More Led Zeppelin press conference thoughts…

After watching the entire Led Zeppelin press conference, I am noticing these guys are acting kind of weird throughout the entire thing. While they do seem like friendly guys and pretty humorous, Jimmy was kind of acting like a jerk a little bit. Robert did most of the talking and he was the one who got the audience to laugh a lot. Robert did the most interesting discussions, while Jimmy was looking bored through the whole thing. While Jonesy seems like a friendly guy, probably the best thing he said was, “5 years is like 5 minutes in Zeppelin time”. I thought that was awesome, and insightful! 5 years may seem long for us, but to them, not really. I also liked how Robert praised Mumford & Sons after being asked what current artist that he likes the most. I know Mumford & Sons is pretty hot in the industry right now, I never really got into them yet. Also if you notice throughout the conference, Robert was sitting so close to Jimmy, which makes it seems like Robert and Jimmy were staying away from Jonesy, which is kind of awkward.

Jimmy never felt comfortable doing interviews, as he always hated doing them. Jimmy doesn’t do interviews much, only on special occasions.

I know I post a lot of Zeppelin on this blog, that’s because I’m a die hard, and this is the time I go crazy over Zeppelin posts whenever they release something new or in the news again.

One quick note on Led Zeppelin…

While Led Zeppelin refused to answer any upcoming reunion questions at the press conference today, they didn’t really say, “Yes” or “No”. They just came back with smart ass answers, laughing them off. If there wasn’t going to be any upcoming reunion concerts, they would have said no at the press conference, but they didn’t. Keeping quiet about everything. Which makes it seems like that they are hinting that it could be a slight possibility. Maybe they are planning something for 2013 but they were being very secretive about it.

Of course, the typical doubters keep saying stuff like these has beens should stay retired, they’re just doing it for the money, etc. Blah blah blah. That’s what musicians do. Play music, they can’t get away from it. I still think Led Zep have some music left in them. I’m all for anything they want to do. I support them 100%.

Edit to add: Here’s the full video of the press conference, here.

Led Zeppelin doesn’t rule out future shows, so another reunion can be a possibility…

The photo above is a recent photo of Led Zep at the “Celebration Day” press conference today. Of course, as expected, the press couldn’t resist asking if they’ll ever play together again. While the press didn’t get much of an answer from Jimmy and Robert, they came back with small replies. Giving hints that they could play again in the future. Jimmy sounded grumpy when he answered the question, by asking people if they enjoyed the film, and all Robert said was “kiss and tell”. Which means it can be a possibility?

Like I’ve said so many times, don’t ever doubt Led Zep. They’re a band, that’s what they do. Get together to play music so they can do what they want to do.

Edit to add: Here are even more photos from the press conference today, here.

Cool Photo: Led Zeppelin confirms press conference to discuss “Celebration Day” release, and possibly other things???

Led Zeppelin just posted this photo of a press conference table. You see 4 chairs there, which I’m sure are being saved for Jimmy, Robert, Jonesy and Jason to sit on. Look like the press conference is gonna be sometime today. Other than the band discussing their “Celebration Day” with the media, I’m sure the band will discuss future plans like a full tour, maybe another one off show, new album, etc. You know the press won’t resist asking the band those questions. So hopefully the band, will answer questions like that, so they can squash speculation and rumors about their future.

Remember, anything is possible with Led Zep. They can do anything they want to. Don’t ever doubt that they will do a tour, put out a new album or whatever. They’re a band like everyone else. They do these things.

Enjoy the photo, here.

I’m sure the press conference will be somewhere in the UK. Hopefully they’ll live stream it too!

Kev

EDIT TO ADD: Excuse me, there’s only three chairs and three mics there, my bad. Only Jimmy, Robert, and Jonesy will be there, no Jason. What I found:

“Led Zeppelin‘s surviving members will be in London this Friday to participate in a press event promoting Celebration Day, the film capturing the band’s December 2007 reunion concert that will premiere in theaters around the world next month. Singer Robert Plant, guitarist Jimmy Page and bassist/keyboardist John Paul Jones all will be on hand to meet with the media, and also will attend a screening of the movie.

As recently reported, the film will be screened in about 1,500 cinemas on October 17 after gala premieres are held in several locations, including London, New York City and Los Angeles. Then, on November 19, Celebration Day will be released to retail in multiple video and audio formats.”

Report: Fiona Apple’s been a bad bad girl, she’s now a certified “Criminal”…

Fiona Apple may have a clean criminal record, but not anymore. She’s now a real life “Criminal”, based on one of her own songs. She’s been arrested at a border stop in Texas. She has been caught with hashish. She can now join the club with Willie Nelson, Snoop Dogg and Armie Hammer.

More on the story, here.

RIP Jimi Hendrix, who died 42 years ago today…

Jimi Hendrix was one of the guitar greats and my heroes who made me for what I am. A guitar player. Other than Jimmy Page being the big inspiration who made me for what I am, Hendrix is right behind him.

In this interview with the Dick Cavett show, Cavett told him that he’s one of the greatest guitar players in music, and as you see in the video Jimi embarrassingly said, “Oh no”, and then admitted he’s not the greatest, he just wanted to play for the love of it.

