Report: Beyonce drops out of Eastwood’s “A Star Is Born” musical… who will replace her?

Pop star, Beyonce, has been slated to star in Clint Eastwood’s upcoming music, “A Star Is Born”, but she dropped out due to a busy schedule. The filming does not even have a start date yet.

More on the story, here.

Who should replace her? I’d say who cares! This project should be cancelled altogether. I can’t see Clint doing a musical. Although, it wouldn’t surprise me, if he’ll try to get Rihanna or Jennifer Hudson to replace her. *yawn*

Cool Video: “Hitchcock” trailer is here, and surprisingly looks very good too!

I was skeptical of this, but after seeing this trailer, the film looks promising. Anthony Hopkins looks great as Hitchcock, that guy can play anything that throws at him. I’ll be there for this one, I think. The film is about the making of “Psycho”, it’s not really a straight up biopic.

RIP Christopher Reeve who died 8 years ago today…

Back when Christopher Reeve passed away in 2004, I was devastated. I was heartbroken and it kind of killed me too. Chris, was a huge inspiration to me. A lifelong childhood hero. It’s a real shame what happened to him. The horse accident and being paralyzed for life for it. So sad. RIP to his wife Dana too. Hopefully the upcoming, “Man of Steel” movie will be dedicated to them. I’m sure it will be.

I first heard about Chris Reeve’s death when I was on vacation at the Martha’s Vineyard that year. I was truly shocked and sad that day. “Superman: The Movie” and “Superman II” will always be the greatest Superman flicks ever made. Warner Bros., can reboot the series all they want to, but Chris Reeve can’t be replaced.

The Brock’s Horror Film Pick #10: The Descent

This is a 2005 British horror film written and directed by, Neil Marshall. It’s about a group of young British women who go on an adventure to explore the deep caves. Exploring the caves start off good and fun for them for a while, but of course, they discover something mysterious and unusual. Creatures living in that cave.

This was actually one of the great horror film in the 2000’s years. I never used to be interested in this film ’cause I was skeptical of it. Then I finally rented the DVD from Netflix, and I’m like, “Holy shit, that film was impressive”. The story has a good plot, it was well acted by the women. It was filmed and directed pretty good too. Plus, it’s kind of scary as hell! Even though it’s still kind of an action movie more than horror, it is still real good. It was unpredictable and you never knew what was going to happen next.

Great flick. Definitely check it out.

The Brock’s Horror Film Pick #9: Hellraiser

This is a pretty epic horror flick directed by the great, Clive Barker, “Hellraiser”. The man responsible for bringing us the iconic horror character, Pinhead, played by the great, Doug Bradley. The film was also written by Barker as well, adapted from his own novel, “The Hellbound Heart”. This film is good ’cause it’s not really a slasher flick. It actually has a story, and a plot! It’s about a couple who moves into an old house, and discover this creature, which used to be the wife’s former lover. This creature lost most of his body to a trio of demons called, the Cenobites. He is brought back to life by the Cenobites, and forces his former lover to bring him blood, in order to complete his body.

The Hellraiser franchise has always been underrated. Of course, there are plenty of sequels after this movie, but I only liked the first two. This film here is pretty amazing though. Loved everything about it. I hear there is a re-boot coming soon of the Hellraiser franchise. If you haven’t seen the original “Hellraiser”, it is streamable for Netflix, get on it soon. The rest of the sequels of this franchise are Netflix streamable too.

The Brock’s Horror Film Pick #8: Psycho (the 1960 original)

Time to throw in another classic here. The original “Psycho”, directed by the late and great, Alfred Hitchcock. Starring Anthony Perkins and Janet Leigh. It’s another one of my favorites. Not only the classic shower scene made it great, the whole film is great. Everything about the film is perfect.

Btw, these films list are in no particular order, I’m just going by the days up until Halloween. So I’m just picking my favorite films at random.

The Brock’s Horror Film Pick #7: The Ring

Alright, time to do a newer film this time. This is one of the good horror film remakes, directed by the great Gore Vebinski, “The Ring”, also starring Naomi Watts, and Martin Henderson,  which is a ghost story. It’s about a journalist who discovers a video tape and you get killed a week later after viewing. The movie is very scary and creepy. The way horror movies should be written! This is another one of those movies I watch on Halloween every year. It is a really great film. I didn’t care for the sequel though.

