Poll: Will Joaquin Phoenix present an award at the Oscars for laughs?

You also gotta wonder if Joaquin Phoenix will present an award for this Sunday’s Oscars. He’ll come out fully bearded, wearing sunglasses, and giving a bizarre speech to present an award. I think it’s a  possibility that he could be there too. It’ll be a way to promote his final film, “Two Lovers” and to help get TV ratings for the Oscars. Plus, it’ll be more footage that he’s filming with Casey Affleck for his documentary.

My choice? I think he’ll be there too knowing that he does have a lot of history at the Oscars.

Thought: About that Joaquin Phoenix and Letterman video, yep, it was scripted and they are acting…

After seeing the Joaquin Phoenix on David Letterman video below, if you watch the ending carefully, you can see Joaquin shaking Dave’s hand for the second time and then he says, “Good job”. I think that shows that Joaquin ruined his prank by getting out of character and acting his real self as the show was about to get off the air. It would have been smart enough for Joaquin to wait to tell Dave, “Good job”, after the show got off the air completely, right? Sorry Joaquin, but you’re not fooling anybody.

This guy is not quitting acting at all, it’s obviously a publicity stunt to plug in “Two Lovers” and his upcoming rap album. He’s just doing his best trying to make it look real.

Report: Joaquin Phoenix confirms career switch is a prank after all???

Reports are swirling the web that Joaquin Phoenix is hinting us that his career switch from film actor to rapper is all a joke after all.

Like this article here for example:

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/28897958/

I think everybody knew that Joaquin is just fooling around. I can understand why he wants to have some fun since he did so many drama movies over the years, he wants to do something different, so he’s pulling an Andy Kauffman/Borat kind of thing.

He ain’t done with acting, I think he’ll do movies for the rest of his life until the day he dies. There’s no way he’ll give it up.

Report: The Phoenix blames film crew for bad performance at the Lavo…

Joaquin Phoenix, blames his film crew who was filming the documentary for his bad performance at the Lavo. His film crew showed up late, it pissed him off and he lost his temper. He only performed three songs from the album he’s producing with Sean Combs.

More on it here:

Yep, Joaquin Phoenix is definitely doing drugs again. At least he knows that his performance was really bad though.

Thought: The Phoenix career switch may have been inspired by his sister, Rain Phoenix…

Pictured above, Joaquin himself without the beard and his sister Rain. Rain Phoenix is a musician and singer herself, she has a band that she still plays with called the Papercranes. Rain is the front woman, guitar player and singer for her band. Check them out here, they actually sound really good.

River Phoenix, the actor and brother of the family, was also a musician when he was alive. River himself played guitar and sang.

So, it’s a proven fact that Joaquin grew up in a musical family. Before Joaquin filmed, “Walk the Line”, he was never a musician, he had to learn how to be one for the film. After that film and knowing how his family members are musicians as well, Joaquin wanted to be like his family.

Why did Joaquin choose rap/hip hop? He claims in that People article below, he has chosen to do that genre because it’s good storytelling. I would like to see Joaquin get into rock/country ’cause he sounded so good when he sang those Johnny Cash songs on the “Walk the Line” soundtrack.

Anyway, as far as Phoenix’s Lavo performance goes, that may have started out pretty bad, but hey, all rappers start out bad and horrible when they first start so Joaquin has a lot more work.

Maybe Joaquin will impress us all with his rapping when his album comes out. Who knows. He’s producing the album with Sean Combs who is a profesional rapper and Combs will give Phoenix good rapping skills. Phoenix sucked at the Lavo ’cause I think he was simply so drunk and fucked up. Maybe the Phoenix will get better in his rapping in the future. This is only the beggining.

Report: The Phoenix opens up about rap career…

Joaquin speaks out to People magazine on the night of his gig at the Lavo about his future rap career. He admits that a lot of people will think this is a joke and a lot of people would think he sucks, but he doesn’t seem to care though. He’s serious about his rap career ’cause he’s grown bored of years and years of working on film, and he wants to do something fun for a change.

After his Lavo performance, he spent a lot of time meeting fans and taking pictures with them and stuff. I’m sure the fans that were there to see him, they were there because they are a big fan of his movies and hoping to get to meet him in person. They certainly weren’t there for his music. Joaquin wasn’t getting much of a crowd reaction with those videos.

More on it here:

http://www.people.com/people/article/0,,20253488,00.html

That’s fine if Joaquin wants to get into a music career, he just doesn’t need to quit his movie career because of it. There are many actors and musicians that do both in between. Like Will Smith and Billy Bob Thornton for example. Other examples: Kevin Bacon, Scarlett Johansson, Madonna, Jack Black, Rob Zombie, etc. the list can go on. Those are people that do acting and music at the same time.

Phoenix shouldn’t have to give up movies ’cause he’s a really good actor and he threw that all away.

Cool Video: A few more Joaquin Phoenix performances at the LAVO from Perez Hilton’s site!!!

Perez Hilton, the gossip blogger, put up a few exclusive Joaquin Phoenix clips at the LAVO. The Phoenix really did perform a full rap performance.

Check ’em out here:

http://perezhilton.com/2009-01-17-joaquin-phoenix-is-this-a-joke

Notice the second video where the Phoenix falls, I wonder if he did that because he’s so drunk or stoned, you can tell he’s on something ’cause the way he walks and dances on that stage.

I too hope he doesn’t end up like his brother River.

I feel the documentary he’s making with Casey Affleck will be a box office smash, Joaquin is already doing a good job creating controversy on the web so his film and his rap album would probably do well.

I too hope that Joaquin is pranking us about retiring from film. Joaquin, the next Andy Kauffman and Sascha Baron Cohen?
