Cool Video: This is why I’m a fan of the Hodge Twins, they give good advice on how much protein you should take in…

This is why I like the Hodge Twins, the Twin Muscle Channel. What makes these guys so cool is that they make sure their fitness information is factual and they do a great job of it, in my opinion. They’re right on the money that a natural bodybuilder don’t need so much protein. I don’t really need so much, which is one of the reasons why I decided to give up drinking Whey Protein powders. I just get protein from real food like egg whites, fish, chicken breast, various meats, etc. Like the Twins said, you need your healthy carbs too, and you can get that stuff from whole wheat bread (I go for the organic bread), plain oat meal, vegetables, etc. You can also get healthy carbs from healthy beans like kidney beans, black beans, etc.

When I first started bodybuilding, I used to think I needed so much protein but then I had to slow it down some, which is why my nutrition is not all the way that strict like most people think. This is why I like to eat what I want on the weekends only.

The Hodge Twins do the best job giving fitness information in youtube. They also do the best job at keeping their videos funny and comedic. A lot of fitness gurus try to be comedic, but the Twins sure get me laughing the hardest. That’s one of the reasons why their channel is addicting.

Brock praises Mayor Bloomberg on large soda bans in NYC… *two thumbs up*

So Mayor Bloomberg made the surprising announcement that he is planning to put a ban on soft drinks that are more than 16 ounces, just in NYC only. They’re putting a ban on that in restaurants, fast food joints, movie theaters, stadiums and arenas. Do I think it’s a good move? Absafuckinglutely!

Soda is evil. It’s not good for ya, and whether you like it or not, it is part of why obesity is a huge problem in America. Before I got into fitness & bodybuilding, I was pretty addicted to soda. Drank so much of it, and it does indeed make you fat. I had to give up soda completely. I haven’t touched any soda at all ever since I started bodybuilding.

Then of course, people on the internet are mad about this. They’re in facebook right now going, “Oh no, the gov’t is taking away our freedoms and rights. We should be able to drink all the soda we want to”. Boo Hoo… you know what? Mayor Bloomberg probably already knew that this move was going to upset a lot of people. Maybe that’s the whole point? It’ll teach people a lesson. Get them thinking first before drinking bad beverages or eating bad food, that they shouldn’t consume. Soda made me fat before I started bodybuilding.

Now that I gave up soda and most junk food, look at the change it got me. I am now more fit than ever before. I have muscle and decent visible abs. This is the goal that Mayor Bloomberg wants for everyone. He wants everyone to get healthy. Stop the junk food addiction and get fit, just like I did. Soda should be banned everywhere, not just NYC. Soda is poison.

The Hodge Twins, the kings of fitness information???

“Hey man, you ready to build some rock hard muscle man? Do ya? Well, that’s good, you just came to the right channel….”

“Man, get the fuck outta the way…”

There are too many fitness gurus online trying to get attention in the fitness industry. Thing is, that none of these fitness guys in youtube are famous or anything. They just want to get themselves out there and help people. I think all these fitness gurus in youtube just want to pass along the success that they achieved. They don’t do it for the fame, they just want to help people.

Whether you like the Hodge Twins or not, you gotta give them the respect. They sure know how to grab people’s attention with their videos and their information is pretty valid and spot on. Better than anybody’s I’ve seen. They definitely know their stuff. I’m definitely am a fan of the Hodge Twins and I’m usually not a fan of any fitness guys in youtube, but the Hodge Twins are great.

None of the fitness gurus in youtube are going to become famous but if one of them are going to get famous, it would be the Hodge Twins. I can see them doing their own workout DVDs and books soon. The TMW Channel is indeed the best fitness channel in youtube.

Edit to add: I know I gave the Hodge Twins a shout out on here before, but I’m giving them another one, why? Because I can do whatever, THE FUCK, I WANNA DO!!!!!

All this talk on tanning…

Wow, so the topic of tanning got pretty big on the internet, because of this tanning Mom thing. That story where she brought her 5 year old kid tanning with her.

Here’s my brief thoughts. When I first started bodybuilding & fitness, I thought about tanning, but then I decided I’m never going to do it. Why? Because tanning is very dangerous and silly. There too many gym people that do tanning these days. They go to tanning salons and use tanning beds, or they lay under the sun in the summer time. The reason why people do it ’cause they live in this fantasy world that they want to have perfect bodies. They don’t want to admit that they dream of having a supermodel body so they can look sexy in the summer while out in the beach. People just enjoy that attention for themselves.

I don’t need to look like that. Plus, you never know the bad things that could come out of tanning. It could damage your skin. Also, you skin could look uglier if you don’t do it, right and carefully. It could also increase the chance of skin cancer. Tanning is just not safe, period.

On top of that, you can get an okay tan just by simply walking outside in the sun, just enjoying everyday life, as long as you use suntan lotion so you don’t get burned. Tanning is ugly. I’m proud of the way I am now. Natural is the way to be.