The Brock’s Horror Film Pick #6: A Nightmare on Elm St. (1984, original)

While there has been a whole bunch of sequels and now a reboot is happening, the original “Nightmare on Elm St.” is what it’s all about. I love the original. Probably, more than the other movies. Directed by Wes Craven, starring Robert Englund as the original Freddy and this film marks the film debut of superstar, Johnny Depp. Another classic film, that I love.

Film Review: Taken 2

Starring: Liam Neeson, Famke Janssen, Maggie Grace, Rade Serbedzija

Directed by: Olivier Megaton

Today, I’ve just seen the movie, “Taken 2”. Liam Neeson is starting to be one of my favorite actors now. I’ve been seeing a lot of his movies in the theater lately. He makes a badass action hero, so I had to see “Taken 2”, since I loved the first one. On with the review:

Plot/synopsis: Bryan Mills (Neeson) returns and reunites with his family, Lenore and Kim, a year after the events in Paris. On a trip to Istanbul where Bryan currently lives, he gets a surprise visit from Lenore and Kim. Of course, their vacation in Istanbul does not go so well, when Bryan and Lenore was kidnapped by men who worked for Murad Hoxha (Rade Serbedzija) who is the father of the man who Bryan killed in the first film.

Some reviewers think this is close of a remake from the first movie, but I don’t think it is. The plot is different. The characters are the same yes, but it’s going for a different story here. Instead of repeating the same “oh no, the daugther’s been kidnapped”, which has already been done, why not have the main star of the film get kidnapped himself? I thought it was a good idea! I also thought teaming up Bryan and Kim together for action and try to help save Lenore, was very cool too! The Bryan and Kim team up felt like the TV show, “24”, a little bit.

As usual the action was a blast! You will see a mix of fist fighting, car chasing, explosions, and gun shooting all throughout the movie! It was an action packed ride for sure and I thought it had way more action than the first movie! In the first movie, Bryan Mills was the hero. They wanted to take this movie in a different turn, and make him look weak by kidnapping him. So he trains his daughter, Kim, to be the hero instead. So in reality, it was Kim who was the star of this movie. After the horrible stuff that Kim went through from the first film, the writers felt like it was a good idea to have her become part of the action. The action scenes were a little violent and graphic, similar like the first one. Bryan Mills wants to be a tough guy who takes no bullshit from anyone.

Some reviewers say the entire movie is much like the first one, which again I disagree with. They only took like one or two scenes from the first film I noticed. Like the one scene where Bryan has a cookout with his buddies, that was done in the sequel. Also, the one scene where he sneaks into a small room to kick some ass with a bunch of guys. That was about it. Other than that, the rest of the film was pretty original, from what I’ve seen. They just made a few scenes similar from the first, ’cause what if people haven’t even seen the first film? I can see why they did it. Not everyone have seen the first film, so they did it as a way to bring more people to the first one, in the film’s defense.

I thought “Taken 2” was great, it was just as good as the first one. There’s probably gonna be a Taken 3 ’cause Bryan said that Murad had more sons. It’s going to be even tougher to do a 3rd Taken movie ’cause Bryan, Lenore and Kim has already been taken. So who will they take next?

Score for “Taken 2” = *** = 3 stars as in (good).

The Brock’s Horror Film Pick #5: Night of the Living Dead (the 1968 original)

The Zombie genre maybe pretty huge in today’s entertainment industry. Zombies have taken over TV with shows like “Walking Dead”, and all sorts of zombie, Hollywood movies. Even George A. Romero is still making zombie flicks to this day. While there is all that, nothing will top the original “Night of the Living Dead”, which is another film I’ll never get tired of watching. This film is the perfect zombie film. I’m pretty sure many kids of today’s generation haven’t even seen it. This is a true zombie film here. Another perfect film to watch around Halloween season. Forget the “Walking Dead” kids, “Night of the Living Dead” is the real deal!

They’re coming to get you, Barbara!
