Walt Disney has announced they will not make the third Chronicles of Narnia film “The Voyage of Dawn Treader”. Disney would not get into details as to why they aren’t filming the next film, but they briefly said it had something to do with budgeting and logistical reasons. They were going to start filming in the Spring and hopefully get a May 2010 release but those plans have been cancelled.
Disney made the first two Narnia films “The Lion, the Witch and The Wardrobe” and “Prince Caspian”. Walden Media, who owns the rights to the Narnia series, hope to find a new film company to make the films with. It is most likely Twentieth Century Fox will take over.

Kind of shame Disney is parting ways. I loved “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe” and “Prince Caspian” very much both are amazing movies.
It is still kind of exciting that Disney is no longer making the movies though, think about it. That means more violence, and more blood, they can make the next Narnia movie more adult oriented, than family friendly. Kind of like a Lord of the Rings thing.
If another film company picks up the series to take over, hopefully they stay true to the first two films by having the same cast and same style of filming.
