Thought: If Metallica is inducted in the Hall of Fame, who should induct them?

Dave Grohl of the Foo Fighters is my pick to induct Metallica into the Hall of Fame. It is probably the most likely pick.

I had others in mind like Pat Boone, Ozzy Osbourne, Rick Rubin, Jason Newsted, Dave Mustaine, etc. Yep, I had Mustaine in mind but then I figure Metallica wouldn’t want Dave to induct them. I’m sure Mustaine would go for it if he was asked but since the two have been feuding for over 20 years, I don’t think that’s what Metallica would want.

I’m betting my money that Dave Grohl would probably be the most likely choice.

Anyone else out there have any other choices?

YES! YES! YES! YES!

IT IS HAPPENING! Metallica finally making their way into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for this year’s show!

They are named one of the 9 nominations of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with other nominees such as Run-Dmc, Iggy and the Stooges, Jeff Beck, Chic, Wanda Jackson, Little Anthony and the Imperials, War, and Bobby Womack.

Billboard reports:

Metallica will make it in and they will be inducted! I’m feeling it! Congrats once again boys! It’s been a long time coming for them.

I can see an all star superjam with Jeff Beck, the Stooges, War and Metallica jamming on stage all at once at this year’s Hall of Fame show if they all get inducted this year. Jeff Beck and Kirk Hammett jamming on stage together would be badass!

Thought: It’s difficult for me to review “Death Magnetic”, that I’m not gonna bother to write one!!!

I’ve thought about reviewing the “Death Magnetic” CD to this blog. But I’ve already said the things of what I’ve liked about the album before. I love the album too damn much, that there is really no need for a review. I mean, fuck, “Death Magnetic” almost feels like a Led Zeppelin album, that’s how amazing it really is.

But if I wanted to review it, I would say this that James Hetfield’s singing is just fantastic, Hetfield can’t sing like he used to back in the 80’s but the man was in his 20’s back in those days. Now Hetfield is in his 40’s and he’s been in Metallica for way over 20 years, pretty much his whole life he’s been in the band. But James’s vocals have improved greatly and the man sings with so much emotion and sadness in “Death Magnetic” and you can really hear the emotion in his singing. Reading the lyrics in the booklet, the lyrics are so dark and pretty intense. Is James going through some tough, depressing and emotional times these days? That’s what it seems like with the sound of his lyrics.

Kirk Hammett’s guitar solos are always great as usual. The man is just an incredible guitar player and he’s been a favorite guitar player of mine for years.

Rob Trujillo’s bass playing is just crazy as hell. I am now glad that Jason Newsted doesn’t play with them anymore. Trujillo defines the new Metallica!

Lars Ulrich drumming on “Magnetic”. Holy shit! Lars is such a monster on the drums! This is the best drumming Lars has ever done on any Metallica album. He’s a powerhouse on the drums in “Magnetic”, that Lars almost plays like John Bonham of Led Zep. Lars drumming has improved since the last couple of albums.

“Death Magnetic” is such a masterpiece, a beautifully written album, I am amazed and feel goosebumps everytime I listen to the thing. I don’t have a favorite song on the album, I fucking love them ALL!!!!!

In 2008, the music industry is starting to fail and go down the toilet. Radiohead came out with “In Rainbows”, I was blown away by that record too, Radiohead was starting to shake up the industry but when Metallica came out with the new album, I suddenly forgot the rest of the new music that happened in today’s industry. Metallica is here to save mainstream music.

People asked me for a review of the album, but for some reason, I just can’t get one down since I love the album too damn much. So there you have it. This is why I didn’t review the album yet.

Report: Metallica fans complain about “Death Magnetic” sounding better on Guitar Hero version than the CD version…

While Metallica fans are happy that the band finally made a great album after all these years, it seems that there is one thing missing that the fans aren’t happy with. When the band released “Death Magnetic” for Guitar Hero video game, the fans aren’t happy that the video game version of “Death Magnetic” sounds much better than the CD quality.

More on it here:

http://www.rollingstone.com/rockdaily/index.php/2008/09/18/fans-complain-after-death-magnetic-sounds-better-on-guitar-hero-than-cd/

The way I see it, no matter how Metallica tries their best to make the fans happy, the fans will always find something to complain about Metallica. If you complain about Metallica, screw you, that means you aren’t a true Metallica fan.