That’s where I come from. I don’t think I’m a great guitar player or songwriter either, I just play, but there are people out there who say that I’m good all the time, whatever. It’s weird how music is. Back in the 60’s and 70’s was where the real talent was at. Today’s music is nothing but manufactured pop music which is sad.

Enjoy this little video.

Cool Video: The mighty Soundgarden unleashes “King Animal” trailer!

Soundgarden, one of my favorite bands just released a teaser video of their upcoming new album, “King Animal”, which I will get the album. I really hope this is a good album and it won’t disappoint. I’m hoping it’ll be heavy rockin’, and not another “Down on the Upside” sounding album. I like, “Down on the Upside” but wasn’t their best album. I thought “The Superunkown”, “Badmotorfinger”, and “Louder Than Love” were their best records. I’m looking forward to hearing what Soundgarden has in store for us for their next record.

Enjoy it, here.

Thought: Why Facebook is the place for famous bands to announce big news…

A certain reader on this site was making claims, famous bands don’t use facebook to announce big news. This reader also claims that if a famous band were to announce breaking news, they would do more. Not true. You see, bands use facebook to announce huge breaking news is not only most national bands have around 6 million to 10 million fans or way more following their page, another reason bands use facebook for exclusive news is ’cause of the media. The Entertainment news media is always on facebook looking for exclusive things to report.

Before the Rolling Stones announced their greatest hits album, they were doing similar teasers in facebook, then Led Zeppelin did it. After both bands announced their big news, the media were all over it. The media loves to look for official news from bands. Famous bands don’t need to do more when announcing big official news, ’cause all they have to do is post it on facebook, and everyone will be all over it. Facebook seems to be a huge marketing tool for famous national bands in major labels. It’s where everyone looks at these days, and like I said before, no one looks at their official “(name band here).com” sites anymore. Fans do look at the bands official sites still yes, but it’s most likely their longtime die hard fans that mostly like to look at them. If a band wants to draw more people to their sites, they would post a link their facebook pages.

Just the other day, Neil Young just exclusively announced in facebook that he’s releasing a new album with Crazy Horse called, “Psychedellic Pill” (I didn’t see him post about it in his website yet), and next thing you know, I’ve seen the news media doing articles about it. Ac/Dc also announced today FACEBOOK exclusive that they are releasing their first live album in 20 years, “Live At River Plate”, sure enough, the media started publishing articles about it. I believe Bob Dylan announced his new album “Tempest” in facebook as well, before everything else got to it. Lady Gaga used facebook to announce her next album, “ArtPop”. If I remember correctly, Metallica used facebook to announce their own Orion festival.

The entertainment news and media are all about social media. Facebook is a huge part of this world now. It seems that’s where everyone lives on. The facebook band “like” pages has millions and millions of fans, that’s why the media concentrates on them. Facebook seems to be the only way for fans to see what their favorite bands are up to. Why do famous national bands use facebook for big news? Well, it’s a quicker way to get the news out. Instead of wasting time posting it on their official sites or doing marketing else where, all you need is a post in facebook, the world would be all over it in a second.

That’s the way social media works and that’s how facebook is changing the music industry. It’s called technology. Get with it.

Led Zeppelin announcement gets mixed reactions from fans, either love it or hate it…

I was right on one thing, that all this hype over a movie, was going to upset some people, Led Zep is already getting a lot of negative shit from the fans, read some of the comments, here.

I was also right that the announcement was going to be bigger than a DVD release, and having the 02 show being screened in theaters is bigger. So I got a few little things right, here and there.

I mean think about it, right? If a band was to do a huge countdown and tease big things, you think they go out on tour or put out an album. All the hype and buzz over something little. This is why some fans are upset. I understand them though.

As a fan, I’ll take the announcement for what it is. I’m glad the 02 is coming out.
Kev

Led Zeppelin announcement, whether I am right or wrong or not, who cares?

I know in this blog, we were arguing on who is right or wrong, but the truth is, it doesn’t matter. That’s what the teasers and countdowns are for, to get everyone talking, guessing what it is. So in reality, there are no right or wrong answers. That’s what the band wanted with the fans. Get them all excited, for a hopeful tour or album announcement, whatever it is. That’s what teasers and countdown does to people. It’s supposed to be confusing to us. They are supposed to trick us on what the announcement is, that’s the point of the mystery. It was fun though.

I still think there is a possibility of a new Led Zep album or possible tour with the Foo Fighters down the road, maybe not now, but sometime in the future. All the other fans had different guesses other than the 02 as well. There were others that wanted a new album or a tour, I wasn’t the only one. So I’m all good.

This is still cool though. I like the “Celebration Day” announcement and I would like to see it myself, if Albany would get some screenings but doesn’t look like it. I’ll just wait for the Blu Ray release. All of this mystery was fun. I’m sure the band themselves even had fun watching the fans on trying to guess what the announcement is.

I’m sure we’ll get a statement from Jimmy Page soon, maybe he’ll write to us in the Led Zeppelin facebook account.
