Report: Nicolas Cage to star in “Bad Lieutenant” remake…

Actor Nicolas Cage has been signed to star in the remake of “Bad Lieutenant” which was a film made back in 1992 that got an NC-17 rating. Harvey Keitel starred in the original version of the film. The remake will be made by Nu Image/Millenium and I would guess the new version would get an R rating so more people can see it.

The story focuses on a lousy cop who doesn’t do his job right by being addicted to drugs, sex, gambling and stealing. The film will be announced at this year’s Cannes festival.

Nicolas Cage’s latest film is a film titled “Bangkok Dangerous”, set to be released August 22nd of this summer, it is an action film about a criminal played by Cage who falls for a Thai woman.

Nic Cage is one of those actors who never stops working, he keeps coming out with film after film every time. I don’t think he ever takes a break. He is a good actor though, I enjoy watching his films.

Report: Martin Scorcese will sing “New York, New York” for Frank Sinatra…

“Start spreading the news, I’m leaving today…”, yes that’s right, Martin Scorcese will make a biopic film with Unervisal Pictures about the legendary Frank Sinatra. The producer is Sinatra’s youngest daughter, Tina. While the film will mostly focus on the life of Frank Sinatra it will mainly be about Sinatra’s brief run in with the mafia (or the mob), believe it or not, Sinatra was a trouble maker in his older days. Tina wants to reveal the truth in the film that Frank Sinatra had a criminal past working for the mafia. So you can very well expect a high amount of violence in this film similar to the film “The Departed”.

Dark Horizons reports:

It’ll be interesting who’s Scorsese is gonna choose to play Sinatra. As long as he doesn’t get Leo Dicaprio again, I’ll go see it.

The controversial film maker, Michael Moore is planning a sequel to his film “Fahrenheit 9/11”. “Fahrenheit 9/11” is a documentary which focuses on blaming George W. Bush for the war and the 9/11 World Trade Center attacks. Michael Moore’s plans for the sequel has not yet been revealed. Seems like he’s keeping the plotting underwraps for now. Moore has made other documentaries like “Bowling for Columbine” and “Sicko”.

It’s Michael Moore vs. Oliver Stone, two men doing movies about George W. Bush.

Oliver Stone is doing a Bush biopic titled “W” and stars Josh Brolin as our president in the film.

Report: “Fraggle Rock” making a return to the big screen…

The Weinstein Co. has just greenlighted to make Jim Henson’s “Fraggle Rock” into a live action motion picture. The original characters Gogo, Wembley, Mokey, Boober and Red will be making a return to the film. The story focuses that the characters leave their underground world to our world which they think the humans are aliens just like in the TV series. The TV series is co-starred by Gerard Parkes who plays the role of Doc who works in a workshop and is an inventor that has a dog named Sprocket.

The movie does not have any other cast members announced and neither a director. Just a bunch of producers and writers are signed to the picture.

Fraggle Rock only lasted 5 seasons back in the 80’s. I don’t think it’ll do very well in theater but who knows.

I just think the Weinsteins just trying to compete with the new Muppet movie in the works.

Report: Warner Bros. lie about “Speed Racer” box office budget…

Warner Bros. continue to show how much of a disgrace that company is to the film industry!!!!!!! They lie about the budget “Speed Racer” made last weekend. In the public reports, they said that “Speed Racer” made about $20.2 Million being no. 2 behind “Iron Man”, but in reality, the film really made $18.7 million making it no. 3.

Variety Reports:

http://www.variety.com/article/VR1117985504.html?categoryid=13&cs=1

Fuck WARNER BROS!!!! I lose my respect to them everytime they pull something like this. The more success a company gets, the egos expand. That’s the way this society is.

Report: After Indy 4, here comes Abe Lincoln for Spielberg…

Right after Steven Spielberg gets done promoting “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull”, he will get right to work on the next film about our 16th President of the United States, Abraham Lincoln and the Civil War. Spielberg will make this film through Dreamworks and could possibly begin filming early next year. Spielberg had actor Liam Neeson confirmed to play Lincoln which is a perfect choice for the role.

Variety Reports:

Look like Spielberg is aiming for the Oscars on this one. And sounds like this one may be a long film between 3-4 hours. Spielberg had always been known to make long films so don’t get your hopes up if this will be a short one.

Report: “Iron Man” still tops box office, “Speed Racer” flops…

“Iron Man” still stays strong on the no. 1 spot for box office this weekend. “Speed Racer” starring Emile Kirsch is no. 2 making around 20 million.

The Associated Press Reports:

http://apnews.excite.com/article/20080511/D90JKPUO0.html

“Iron Man” won’t be no. 1 much longer since “Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian” came out this weekend. “Prince Caspian” will indeed beat “Iron Man” in world records. I will be seeing “Prince Caspian” tomorrow on my day off of work.

Oh yeah, speaking of “Iron Man”, I picked up the video game version of “Iron Man” for the PS3 at Best Buy today. I won’t play the game right away though, I need to beat “Grand Theft Auto IV” first before I start to play any other games. I think I’m officially addicted to videogames again. I don’t buy music CD’s or movies on DVD’s much anymore ’cause I’ve gotten back into videogames. I went out shopping with parents this afternoon since it’s Mother’s Day and all so I decided to go to Best Buy ’cause I couldn’t resist in buying something for myself.

Film Review: Iron Man

Starring: Robert Donwey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, and Jeff Bridges

Directed by: Jon Favreau

Last night, I went to see the new “Iron Man” at a late showing. It really wasn’t one of my most anticipated films of the year, I saw it because it got good reviews and broke world records in box office. It actually took me a while to get interested in Iron Man because to be honest, I wasn’t interested in it at first. So I decided to check it out.

Robert Downey Jr. plays a business man and rich guy named Tony Stark. He goes on a trip with the Army in the Middle East, and then he suddenly suffered some life threatening danger there. Tony owns a weapons business where he makes a living off of and his goal to help saves lives in the world. Tony and the Army are being attacked in the Middle East by terrorist, Tony Stark decides to go on revenge by building an armor full of robotic weapons and flying equipment known as Iron Man.

As far as my thoughts on the movie goes, I thought it was pretty good and entertaining. Nothing amazing or great, but exceptionally good. I give credit for Marvel movies improving though. The fight scenes were entertaining but could be a little longer. Iron Man could have had a few more weapons. Jeff Bridges played a pretty good bad guy in the film. I also give credit to Robert Downey Jr’s good acting in the film.

While I thought “Iron Man” was pretty good, I’m sure there are even better movies coming out this year like “Indy 4”, “Prince Caspian”, “The Dark Knight”, “Wanted”, etc. I’m glad I went and saw “Iron Man” ’cause I came pretty close in waiting for DVD release.

“Iron Man” film score: *** (3 stars as in good)
