Brock buys three albums from Itunes…

Well, I think it’s official that I will no longer buy CD’s from record stores anymore. I definitely think it’s time that I buy albums from Itunes from this point on. I’m starting to hate having CD’s and it’s definitely much better owning music digitally, in my opinion.

I bought three full albums for my Ipod from Itunes. I bought…

  • Pearl Jam’s “Backspacer”
  • Phoenix – “Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix”
  • Lunic “Love Thief”

I haven’t heard those albums yet, but I will listen to those tomorrow.

I like to buy those Itunes gift cards to collect music with ’cause I don’t have a credit card. I’m sure I’ll like those three albums I got.

Itunes is fucking cool, I like it a lot.

I’ll try to sell my demo CD I made back in 2006 on it if I ever figure out how to sell my own music on there, I’m doing research about it and learning. It’s complicated stuff, but I’ll try to get my own music on Itunes soon, hopefully.

Cool Video: Fast shredding and string skipping on 7 string guitar…

Here’s a guitar player who auditioned for Guitar World’s “Shred the Web II” contest. This guy’s playing impressed me so I had to post it.

Check out that 7 string guitar and the way he moves his hands up and down, and across the fretboard pretty quickly. That 7 string guitar has a very fat fretboard. You think this is easy to do? It takes years and long hard work to get there. You don’t play like this over night that’s for sure.

I’ve been playing for 14 years and still can’t play like this yet.

Enjoy.

Report: Eric Clapton and Jeff Beck to perform a huge show at the O2 Arena in London, Feb. 13th 2010…

Eric Clapton and Jeff Beck, two guitar legends will once again share the stage at the O2 Arena in London, England on Feb. 13th, 2010.

The two guitarists have been best friends for many years as they go waaaayyyyy back in the Yardbird days.

At the O2 show in Feb. Clapton/Beck will both play a set together jamming on stage, and they will both play a separate solo set alone.

More on it here:

Sounds good. Hopefully this gig will be a live recording for a DVD/CD kind of thing.

Report: Pearl Jam’s self released album, “Backspacer” is no. 1 on Billboard Top 200…

Pearl Jam hasn’t had a hit record in years. Now they finally have one. Their new album, which is released without a “label” and unsigned at this time, “Backspacer” makes the Billboard top 200. You can only buy the album at your local Target stores, Itunes, the Pearl Jam website, and independent retailers.

Pearl Jam wasn’t the only rock band that made the Billboard Top 200 without a major label, remember, Radiohead’s “In Rainbows” made it to no. 1 when the album didn’t have a label at the time.

This is Pearl Jam’s first hit album since “No Code”, released in 1996.

Congrats to Pearl Jam. I’m happy to see that they are getting successful again even if they are not with a label.

I guess the Billboard charts is for any musicians and bands to get high on the list whether you are on a major label or not. It all depends on how well your album sells even if you’re not on a major label or an independent label.

Pearl Jam’s last couple of records were self released without a label but they never made the Billboard.

If Pearl Jam and Radiohead can do this, so can you.

Thought: About the Mackenzie Phillips controversy…

So you wonder what my response is on the incest relationship between Mackenzie and her father John Phillips, most famous for being the frontman of the folk rock legendary group, The Mammas and the Pappas.

I see it as Mackenzie Phillips, a crazy and insane whacked out delusional woman that is out for attention. I think she is making it up for attention. A stupid fucked up bitch that is drugged up, and this is what happens when you’re on drugs, you become crazier. I don’t think John Phillips had a fetish with incest romantic relationships with someone in your own family.

If it turns out to be true, then it wouldn’t surprise me….well, look at Mackenzie. She’s fucking ugly as hell. She has a face that only her parents would love anyways.

Besides, I never liked the Mammas and the Pappas. All the band members are pretty crazy and really never liked their music to begin with. Their songs “Monday Monday” and “California Dreamin” are too pop for my tastes.

Edit to add: I just saw her on the Today show this morning in an interview, yep, she’s doing this a way to promote her new book. She’s stupid bitch for making this private business publicily. This wouldn’t make John feel proud. She wouldn’t be doing this if John was still alive.

Report: Kiss, LL Cool J, Chilli Peppers, Genesis, etc. nominated for the Rock Hall of Fame…

New nominations for this year’s “Rock Hall of Fame” in Cleveland, Ohio has been announced this year. This year nominations includes the legends Kiss, LL Cool J, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Genesis, The Hollies, and Laura Nyro.

The Associated Press reports:

http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/article/ALeqM5h26sDU2Ys1-gBdz91XJAUZ-jvO1QD9AT0QUG1

Me thinks, Kiss will get in no matter what. So will the Chilli Peppers and LL Cool J. Genesis will definitely get in.

I don’t know about Laura Nyro though, I don’t even know who that is.

If Genesis finally does get inducted, I wonder if Peter Gabriel will be part of that induction since he was the first frontman of that band before Phil Collins? I’m sure they’ll let Peter be part of this. I don’t see why not?

So you ask, LL Cool J is not rock, he is strictly rap and hip hop, how does he get nominated? I’m willing to bet the song “Mama Said Knock You Out”, is what got him the nomination, that tune is kind of like a rock song.

Report: Chris Sligh, an American Idol loser, writes really good blog to fellow Idols about music industry…

This guy, Chris Sligh, a former Idol, wrote the most intelligent blog about the music industry I’ve ever seen. I totally agree with him on everything, 100%.

Read his blog here:

http://frommymindtoyoureyes.blogspot.com/2009/09/to-idols-realistic-look-at-your-career.html

He’s just giving the Idols a reality check about them thinking they will be a star. Pretty intelligent writing.

I don’t play music ’cause I want fame and fortune, I just play music as a hobby and something I have as a passion. I just play guitar and sing songs just for the love of it, nothing more.

In local music, sorry to say but it’s true, even local musicians would have to get out of their delusions and face reality as well. Most musicians around the Capital District are doing it like if this was a popularity contest, most musicians around this area are obsessed with trying to be established and well known. Not worrying about local fame too much, and concentrating on your music mostly is what’s most important, the way I look at it.

There are too many bands and artists that are obsessed with doing radio interviews, articles with newspapers, etc. That stuff is nice but I never worried about any of that. I just cared about playing my guitar and singing.