Why I stopped giving fitness tips and advice…

Some may wonder why I don’t write about fitness too much anymore, whether it will be on here or in facebook. It’s not that I’m giving up fitness & bodybuilding. I’ll never give it up. I’m still going and still committed. I stopped giving fitness tips ’cause I don’t want to be looked at as an online fitness guru. I don’t really need that kind of attention. Plus, I still have lots of learning and plenty of work to do, before people start taking my advice seriously. I would like to become a certified personal trainer someday, but I’m going to wait for a long while for that. I want to wait to get a good enough physique and wait to have many years of experience, ’cause for right now, I’m still just a beginner, and a noob at Bodybuilding. This is like what, my 5th year doing it, I think? Pretty sure it is.

I still do write about fitness sometimes though as you can tell. I work out 3 days a week, not 4 like most people. I think 4 is just over training, just my opinion. The less you do, the better results you get. I don’t stay in the gym for too long, I’ll see the same guys in the gym for hours, when all you really need is 10 to 30 minutes in the gym, that’s it. I just go in there and do a couple of quick things.

I’m also finding that free weights are more effective than the machines. I only use the machines for just a few things and doing free weight stuff mostly, either barbell or dumbbell stuff. The only things I use the machines for is the leg press, ham string curl, and those v shaped thigh machine things. Whenever I don’t want to use the ham string curl machine, I’m finding that the stiffed dumbbell deadlift is the best workout for hamstrings. Do the stiffed dumbbell deadlift, that will make your hamstrings feel weird for the next few days. Stiffed dumbbell deadlift is my favorite workout. May sound boring but it’s great. I think the barbell deadlift is overrated and pretty dangerous to do. The dumbbell deadlift is safer. I don’t squat or deadlift with barbells. I know both workouts are very popular, but I like to find workouts that not a lot of people are doing.

Back to the topic, I don’t want to be an online fitness guru, ’cause I don’t think I’ll be good at doing that. I don’t need that competition with the other guys. I want to be known as a musician and entertainment blogger. I will still write about fitness of course, but only if it’s something that’s worth it. Those fitness gurus online are just as crazy as musicians are. All fitness gurus want to think they’re smart and think they know everything, they all have their own opinion and views. Different ways of teaching things.

Maybe I’ll post new progress pics soon. I haven’t done that in a while either.

Bodybuilding shouldn’t be about posing or showing off, in my opinion…

A lot of people mistakenly believe that bodybuilding is always about looking the greatest being half naked. Posing, and showing off in front of everybody. That stuff is great, and respectful, but in my opinion, that’s not what bodybuilding to me is about. To me bodybuilding is all about making life for the better. I’ve explained it on this blog before. You don’t have to have a sexy and hot muscular bod. That would be nice to have, I would like a body like that too, but that’s not what I look for in bodybuilding. In bodybuilding, it just helps make you a much better person and helps make you have a better life.

It’ll help you do better things in life. Will help you do a lot more physical things in life without injury. You can do more sporting activities or help people do outside work without injury and will be able to do that stuff. It’ll help make you healthier on the inside, you won’t get sick as much. Plus, bodybuilding will help you become a more sociable person. People will talk to you more if they see if you have a ripped physique.

I’ll admit that I’m kind of a shy and anti-social person, but bodybuilding is helping me become a more sociable person. It’s helping me be more confident talking to people a lot more often. How does bodybuilding help make you more outgoing? Well, the more successful you get in bodybuilding, the more respect you get by people around you. Trust me, they’ll talk to you ’cause they respect you for your fitness dreams and goals. Bodybuilding will also help get you a nice lover in your life. I haven’t gotten a girlfriend out of this yet, but this did help me get more confidence talking to women a lot more.

Bodybuilding can help get you out of stress and will help you become more happier and more upbeat. See? Bodybuilding doesn’t have to be about building the greatest muscle ever. It’s all about enjoying life and enjoying every minute of it. There’s too many reasons why I got into bodybuilding that’s hard to explain, but another reason is that I wanted to prove people that I can be good at something, and wanted something to do other than music.

Don’t always look at bodybuilding for having the greatest body ever ’cause it doesn’t have to be. I may have a lot of work to do in my physique, but I don’t care. Just not rushing, and just enjoying life. That’s what bodybuilding should be about.

This is STILL the most popular blog post on my site, still gets lots of views…

My post, “My flip flop on Scooby’s Workshop“, is still getting a hundred views to this day. It did create controversy and it did anger a lot of Scooby fans, but I don’t care. My feelings on “Scooby’s Workshop” still remains the same. It still angers his fans as I sometimes see people complain about the post and they try to defend the guy in his forum. Of course, they’ll slam me for it, accusing me of being jealous, then they’ll start posting my shirtless pics, just to show that I’m no where near Scooby’s physique. I made that post two years ago and sometimes, people still respond to it.

