It was announced last night that “Ghostbusters” director, Ivan Reitman has passed on. It’s kind of a real bummer ’cause I’m a huge Ghostbusters fan. I definitely loved the first and original “Ghostbusters” movie. It’s a classic for sure and an important film in Hollywood.
It was Dan Aykroyd that created the Ghostbusters story. He wrote the script with Harold Ramis and they got Ivan Reitman to produce/direct it. Well Ivan was the best choice really ’cause he made the first and original “Ghostbusters” an excellent film. He was able to make it really funny and scary at the same time, a true comedy/horror kind of movie. I did like the second “Ghosbusters” movie believe it or not even though it had some problems but nothing will ever top the first movie.
Anyway, Ivan was definitely a great director ’cause he made other iconic movies like “Twins” and “Kindergarten Cop”. He was also behind “Stripes”, “Animal House”, “Six Days Seven Nights”, “Space Jam” and “Beethoven”.
Ivan mostly directed family comedies but he was so good at that genre, though.
The beginning of 2022 took another good one.
RIP Ivan Reitman and thanks for the entertainment over the years that meant to so much people. Thankfully Ivan was able to finish “Ghostbusters: Afterlife” with his son. I haven’t seen that one yet but gonna buy the bluray to that movie real soon.
Yes, pretty much the whole gang of the Ghostbusters cast are coming back for Jason Reitman’s “Ghostbusters III”. Yes, Sigourney Weaver is coming back as Dana Barrett, Bill Murray coming back as Dr. Peter Venkman, Dan Aykroyd coming back as Dr. Ray Stantz and Ernie Hudson coming back as Winston Zeddemore.
Only Ghostbuster that can’t return is obviously Harold Ramis who was Dr. Egon Spengler and Harold passed away in 2014. I’m glad “GIII” is finally moving forward but it still won’t be the same without Egon, though.
Now I’m wondering if Annie Potts will return as the Ghostbusters secretary Janine and wonder if Rick Moranis would come out of acting retirement to reprise his role as Louis Tully. I can see Annie coming back maybe but Rick? We’ll have to wait and see on that one. It would be awesome if Louis Tully did come back ’cause that character was what helped make the first two Ghostbusters movie entertaining.
I didn’t see the all-female reboot directed by Paul Feig and I don’t plan on seeing that film at all. I haven’t even touched it and still haven’t seen it. Don’t want to.
Now that we have a more appropriate Ghostbusters movie in the works, I’ll probably see “Ghostbusters III” if the trailers look good enough.
I’m a huge Ghostbusters fan. Have been all my life. The first one and the original was one of my all-time favorite movies. The second one was pretty good but the writing could have been better.
I wonder what the plot for “Ghostbusters III” is gonna be about? It’s probably gonna be the same plot Dan Aykroyd has been talking about for years… a passing of the torch kind of story. It’s probably gonna be about Ray, Peter and Winston teaching up and coming recruits on how to be a Ghostbuster. I’m sure we’ll see Slimer back and I’m sure we’ll see Staypuff back, but I’m sure the film will have new ghosts and new villains.
I’m hoping Jason don’t disappoint with this film. I’m sure he’s getting a lot of help and advice from his father, Ivan Reitman.
Some of you may say that Ghostbusters shouldn’t continue without Harold but this is a new movie franchise and series. It’s probably gonna continue on and on kind of like James Bond, Star Wars and Star Trek. Ghostbusters is definitely a franchise along those lines.
Even though Sony is continuing on without Harold, I’m sure the film will give Harold a tribute in some way. I bet Egon’s ghost will make a cameo appearance if anything. That will probably happen.
Well this is interesting. Dan Aykroyd slams “Ghostbusters” director Paul Feig in a British TV interview and Aykroyd claims that Paul Feig spent way too much money on the re-shoot. Aykroyd claims that Paul Feig spent around $30 – $40 million in re-shoots but Sony studios were quick to reply and said that Dan is full of it. Sony said Paul spent about $3 to $4 million.
So since Dan wants to go on to claim Paul spent too much money, Dan fired Paul on the spot and said Paul will not be directing the sequel. For that reason, the 4 women won’t be coming back either.
Somehow I believe Dan isn’t being completely honest. I think he’s secretly upset at Paul ’cause the movie bombed in the box office and maybe Dan is upset of all that Milo controversy about Leslie Jones.
Before the movie got made, Dan seems really excited and thrilled about the movie. He was all for Paul Feig directing 100% and now Dan seems to have turned on Paul all of a sudden. Weird. Ah well, that’s Hollywood, I guess. You can’t trust anyone. Got to deal with big egos and betrayals. Things like that.
I’m sure Sony are gonna try to make another “Ghostbusters” reboot. They will probably give it a try but I wouldn’t be surprised if they try it with male recruits next time.
Still haven’t seen the all-female “Ghostbusters” yet and don’t think I care to. Not interested.
