Guitar Hero: Aerosmith thoughts…

So I’ve been playing Guitar Hero: Aerosmith the last couple of days. My thoughts? It is pretty much the same exact thing as Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock. Except it’s a different band and different songs. It’s still a fun game to play though.

The truth about Guitar Hero and Rock Band, there is no such thing as “beating” those games, which is called a “sandbox” games which you can never beat them. They are games that you can stop playing whenever you feel like stopping.

For Guitar Hero: Aerosmith, I’m just practising in the “expert” level mode. I ain’t playing the “career” just yet. I probably gonna be playin’ this game all week.

Report: Naked baby on the Nirvana “Nevermind” cover is all growed up…

The famous Nirvana album cover for “Nevermind” the one with the naked baby in a swimming pool floating toward a fishing line with a dollar bill on it, is now 17 years old. Spencer Elden looks back at the famous Nirvana cover after 17 years and admits to find it embarrassing to find himself as a naked baby on an album cover that so many people all over the world has already seen.

The kid Spencer Elden is not living the rich and famous world, and not in any big career. He got his fame just for that one photo for the album cover. He is just a normal everyday person like all of us, living with family and still in high school. He also says being a kid now isn’t as great as being a kid in the 90’s.

How did Spencer get the job for getting dunked underwater for a photo for an album cover? Spencer’s father is a friend of a photographer who was shooting photos for the “Nevermind” album. “Nevermind” became the biggest selling album in the history of music and now the whole world knows what Spencer is like as a naked baby. “Nevermind” is still a very popular album to this day and forever will be.

I remember when I first bought the album when I was a teenager, I was like “wtf”? Why is there a naked baby on the album cover in a swimming pool? I’m sure everyone who bought the album thought the same thing and that’s the point. It was meant to be a controversial album cover to help create a buzz in the music business.

Report: Fleetwood Mac to reunite?

Fleetwood Mac are in talks of reuniting for a tour and Lindsey Buckingham the guitarist for the band says there is an album on the way too. There were rumours about Sheryl Crow joining in on vocals for the band for their tour but Lindsey denied it by saying, “Sheryl Crow joining just lost it’s momentum”.

NME.com reports:

I’ve always enjoyed Fleetwood Mac. Their old stuff is better of course. Glad they got a new album in the works finally.

Report: Former Smashing Pumpkins members sue Virgin records…

Wow! The Smashing Pumpkins really do have some beef against the Virgin Records label do they? Billy Corgan is not the only one who sued the label, James Iha and D’arcy Wretzky-Brown is suing the label too, the two former members are accusing the label of not paying them their profits when they signed the deal with Billy Corgan. It is for downloads and other digital material of the Smashing Pumpkins music such as Itunes  and sites like those.

Billboard reports:

Why is money so important to these rock stars? If that was me, I wouldn’t care. I’d be flattered if my songs were sold digitally if I was a famous rock star, but unfortunately to these two, it’s understandable why they want their money from Virgin since they are no longer in the band. When was the last time you saw James Iha or D’arcy do something musically? Nothing from what I see.

As of Wednesday July 16th, Billy Joel played one of the last two concerts at Shea Stadiumi in New York City. I believe Billy played at Shea stadium again last night on Friday. Yep, Billy Joel is retiring from music for good. Which kind of sucks because he’s been one of my favorites for a long time and I’ve admired Billy Joel for years. I’ve been hoping he would go back into the studio for a new album with new songs but I don’t see that happening anytime soon, because look like he’s done. The picture above is him performing at Shea Stadium.

Billy Joel played cover songs at the concert too, along with special surprise guests he collaborated with on stage. Special guests were John Mellencamp, John Mayer, Tony Bennett and Don Henley.

The second Shea Stadium show, the set was a little different with different special guests collaborations, Special guests in the second show were Steven Tyler of Aerosmith, Sir Paul McCartney, Garth Brooks, Roger Daltrey, and Tony Bennett.

Billy’s setlist for July 18th at Shea Stadium:

Hopefully both of these concerts gets released on CD and DVD in the future. I’m sure Billy would release them. It’s a shame he’s retiring. He’s a talented songwriter and still has it. That Shea Stadium show proved that he is still loved today.

I really like the album cover! Looking forward to the album.
