Report: The White Stripes reunion at Raconteurs show in Detroit last night…

At last night’s Racontuers show in Detroit, Michigan…Meg White the drummer of the White Stripes, Jack and Meg White’s longtime band, made a surprising appearance at the Raconteurs show. While Jack and Meg reunited last night, they didn’t play music together on stage. Meg just appeared to say “hi” to the White Stripes fans who were at the Raconteurs show.

Billboard reports:

While it is pretty cool to see Jack and Meg back together again, I would still be pretty pissed off leaving the Racontuers concert that Jack and Meg didn’t perform. I’m sure the audience at the show last night were pissed off too.

The Raconteurs should have let Jack and Meg play at least one song at the encore, fuck the Raconteurs, bunch of douchebags.

Meg just disrespected the audience by teasing them that the White Stripes may perform but didn’t. I’m sure the White Stripes fans are hating on them for it right about now. Just showing up on stage to say “hi” was pretty pointless if you’re not there to perform. What a way to show off your ego, Meg.

Report: Jimmy Page confirms more Led Zeppelin shows in the fall…

After the Foo Fighters concert at Wembley Stadium in the UK, Jimmy Page was interviewed by the UK Telegraph newspaper, they of course, asked him if Led Zeppelin will play more live shows in the future. Jimmy Page surprisingly confirms, yes, Led Zeppelin is planning to get back together for more shows in the fall. Jimmy says Led Zep fans will have to wait until the other members of the band are finished with their other musical projects.

Robert Plant is still touring with Allison Krauss and Jason Bonham is touring with Foreigner. Jimmy and Jonesy are not doing any touring which is why they said yes to playing the Foo Fighters show at Wembley.

More on it here:

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/2095328/Led-Zeppelin-guitarist-Jimmy-Page-joins-Foo-Fighters-onstage-at-Wembley.html

I hope this one’s true this time and not just some big rumour started by a newspaper. Rumours of Led Zeppelin touring has been happening since the 02 show and it’s hard to believe, don’t believe everything you read online unless you hear from Jimmy Page and Robert Plant about a tour yourself.

I prefer Led Zeppelin make a new album with new songs first before a tour though.

Report: Ac/Dc to exclusively release new album at Wal-Mart…

The legendary rock and roll band, Ac/Dc, plans to release the new album exclusively at Wal-Mart stores first, the new album produced by Brendan O’ Brien. While the album still does not yet have a title, the band plans to release the album this fall.

Billboard reports:

http://www.billboard.com/bbcom/news/article_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1003813749

Look like I’ll have to pick up the new Ac/Dc album at Wal-Mart when it’s out. I wonder why they’re selling it at Wal-Mart first and not everywhere in the U.S.?

I’m willing to bet that this is a test to see if the world still cares about Ac/Dc after all the years the band has been gone. If the CD sells well at Wal-Mart, then the band will sell it everywhere, I think that’s how they’re doing it.

CD Review: Scarlett Johansson “Anywhere I Lay My Head”…

Scarlett Johansson, a hollywood actress known for her gorgeous looks and big natural boobs just came out with an album full of Tom Waits covers. I finally got around to listening to this. Nice and relaxing. I enjoyed Scarlett’s unique vocals. While she gets a lot of negative critique from music listeners and profesional music critics of this album, I’ll have to send this album to a positive direction and say this is actually a real good one. The way I want to hear music is something that needs to be haunting, and something different. Well this album is it. It is haunting and something different.

The reason I enjoy Scarlett’s singing so much is because, her vocals doesn’t really sound like a real female singin voice. It’s supposed to add to the music, and that’s what Scarlett did with her vocals. She’s not worried about trying to sing like Whitney Houston, Barbara Streisand or Celine Dion, she’s singing her own way, giving her vocals to what the song needs. If she wanted to sing like Celine Dion, she would, but that is not needed on this album, especially with this being an album dedicated to Tom Waits.

Everyone is trashing her vocals on one song they heard which is “Falling Down”, the one she duets with David Bowie. But you can’t judge her singing and album just on one song you heard. If you actually listened to the whole album, you may find yourself enjoying it. As for the music being performed by instruments, there’s a lot of things going on in there, a lot of instruments being played. There are mixes of synthesizers, organs, guitars, various unique international instruments you get from other countries, etc.