The popular Breitbart writer, MIlo Yiannopoulos has just been banned on twitter for whatever reason. Why? It has been alleged that Milo has been harassing Ghostbusters actress, Leslie Jones.
I’ve been following Milo’s twitter for a long time and I can’t recall any tweets from Milo bashing Leslie Jones at all. The only bashing he did toward Leslie was his review of “Ghostbusters” in the link below where he criticized her bad acting and made fun of her weight a little bit.
Yeah, so Milo trashed her acting and her weight. So what? Big freakin’ deal. That’s what a movie review is supposed to do, “criticize” and bash the things you don’t like. Get the fuck over it, you bunch of crybabies.
Milo himself says in the interview video below that he was banned off of twitter ’cause Leslie didn’t like his review. I totally agree. It’s like, duh? Sounded like she didn’t appreciate him trashing her acting skills and her weight.
I read Milo’s “Ghostbusters” review. I read the whole thing and I didn’t see anything wrong with it, really. Sure, he trashed the women in the movie but once again, that’s what a movie review is supposed to be.
Milo’s fans went over to Leslie’s twitter account and trashed the hell out of her, it wasn’t Milo. That is what prompt twitter to ban Milo permanently.
I see no reason at all for twitter to ban Milo. Sure, he may have insulted her and made fun of her in a review but it was on a Breitbart site, not on twitter so what the fuck?
I think the only reason twitter banned him ’cause they found he is a gay conservative. Yes, that’s right, he’s a “conservative” and he’s gay. This is just a lousy attempt at the media destroying the guy ’cause they’ve never seen a gay conservative before. It may not seem like it but yes, there are gay conservatives out there. Lots of ’em. They do exist. Homosexuality is not just for liberalism, remember that. We all know how liberal both twitter & facebook really are.
I thought his permanent suspension was unfair. Oh well, who needs twitter, he’s still on facebook and he’s still in youtube.
I thought liberals were champions for gay rights? Leslie Jones is on her twitter page saying hateful and racist things about white people… sure enough, she gets a free pass and everybody sides with her.
For this reason alone, I have decided that I’m gonna avoid the “Ghostbusters” movie like the plague. I used to be interested in it but not anymore. I’m boycotting the new film and won’t even see it when it comes out for rental.
Milo has the right to say what he wants ’cause that’s what a movie review is supposed to do. Hell, I even write movie reviews myself and you all know that.
These days more and more people have been giving their opinions on movies before it even comes out. Why has that been happening lately? I totally blame the internet for that for sure. These days social networking like facebook and twitter has been ruining the enjoyment of movies. Also movie critic websites like Ain’t It Cool News, CominSoon, The Hollywood Reporter and many others. Too many have been releasing too many movie scoops like releasing photos from the movies, revealing movie posters too early and things like that. That’s been happening a lot in the age of the internet which drives people into making an opinion before a movie comes out. I wish people would stop previewing what the movie is like before it comes out and maybe that would help stop judging the movie before it comes out but whatever.
I’ve always learned that it’s a pretty bad idea to negatively judge a film before it comes out. I always see the film first and then I make my opinion. What’s wrong with people when they review films before they even come out? I would never do that.
With that being said, I’m still willing to give the all-female “Ghostbusters” movie a chance. I’m gonna see it this weekend hopefully. Who knows, maybe I’ll even like it myself and maybe it won’t be all that bad?
I never listen to movie critics. That’s the last thing you want to do. Always go by your own opinion and not worry about what everyone else thinks.
So a new “Ghostbusters” trailer is coming directed by Paul Feig and starring 4 females. When the trailer comes out, you can betcha the trailer will probably break the “internets”. Paul Feig has been showing us a lot of stuff from the film but finally, he’s gonna show us a trailer real soon. Most people have been shitting on the film for a long while now even if they haven’t seen the movie but you know all the haters will see the trailer anyways when it comes out.
I’m definitely gonna check out the trailer myself as I’m looking forward to it. Despite all the negative criticism this film is getting, this film is intriguing me. Yeah, I find it interesting so far and I think the movie will be good. Once the film itself actually comes out, I think more people will actually like it and will have a change of heart with it. Give it time. Even though people are hating on this movie, I think everybody will go see it anyways out of curiosity. People are predicting that this film is gonna bomb but I disagree. I think this film could end up being bigger than “Deadpool” or “The Force Awakens”.
How?
Keep in mind that when the first two “Ghostbusters” came out, not a lot of people today know about those movies. There’s a whole new younger generation who has never seen the two originals. This film is aiming to attract a new audience and a younger fanbase. The film can also be for the die-hards for those who loved the first two films. The new “Ghostbusters” is probably gonna turn out to be a box office smash and break records, sorry to say.
I think the new “Ghostbusters” will turn out enjoyable and fun. Give it time.
I’ve always learned never to be critical about a movie you haven’t seen yet. I’ve never bashed something I haven’t seen yet. I just wait to see the actual film itself and then I make my honest opinion. I think people trashing a movie they haven’t seen is pretty lame and that’s the problem we’re having these days. People maybe skeptical now but if you see the actual film itself, you may actually enjoy it.
