I don’t know why people have so much hatred toward Apple. I have no problem with them at all. One thing I don’t do is that I don’t read reviews on the internet knocking Apple just to get more “clicks” and “views”. I’m seeing a lot of complaints that Apple Music won’t let you own the albums if you like them which is bullshit. Apple DOES let you own the album or a song if you like it enough. You just have to download it from the Icloud for offline listening and then you can do what you want with the album… burn it on CD or sync it to your Ipod, whatever. Last night, I just updated my Itunes on the PC to 12.2 so I can get Apple Music on my PC and it worked fine. My huge Icloud library successfully got on my PC. If I want to listen to an album on my Ipod Touch from Apple Music, I would have to download it for offline listening. Which is pretty cool, in my opinion.
I notice a lot of people are becoming skeptical and a little worried about “streaming” music services but hey what can I say? It’s technology, ya know? Technology grows and evolves, there’s nothing you can do about it. Thanks to Netflix, “streaming music” is now taking over the world with streaming services such as Spotify, Apple, and now we have Tidal.
I dig Apple Music and have no issues with them at all. Like I said the other day, I made my Icloud library very big now. It gives me the opportunity to listen to the entire discographies of certain bands & artists that I like. I can now hear the rest of Joe Satriani’s albums, Dream Theater, Slayer, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, Opeth, etc. I have also added discographies by other bands & artists such as Beth Hart, Sonic Youth, The Pixies, Queensryche, Dire Straits, Kiss, etc. I have also added some pop music like En Vogue, Paula Abdul and Janet Jackson. Some jazz and instrumental guitar like George Benson, Eric Johnson, Allan Holdsworth. I also added a lot of blues like BB King, Eric Clapton, Otis Rush, Buddy Guy, Muddy Waters, etc. A wide variety of music. Maybe sometime today, I’ll take a few screen shots to show you what my library looks like now.
Some of you may scratch your head and ask me, “You listen to pop music”? The truth is, yes. Some of it. Although, I mostly listen to rock and metal, I’ll listen to any type of music as long as it’s good to me.
As I type this blog entry, I’m listening to Beth Hart’s album, “37 Days”. I love Beth Hart’s music… been listening to all of her albums all week. Beth Hart is great and I’d recommend you check her out yourself. Her music is pretty fuckin’ tight and I love her singing.
Yesterday, I listened to Sun Kil Moon’s new album, “Universal Themes” and that’s a really really good record too. I would also recommend you to check out Sun Kil Moon, they play a mix of rock and acoustic folk.
With all this being said, despite all the negative reviews of Apple Music, I think they did a great job. This is only the beginning of Apple Music but I’m sure they’ll improve the service later in the years so they can make everyone happy. I’m sticking with them and will subscribe to them full time. I’ll no longer have to buy music from the Itunes store as much anymore which is gonna be very cool!

Earlier today on Apple Music, I just listened to the Sex Pistols album, “Never Mind the Bollocks” and forgot how amazing this album really is. I used to own this album on physical CD but don’t have it anymore. Either I got rid of it or somebody borrowed it and never gave it back but anyway, it’s a pretty amazing album. It always has been one of my favorite records of all time. This is an important album in music history, though. I’ve always been a big Sex Pistols fan. A shame they only lasted for one album, though.

So I finished listening to all of Opeth’s studio albums and I really enjoyed them all. Such a great band but I think their best album is their newest one that they just put out. Their new album is called, “Pale Communion”. The new album is so different than all their previous albums. In their previous albums, they were mostly heavy metal w/ a lot of death metal growls but “Pale Communion” stayed away from the metal this time. “Pale Communion” was a lot mellower and it was more progressive rock. More melodic and different.
I love all Opeth albums but my top 5 are:
1. Pale Communion
2. Deliverance
3. Damnation
4. Heritage
5. Watershed
Those guys are really good. I would like to get these albums synced to my Ipod Touch but I would have to figure it out somehow. I can’t get Apple Music on my Ipod Touch since I have an older edition so I’ll have to figure out how to sync these albums. I’ll probably have to upgrade my Itunes on the PC to 12.2 so I can get Apple Music on the PC which I will do today.
I’m very impressed and blown away with Apple Music. I don’t understand all the hate. Thanks to Apple Music, I now have a pretty huge library of albums on the Icloud from a lot of bands & artists that I like. Apple Music is awesome. I’m already addicted to it.
I just started getting into Beth Hart. I listened to her in the past before and remember liking her stuff. She’s like today’s version of Janis Joplin. More on her in another post.

So far, I’ve listened to most of Opeth’s albums… all except for their latest release, “Pale Communion” which I will listen to tomorrow. Man, I can’t believe how much I got into this band. Their sound is pretty impressive. I also think Mikael Akerfeldt is a phenomenal guitarist and singer. While most of today’s metal is mostly screaming and growling vocals… this band is more than that. Mikael does some screaming and growling but he can sing regularly too. This band is also more than just headbanding power chords. You’ll hear a mix of classical, jazz and folk music. There’s a lot of acoustic thrown in some of the songs too. That’s part of one reason why I got so addicted to this band ’cause there’s so much different things going on in their music. This band can get pretty heavy at times but they can go mellow a lot. In a lot of their songs they can go from mellow to heavy. Their songs can go from 8:00 min. to 20:00 min. long. This is a really amazing band and I’m glad I finally got into them.
So far my favorite metal bands right now are: Dream Theater, Opeth, Queensryche, At The Gates, Iron Maiden, Sabbath, Megadeth, Slayer, etc. The list goes on.
Opeth is more of a progressive rock band than metal, in my opinion but I guess they’re both the same thing. Opeth is really good stuff to listen to and you should listen to them yourself. Check out the tracks below.

