Damn. Another hero of mine just passed away… Adam West mostly famous as the original Batman and also famous for voicing himself as Mayor West in “Family Guy” TV show.

When I was a kid, I was obsessed with the original Batman TV series. Even though the show only lasted for three seasons, it was still a great show. Some people thought Adam West played the worst Batman ever but I never thought so. Adam was a great actor back then and he killed the Bruce Wayne/Batman role. I guess, comic fans in this day and age just don’t understand how Batman was back in the 60’s. “Batman: The Movie” and the TV series were trying to stay true to the comics in the 60’s ’cause the comics in the 60’s of Batman were in that style. Keep in mind, the Dark Knight didn’t exist yet back in those days.

Love Adam West or hate him, he was the one who helped make the superhero genre get mainstream. Without Adam West then DC and Marvel wouldn’t have gotten to where they are right now. We all have gotten into comics and superheroes ’cause of him, admit it right?

Really, the original Batman TV series and the movie, “Batman: The Movie” (which is streamable for Netflix, btw, just the movie not the TV show) was really good stuff. I thought Adam West was a great actor and he had a really good speaking voice too. Was perfect for Batman, I thought. Adam was the whole reason I love Batman. My love for the Batman character started since then.

Without Adam West then all of these other Batman movies wouldn’t have happened. If there was no Adam West, we wouldn’t have gotten Michael Keaton playing the character years later. If you call yourself a Batman fan but don’t like Adam West playing the character then you’re no true Batman fan. Sorry.