I’m looking forward to checking out the new “Ghostbusters” trailer soon.
Paul Feig’s all-female “Ghostbusters” won’t be getting released until July of 2016. Before then, you can expect the “Ghostbusters” marketing to get pretty heavy. The new Ghostbusters will be on most food products that you will see in the grocery store including juice boxes, cereal boxes and all that stuff.
Well, Coca-cola maybe bringing back the old Ecto Cooler which I think I used to drink when I was young back in the day.
Since the Slimer drink could be making a comeback that’s a pretty good indication that the character Slimer will indeed return to the new “Ghostbusters” film.
Whatever it takes to get people interested in this film, I guess. That’s probably the only reason this drink might be making a comeback since this film is getting so much negative criticism.
Marketing will get heavy for this film around the Spring & Summer time in 2016 so be ready, y’all. Marketing is always heavy each time a new “Ghostbusters” film is out.
After seeing the movie, “Bridesmaids” with Melissa McCarthy and Kristen Wiig in it… I am now kind of skeptical of the new “Ghostbusters” movie like everyone else. I can now understand where they’re coming from. The thing that Paul Feig and the cast can’t understand is that none of us want the “Ghostbusters” movies to turn into chick flicks. All the criticism really has nothing to do with women. We have nothing against women at all. We just don’t want our fictional heroes that we grew up on to change, ya know? That’s what we’re all complaining about. We just want “Ghostbusters” to stay as the original four and they are: Bill, Dan, Ernie and Harold. They are the “Ghostbusters” and not anybody else. That’s what Paul Feig and crew can’t seem to understand.
Harold Ramis is dead now so there’s no possible way for him to back as Egon. Since Harold died, the new Ghostbusters movie should have died with him, ya know?
Yeah, I saw the movie, “Bridesmaids” last week for the first time and I hated the movie. I also saw the movie, “The Heat” also directed by Paul Feig and starring Melissa McCarthy… didn’t really care for that one either.
So I guess I’ll have to say that I agree with everyone that the new “Ghostbusters” shouldn’t happen and I smell a box office flop up ahead. Kudos to Rick Moranis for having the balls to say “no”.
The new “Ghostbusters” will probably end up being a rental for me but I’ll still see the trailer when it comes out though.
To Paul Feig and the rest of the cast & crew… we’re not coming after ya… it’s called “criticism”. That’s something that you’re gonna have to deal with and it’s the name of the game of the movie business. Calling out your “critics” or “haters” is gonna drive people away from your movie even more.
Rick Moranis wants to clarify to all of his fans that he’s not retired from Hollywood. He’s just very very picky of the projects he chooses. While he did take a long break from starring in big screen movies, he’s still worked in Hollywood sometimes like he did voice over work for a few animated films but that’s about all.
Paul Feig did try to get Rick to come back but Paul failed. Rick said no he wouldn’t do it and said it wouldn’t make sense.
Will we ever see Rick Moranis back on the big screen again? Keep in mind, Mel Brooks is developing a sequel to “Spaceballs” so maybe we’ll see the return of Dark Helmet. Now that would be cool. I hope we see Rick back on the big screen in a live action movie ’cause I’m a fan of his earlier work especially with “Ghostbusters”, “Little Shop of Horrors”, “Honey I Shrunk the Kids”, “My Blue Heaven”, “Parenthood” and “Brewster’s Millions”. Rick is a great actor and talented. Hope we see him back on the big screen soon.
I haven’t seen too many movies with Melissa McCarthy over the years except the only one I’ve seen with her in it are the two Charlie’s Angels films that she appeared in and “Identity Thief” (which was pretty good actually). I’ve never seen “Bridesmaids”, “The Heat”, “Tammy” or “Spy” yet but I’m gonna check those movies out as I have them on Netflix DVD rental Que.
Before I watch the new “Ghostbusters”, I figure it’s a good idea to watch all the Melissa McCarthy & Paul Feig films: “Bridesmaids”, “The Heat” and “Spy” so I can get an idea of what the new “Ghostbusters” film is gonna be like.
I should get an idea of what Paul Feig’s filming style is like before I watch the new “Ghostbusters” and I want to see how he works with Melissa McCarthy. So after I see their three films, I’ll review my thoughts.
I suggest everyone to do the same before slamming the new “Ghostbusters”, ya know? You might see how well they work together. I’m gonna watch “Bridesmaids”, “The Heat” and “Spy” so I can see why Sony wanted Paul Feig to direct the new Ghostbusters.
Those picking on Paul Feig for directing the new “Ghostbusters” probably never seen his previous films. I stand with Paul Feig on “Ghostbusters” and I have total faith in him now. I think he’s gonna make a great “Ghostbusters” film and I think he will make fans happy. People maybe skeptical now but give it time, I predict people will end up loving it once the actual movie comes out. I’m looking forward to it.