Of course the video game version is supposed to sound much better than the CD version. It’s a video game, everyone should know that video games are supposed to sound better. Aerosmith made their own Guitar Hero and Aerosmith songs on that game sounds much better on CD, you don’t see Aerosmith fans whining and complaining about it.

They’re just haters trying to find something different to bitch about Metallica. I plan to get the Guitar Hero version myself of “Death Magnetic” soon.

People complaining about this are jealous losers who need to get a life and find a new hobby.

Thought: Metallica shouldn’t be thanking the fans, we should be thanking them…

Saw the band posted this today:

http://www.metallica.com/index.asp?item=601312

To be honest, I don’t think that “Thank you” post was necessary. I’ll tell you why.

Us fans should be thanking the band for giving us what we wanted. We wanted the true Metallica giving us our metal back and they gave us exactly that. Everyone can now love Metallica again like we all did back in the “Master of Puppets” and “Black Album” days.

So James, Kirk, Lars, and Rob, you shouldn’t be thanking us. We should be thanking you. So if there is anyway we can all thank you for the kick ass album you gave us, I’d say, I do it right here whether you boys in Metallica are reading this or not.

Thanks Metallica! You guys deserve the positive side in your career and once again, congratulations to Metallica! Yeah! Is “Death Magnetic” Grammy worthy for “Album of the Year”? I say, “hell yeah”.

Report: Lars Ulrich wants Metallica to share a gig with U2…

Lars Ulrich expressed his love for U2, that he is a huge fan of Bono and the guys. He told a UK newspaper that his dream is for Metallica to share a same bill with U2.

More on it here:

http://www.roadrunnerrecords.com/blabbermouth.net/news.aspx?mode=Article&newsitemID=105061

As a huge fan of both of these bands, I’d pay to see that.

Maybe Metallica and U2 sharing the stage will actually happen when U2 releases their new album in 2009.

Keep your fingers crossed for this one!

Report: Metallica to be on cover of “Rollingstone” and “Guitar World” magazine…

Metallica will be on the cover of the next Rollingstone and Guitar World magazine with interviews in both magazines. Metallica is taking over the music industry again as I already started seeing the band on the cover on almost every music magazine when you walk into a bookstore.

A lot of people would think James Hetfield formed Metallica and he is the main leader of the band, but the truth is, Metallica is actually Lars’s band. Lars was the one that recruited James and Dave Mustaine ’cause he wanted to form a band, and Lars was the one who came up with the band name, Metallica. He had the band name already in him long before Lars formed Metallica. Metallica is very much Lars creation, James is just a songwriter and singer of the band.

Metallica is back, and metal is back as well. Stay metal. Metallica will not be the only band to take over the music industry, keep in mind that Ac/Dc, Aerosmith, U2, and maybe Guns N’ Roses will all be coming out with new albums, so rock is finally making a comeback. YES!! Kill pop and country music!

Report: Metallica’s gear setups for “Death Magnetic” here…

For you musicians out there like myself, Guitar World revealed the gear that Metallica currently uses for their live shows and I’m sure they use this stuff in studio for “Death Magnetic” as well.

Think Kirk Hammett likes to use all this high tech and really pricey gear? Well, looking at Hammett’s setup, it looks to me it’s pretty simple and basic. He has said in interviews many times, he likes to use simple gear settings and he also said he doesn’t use many effects. And looking at this, it’s the truth, it looks as though, Hammett doesn’t use too many pedals. He said he always used the Ibanez Tubescreamer all the time, it is his favorite pedal, I believe.

Hetfield uses all kinds of effects which is understandable since he is a rhythym player.

Check it out here:

I picked up “Death Magnetic” today and I’m probably gonna be listening to it quite a lot.

Report: Metallica’s “Death Magnetic” no. 1 on Billboard 200…

As this is no surprise to me at all, Metallica’s new album “Death Magnetic” is no. 1 in the Billboard 200, the album sold 490,000 copies since last Friday the release date.

The album “St. Anger” released in 2003, sold 418,000 copies in it’s weekend.

Billboard Reports:

http://www.billboard.com/bbcom/news/article_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1003850483

I’m going to the mall today on my day off of work to pick up the album on CD, I’ll get it at Best Buy of course ’cause the mall wouldn’t have it.

Kev

Edit for correction: I guess Metallica’s “Death Magnetic” is sold everywhere, it isn’t Best Buy exclusive, my bad. There must be a confusion of an article I’ve read somewhere. The Limited Edition of “Death Magnetic” is Best Buy exclusive but the regular album itself is sold in stores everywhere, just a little confusion that’s all.