Most of the day I added a whole BUNCH of albums from Apple Music to my library on my Ipad.
I’ve added a bunch of bands & artists such as Opeth, Dream Theater, Joe Satriani, Queensryche, The Scorpions, The Runaways, L7, Phish, The Grateful Dead, Billy Idol, Jeff Beck, George Benson, Django Reindhardt, BB King, The Ramones, Van Halen, Iron Maiden, Bjork, Black Sabbath, Ozzy solo, Metallica, etc. The list goes on and on.
I only listened to one album that I saved from Apple Music which was an older album by Al Di Meola called, “Scenario” which was really good. I love Al Di Meola’s music. I just can’t stop listening to his stuff as well.
I’ve added a whole variety of music as you can see from metal to jazz to blues. I’ve still got some more albums to add which I will do tomorrow. Yeah I think I’ll definitely stick with Apple Music. I won’t mind paying the $9.99 subscription ’cause that’s cheaper than spotify. Of course Apple made the subscription cheaper than spotify… it’s their way of competing against them, I guess.
I just love listening to music. It’s a big part of who I am and like I said, I’m an “album” kind of guy. I’m old-school so I still listen to full albums while most people out there are pretty selective of what songs they wanna hear.
I got into the digital age of music ’cause the CD industry is pretty much dead… just about. I do miss buying physical CD’s, though and sometimes I still do buy CD’s once in a blue moon.
There are still some technical issues with Apple Music but I’m sure they will fix them… a lot of slowdowns and crashing but like I said before it’s new.
Listening to music is what I’m all about… I gotta be around it.

Whenever Apple tries something new, chances are the company is gonna get all kinds of haters no matter what they do. I think what they’re doing is very good and I’m actually pretty impressed with Apple Music. I might even subscribe to that service after all and ditch Spotify. Apple Music costs $9.99 pr. month once the free months are up. Once I subscribe to Apple Music full time, I’ll no longer have to buy music from Itunes which is what they made the streaming service for is so they can help people save money, ya know?
This afternoon, I started adding music that I want to my Itunes library on my Ipad. All the albums that I wanted to hear from Joe Satriani, Opeth, Grateful Dead, Dream Theater, Joe Bonamassa, BB King, etc. to the “My Music” section on my Ipad so I can listen offline. I’ll also be able to listen to all the Led Zeppelin Deluxe albums ’cause they’re all on there too.
How would I get these albums on my Ipod Touch, the 4th generation? I got the 4th Generation Ipod Touch, the 6.1.6 version so I can’t get Apple Music on there. If I wanted Apple Music on my Ipod Touch, I would have to buy the latest edition of the Ipod Touch which I will sometime in the future. I’m sure there’s a way to get these albums from Apple Music on my Ipod Touch, I’ll figure it out. I like to have albums on my Ipod Touch ’cause I like to listen to music while working out at the gym or listen to music while running and doing my cardio.
So far, I have no problem with Apple Music and don’t see why it’s getting hated on? The sound quality is pretty good and still the same. The only issues are that the Apple Music when browsing for artists, it’ll start to slow down and crash but keep in mind, the service is new so there’s gonna be a lot of technical issues which I’m sure they will fix soon.
I wish I thought of this before I bought those 5 albums from the Itunes store today. Maybe I should send those back and get my refund?
Yeah, I definitely might go with Apple Music instead of Spotify.

I don’t know about you but Bob Weir is one HELL of a singer and guitar player. Oh wow. Even though Jerry Garcia originally sung the lead vocals on this song, Bob still did really well. I love Bob’s guitar playing style. If you watch Bob play rhythm guitar and watch what he’s doing… he does more than just playing open chords. His fretting hand is always up and down the neck. I’m pretty sure Bob is playing a lot of chord inversions. He knows the map of the fretboard. Once you’ve mastered the map of the fretboard, you’ll be able to play chords everywhere. Really, watch the way Bob plays, he moves his fretting hand all over the place. I would like to learn how to play rhythm guitar like that.

Here’s one of my favorite tunes by the Dead. Awesome jam too! These guys are on fire, all of them! Makes me wish I went to the show.

I’ve been wanting to get into Swedish metal band, Opeth for a long while. Just started listening to them in Spotify this week. So far I listened to their albums, “Orchid”, “Deliverance” and “Ghost Reveries”. Right now, I’m listening to their album, “Watershed” as I type this. I think Opeth is a new addiction for me. Their music really is great stuff and I’m glad I finally gotten into them.
I wanna start buying all their albums from Itunes soon but once I finish collecting the rest of Dream Theater’s and Joe Satriani’s albums, I’ll start collecting Opeth’s albums. I really admire and love Opeth’s music ’cause they’re really unique and different. They do a lot more than just play heavy guitars and screaming vocals. They do all kinds of genres. They also switch back and forth from growling vocals to singing regularly. Opeth goes from heavy to mellow.
Opeth is a fun band to listen to and I would suggest you to listen to them yourself.
