “Superman” because he was brave enough to not care about this legal bullshit and get to work anyway.

Cool Video: Michael Shannon himself, talks about how he got the role as General Zod as Superman…

Michael Shannon, the actor himself is interviewed in front of an audience at this year’s RiverRun film convention. Michael admits he is very surprised to get the role as it did come to him quickly and out of no where, he never expected it. He also admitted that he thought the film makers were crazy when they wanted him for Zod. Michael talks about how he got the role and how he auditioned for it. Of course, he isn’t allowed to talk about the plot for the new “Superman” movie.

Michael seem like a very cool and down to earth guy. He looks very excited and psyched for the role too.

Enjoy the video, here.

Thought: Defending Michael Shannon as General Zod for “Superman”…

In other blogs and movie forums, I’m seeing a lot of mixed opinions on this casting and the choice of villain. Many people are disappointed that they are using General Zod again. Implying that General Zod has been used so much for other Superman movies. People are complaining that this could be a remake of “Superman II”. They are also saying that there are many other Superman villains that can be used for the next film, people are listing: Brainiac, Darksied, Toyman, Metallo, Doomsday, etc.

First of all, General Zod wasn’t used that much. He was only in a small scene for “Superman: The Movie” and had a leading role for “Superman II” as the film’s leading villain. That was all. I don’t know what people are complaining about.

Secondly, I think General Zod was picked because it was right for the story and it made a lot of sense to use him. I don’t think it will be a remake to “Superman II” because Zack Snyder said many times in his interviews that he hinted, Superman will be a different film than all the others. He said before, that this film will make you feel like there are no other Superman films. It’ll be realistic and something different.

General Zod is a psychotic character, that makes you want to hate the character. I think Michael Shannon will achieve that goal easily. Michael Shannon have played psycho villains in so many movies. Michael Shannon plays the best asshole in films. This is why he was landed the role for General Zod because it is what the character needed. A psycho madman that even you would be scared of him.

As for why they are using General Zod again, like Zack Snyder said, he was the only villain to get more insight out of Superman like no other villain could, and I agree. In “Superman II”, General Zod never knew who Kal-El was (Superman’s real name), but Zod knew his father, Jor-El from Krypton. Zod was the only villain to know who Supe’s real family was from the planet Krypton. Maybe that’s what the storyline will be for the next movie? It will reveal more about Superman’s past and the only villain who can do that is, General Zod.

I would also think, that another reason Zod was picked because he is Superman’s top villain. If they used any other villains, then this movie would probably bomb. If other villains were used, they would probably turn them into CGI characters. You don’t want that, do ya? I think it’s better using a human villain. General Zod was picked to help draw people to the film when it comes out.

I wish people wouldn’t bash this so early. Why? For a few reasons. We have no idea what the plot is going to be about and we haven’t even seen a trailer yet. The reason everyone is accusing this movie of being a remake of “Superman II” and the first movie is because that’s what it’s looking like so far. To me, that’s what the film makers want people to think. They want people think it will be a remake of the earlier movies at first, but when the plot and trailer comes out, it might be different. Zack Snyder and WB’s way of teasing us.

I think it’s a smart move to use General Zod again. Superman needs to be an action movie. The action for “Superman II” was very good, but that was back in the old days when CGI wasn’t around, they were using green screens back then. If this movie is using: Zod, Ursa and Non again, I think this will be a better action movie than “Superman II”.

General Zod is an important Superman villain. I think he was picked for a good reason, it wasn’t a random pick. I’m sure they could use other villains easily, but whatever is right for the story they need to do. I trust them with this movie, 100%. I believe they will make a great, “Superman” movie that everyone will be happy with.