While I admit, that I maybe wrong on a few things here and there in that post, my opinions still hasn’t changed on this guy. He claims he’s trying to teach bodybuilding in a positive note, yet he continues to attack other online fitness trainers and he’ll claim he’s just telling the truth. People can attack me all they want to on that post. I have the right to be real on this stuff myself as long as he’s posting this stuff publicly for the world to see and respond to.

Don’t get me wrong, I appreciate online fitness trainers. There’s a few of them that I look after and follow on a regular basis like Lui Marco and the Hodge Twins. I respect those two. I’m not a fan of Scooby too much. I just don’t trust Scooby’s source, that’s all. Although, I’ll admit, he does come out with a decent video every once in a while.

When people slam my physique and attack me, that other guys have a better physique than me, that’s means I’m successful at bodybuilding. Think about it. My shirtless posing pics gets passed around everywhere on the net. Even though they do it to make fun of my physique, they just don’t want to admit that I am successfully ripped. Not trying to sound like an egomaniac.

Nice article about Arnold in bodybuilding…

Love Arnold or hate him, he was one of the only bodybuilders who helped make the sport mainstream and popular. Before him, it was Jack Lalanne who made fitness popular, but it was Arnold who took it to the next level. Even more people got into it because they all wanted to be like Arnold.

Read this great article, on how we can learn from Arnold, here.

I know many would accuse Arnold of using steroids, but he already admitted to it. He took steroids back in his younger years when they used to be legal in his home country of Austria, where he grew up. Of course, Arnold is one of my inspirations of getting into bodybuilding

I don’t know if I’ll ever look like he did back in the old days. I’m not doing this to compete. I just want to be in decent shape and have some muscle on me. That article is good advice to get bigger gains. Visualization, the pump, and lifting heavier.

Thanks to one of my facebook followers who pointed me out this article. I don’t do bodybuilding to impress other people or to be a show off. I just want to be healthy, be stronger and tougher. I want to look better being half naked out in public. I also want to protect myself for self defense. All sorts of reasons why I got into bodybuilding. Arnold and Sly are my two biggest inspirations for me wanting to get into it. I do hope to look like those guys someday. I’ll just keep it up and see how it goes.

Seems like everyone is into fitness these days…

I find it really amazing how fitness & bodybuilding has become so popular. Everybody wants to get into it these days. More public gyms are opening around this area and more health foods stores are opening around here too (Whole Foods, slowly making their way to the Capital District). I am noticing that losing weight is more popular than bodybuilding though. Most people want to lose the pounds more than bodybuilding, there aren’t many that are into bodybuilding around here.

Why is fitness so popular and mainstream? Why does everyone wants to get into it? Well, I certainly blame it on TV shows like, the “Biggest Loser” for one. I also blame it on the fitness ads you see in the magazines which could be responsible for getting people motivated. Plus the supplement products help get people interested. I also blame it on P90X or beachbody stuff (no offense to Steve) and all these muscle & fitness magazines. A lot of people get into fitness expect to see fast results that the ads make you believe. It’s not true. Losing weight or building muscle takes years. In my opinion, supplemental products don’t really do anything, and they just want your money. You achieve your goals on a strict nutrition.

I didn’t get into fitness because of all the ads and fitness media.

I got into it because of Sly & Arnold, pretty much. They were my main inspiration. Yes, of course, people will accuse those guys using steroids, but they help get people motivated, no matter what you think of them. It makes me want to feel tough like them. It makes me want to look like them someday, when I reach their age. I may have decent results and I may be at a good start now, but I still have lots of work and learning to do. I’m still studying nutrition and still trying make my eating habits better as well.

It’s good that people want to lose weight, but they need to think about adding more muscle too. A lot of them fail to realize that building muscle helps them lose the weight even more and faster. They just eat really good and do way too much cardio, not lift any weights at all. You need to lose the pounds and add the muscle at the same time.

People are desperate to lose weight or build muscle, when they need to learn that this stuff takes time. Just enjoy life, keep it up and be happy. I may not look like Sly or Arnold yet, but I’m not rushing to get there. People will think it’s impossible to look like Sly or Arnold, but I believe it’s possible. Just don’t give up. Work hard and prove people wrong.

Scooby’s chest idea, actually worked…

I actually tried Scooby’s chest idea that he showed in that video. Went with his decision, and tried it at the gym. Did the well rounded chest workout, the regular chest workout, and I also hit the upper and lower pecs, doing incline/decline stuff. Well, guess what.

My pecs have been pretty sore for the past couple of days since that chest workout a couple of days ago. If I keep doing the chest workouts this way, without doing any pushups so I won’t overtrain, I could finally get some good chest gains if I keep at this.

Ever since I first started fitness, I’ve been struggling to shape up my chest some, and thanks to Scooby, I finally discovered a way. The rest of my body looks fine enough, it’s just the chest needs more work. If I want to have a well built physique over all, I need bigger chest muscles.

Trying the best I can, by trying different things.