I just laugh when everyone says she sucks even by listening to just one “song” when they really haven’t heard anything by hers yet. I really enjoyed “Anywhere I Lay My Head”, it’s a fine album. I feel that people diss Scarlett’s music because she ‘s a movie star turned musician like all the other movie stars turned musicians that failed in music. You can’t compare her to the other movie stars turned musicians because she is way different than them. People don’t like it because her music is mellow and slow, her versions of Tom Waits songs sounds nothing like Tom Waits. People would rather hear more upbeat and fast pop songs that you hear in mainstream radio than stuff like Scarlett’s music. Movie stars turned musicians will never get successful in their music because the fact is, their fans like the actors for the films they make, they don’t really care about the music.

Movie stars turned musicians get made fun of in the industry and it’s pretty sad. If you say to these movie stars turned musicians, “Why did you become an actor first, then musician later?”, they’ll respond back with something like, “We’ve always been a musician our whole life, we just wanted to take acting seriously first”. But I’m willing to bet you, these movie stars turned musicians wanted to become famous at music but aren’t able to so they used their movie careers to get record deals. I think that’s a good and smart way to get a record deal by doing movies first.

Like her or not, Scarlett is very talented. More talented than all the other movie stars turned musicians in the past. She has something going good and I hope she continues to make more albums. I hope her next one will be original songs she writes herself.

Score for Scarlett Johansson’s “Anywhere I Lay My Head” = *** (3 stars as in good)

BREAKING NEWS: The Foo Fighters plays with John Paul Jones and Jimmy Page at Wembley Stadium!!!

Last night at Wembley Stadium in the UK, the Foo Fighters played a concert there which Dave Grohl and the rest of the Foos say it’s their best gig and most amazing gig in history of the band’s career. Many rumours speculated that the Foo Fighters will play a few shows together with Led Zeppelin and those rumours turned out to be true at last night’s Wembley Stadium concert.

At last night’s show, after the show was over, Dave Grohl invited John Paul Jones and Jimmy Page to the stage to play a few Led Zeppelin songs for the encore. Jason Bonham and Robert Plant were not there. It was just Jimmy and Jonesy jamming with the Foos. Grohl’s dream of jamming with Led Zeppelin just came true!

Report: A rocking funeral for Bo Diddley…

Instead of making it a sad and depressing funeral, the family and friends of rock and roll legend and pioneer Bo Diddley, wanted to make it a fun and enjoyable one, to celebrate the life of a rock and roller, who changed the world of music. This man Bo Diddley is the true inventor of Rock and Roll music, if it wasn’t for Bo Diddley, then Elvis, The Beatles, Buddy Holly, Richie Valens, and hell, even all of your new favorite bands and artists would not be around today.

Family and friends of Bo Diddley clapped and sang rock and roll songs. They also had a gospel band that performed Bo Diddley’s song that he wrote about himself titled “Bo Diddley” as people passed by Bo’s casket in the funeral.

While everyone thinks Elvis Presley was the world’s first rock and roller, not a chance, Bo Diddley was the first and always will be. Bo Diddley is the birth and creator of rock and roll. If It wasn’t for Bo Diddley, then none of us would be playing music.

Also at the funeral, many of Bo Diddley’s musician friends showed up to send flowers and attend the entire funeral, musicians like Eric Burdon, Jerry Lee Lewis, Tom Petty, George Thorogood and many others were there.

RIP Bo and thanks for giving us rock and roll, man!

Now it makes me want to start buying Bo Diddley CD’s to celebrate the music he gave us.

Billboard reports:

http://www.billboard.com/bbcom/news/article_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1003813356

I’m sure the band would have loved to have their final gig at the CBGB’s the venue where they started at in the first place but since the place is dead, they may as well have it at MSG.

Guitar legend Chuck Berry will perform B.B. King’s “Club and Grill” in NYC tonight at 8 p.m. The club is owned by B.B. Pretty cool. Sounds like a cool place to watch live music.

I wonder if B.B. King himself played a gig at his own club yet? I’m sure he played at the grand opening though, not sure.
