Report: Nine Inch Nails to release new album…

I was never that big on NIN but I do like them. I’ve heard their songs on the radio over the years and I admire Trent’s talent; he’s quite a guy. Trent just announced that he has been keeping a new NIN album secret all along. It’ll get released through Columbia Records, and Trent promises the album will be fucking great. This is exciting news, though. I’ll be looking forward to the new record myself.

See Trent’s announcement, here.

Nine Inch Nails reforms with new members (again) for tour later this year…

So Trent Reznor announced today that the Nine Inch Nails are coming back, but with a totally different lineup of members. Only two past members will return. I was never that big of a NIN fan, but I heard a lot of their songs before on the radio and stuff. I never bought their albums. I remember back in 2009, Trent wanted the NIN to disappear for a while, then during the 4 year hiatus, he took some time to start scoring some films. The first film he scored for was David Fincher’s “The Social Network” which earned him an Oscar for BEST SCORE, and then he composed the music for Fincher’s “Girl With the Dragon Tattoo”. Now, it seems that Trent has missed the rock n’ roll and wants to get back into it. Even though I never bought albums by the NIN, I do respect the band. Trent is a pretty talented guy.

Will there be a new NIN album in the works soon? So far, no news on that yet, just a tour announcement for now, but it wouldn’t surprise me if they do have an album planned in the future. Trent said he wants to start NIN’s from scratch, so they probably will do a new album.

This is good news, though!

Report: Trent Reznor of NIN begs famous bands/artists on major labels to drop out of them…

The Nine Inch Nails has been an unsigned band since dropping out of major labels in 2007. The band has been finding other ways to release music instead of releasing albums on CD. They’ve been releasing their music through the internet and stuff like that.

Read this interesting article, Trent admits that the Nine Inch Nails becoming a major label band was the biggest mistake in his life and his band’s career.

While I agree with Trent, I don’t think today’s major label acts in the mainstream will ever drop out of major labels. Do you think acts like Metallica, Ac/Dc or U2 would drop out of them to go back to an  unsigned band? No. They won’t because they are too addicted and obsessed with the fame and the money.

Like Trent said you don’t need a label to put out records and to make money.

There are ways of becoming a successful band without a label. The Smashing Pumpkins has dropped the major labels and they just release records independently. Indie labels are fine, but the major ones you don’t need.

You can have a good music career, without agents, A&R reps, record producers, etc. getting in your face all the time. Do everything yourself like Trent Reznor does. Fuck the major labels.

BREAKING NEWS: Springsteen, Phish, Nine Inch Nails, Beastie Boys, David Byrne, and Wilco are the major headlining acts for Bonnaroo…

Yep, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band will finally have their opportunity to share the stage with Phish after all these years, that will happen at Bonnaroo 2009 festival. The Bonnaroo Festival is a 4 day music fest with various stages and the festival is at Manchester, Tennessee. Festival will take place on June 11-14.

Other headlining acts are the Nine Inch Nails, Beastie Boys, David Byrne, Wilco, and more. A lot of other surprise appearances by Ben Harper, Kaki King, Merle Haggard, Rodrigo y Gabriela (an instrumental acoustic duo that plays cover songs), and many more.

See the artist lineup for Bonnaroo here:

Sounds like a good show. I’m sure a 2 or 3 hour Springsteen set will be better than his ridiculous 12 minute Halftime show at the Superbowl.

Report: Nine Inch Nails still doing the free music to the internet thing, new album “The Slip” downloadable for free…

First they did this with “Ghosts I-IV”, now they’ve released their second studio album of the year titled “The Slip”. “Ghosts I-IV” was just an instrumental album I believe, “The Slip” is an album with vocals.

Go here to the Nine Inch Nails official website to get the new FREE album:

Music don’t always have to be about the money folks, remember that.

Report: Nine Inch Nails makes over a million bucks for “Ghosts I-IV”…

Trent Reznor of the Nine Inch Nails revealed that their new internet album “Ghosts I-IV” created heavy traffic and made $1.6 million in total. Fans could download the first 9 songs for free or download the entire 36 track album for $5.00.

Nine Inch Nails will NOT sell their new album to Sound Scan to stop their music for reaching the Billboard Charts.

Wow. The band hates the national major label industry this much, eh? I don’t blame them for wanting to stay away from the Billboard charts.

I hope the NIN’s stay unsigned. They prove they can be a successful band even without a label. Trent Reznor seems happy not being a signed band anymore.
