Lets see if Disney can make a good George Lucas-less “Indiana Jones” movie…

Since Disney was successful at making a good George Lucas-less “Star Wars” movie (George Lucas-less, meaning that Lucas had zero involvement), lets see if they can handle making a George Lucas-less “Indiana Jones” movie. Harrison Ford and Steven Spielberg both expressed interest in returning and Spielberg wants to direct again. However though, now that Disney obviously owns Lucasfilm this means that Lucas will no longer be involved in the Indiana Jones franchise either. It’s a well-known fact that while George didn’t have anything to do with the direction, production and screenwriting of the Indiana Jones trilogy – Lucas still was involved in creating the story. Lucas was still in charge. Now that he’s no longer in charge of the Indy franchise, that means more creative freedom for the writers and more creative freedom for Spielberg/Ford. So I’m so glad that Lucas is no longer involved in the Indy franchise.

Could Disney do a good job with the Indy franchise? Could they make a good Indiana Jones movie again since “Kingdom of the Crystal Skull” got so many negative reviews?

Yes, I definitely think it’s possible that the Indy franchise can step their game up again. I don’t think they’ll make another mistake like “Crystal Skull” again ’cause I’m sure they’ve learned their lessons.

They need to focus on less CGI and hopefully they don’t bring the sci-fi back either. They need to make the next Indy movie similar to Raiders, the first one which was a classic movie. They need to focus on archeology and history like they were intended to be. I’m not saying get rid of the action scenes ’cause action scenes is what the Indy movies were all about to begin with but they need to make the next Indy film more serious. Not make it a popcorn flick like “Crystal Skull” was, ya know? That’s the kind of Indy movie we all wanna see.

I’m a really big Indiana Jones fan but “Raiders” will always be the best film. I don’t think anything can top that movie no matter how many Indy films they try to make. “Temple of Doom” was a really great film too, though. Lets hope and pray that Spielberg doesn’t mess up the next Indy film at all.

I may have been wrong that Luke could have possibly been Kylo Ren but it was a good guess though and it was close enough. Even though Luke didn’t turn to the dark side yet, there is still a possible chance that could happen in Episode 8 & 9. Remember, Mark Hamill said in the past he wanted to turn Luke to the Dark Side. He pitched that idea to George once but of course, George wouldn’t go for it. George wanted Luke to be the hero but could the new Star Wars movies turn Luke into a bad guy in the future, though?

http://www.cinemablend.com/new/Mark-Hamill-Actually-Pitched-An-Evil-Luke-Skywalker-Idea-J-J-Abrams-89617.html

I’m thinking the main plot idea for Episode 8 which will be directed by Rian Johnson, the story will be that Master Luke will train Rey (Daisy Ridley) to become a future Jedi knight. For now, they are looking at Master Luke to be the new Obi-Wan until something happens to Luke that made him turn to the Dark Side. I think something will happen to Luke in the new trilogy that will make him turn evil. Which will be an interesting idea if you think about it ’cause Mark Hamill is a phenomenal actor and he can always play a good badguy.

At the end of “The Force Awakens” when Rey walked up the steps and handed Luke the lightsaber, you immediately know what’s gonna happen in Episode 8. That’s my immediate thought that Luke is gonna train Rey to become a Jedi in the next one. I think that’s pretty obvious, I would say. That’s the idea of the new trilogy, the old cast passing the torch to a whole new cast.

Even though Han Solo maybe gone now, still though, not too worry fans. I still wouldn’t rule out a Han Solo appearance by Harrison Ford for the next two films. Could Han turn into a force ghost possibly? Some would mistakenly think that only Jedi’s are able to turn into a force ghost after their death but not really. If you do a little digging, there have been other Star Wars characters that have died who weren’t Jedi’s but later turned into a force ghost. That could happen to Han.

I was right about the Han Solo death ’cause that one didn’t surprise me at all ’cause I was predicting it for a long time now. The Han Solo death scene was a good scene, though.

Film Review: “Star Wars: The Force Awakens”

Starring: Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac

Directed by JJ Abrams

So I finally saw, “The Force Awakens” and here is my review!

Plot/synopsis: Three decades after the defeat of the Galactic Empire, a new threat arises. The First Order attempts to rule the galaxy and only a rag-tag group of heroes can stop them, along with the help of the Resistance.

A lot of people are calling this movie a remake or a homage to “Star Wars IV: A New Hope” (aka the first Star Wars movie) but I didn’t think it was. Sure both movies were kind of similar but most of “The Force Awakens” was pretty original from what I saw.

I always had faith in JJ that he’s gonna make a great Star Wars movie and he did just that. Everything about it was perfect. It felt like a Star Wars movie all the way. It’s something that George Lucas would have wanted for sure. JJ really knew what he was doing ’cause he himself is a Star Wars geek like the rest of us. Finally we have a great Star Wars movie and it was the best one of the whole series so far. All the action scenes were a blast to watch as expected. I was pretty much happy with everything in the movie. The writing was great. The musical score was great. Plus the acting of the cast was great too.

I loved the new cast. John Boyega is a pretty good actor. I loved Oscar Isaac’s role even though he wasn’t in it much. Oh man, I absolutely LOVE Daisy Ridley as I thought she was cute and gorgeous as hell! She’s one of the best female characters in Star Wars, in my opinion. I thought Domnhall Gleeson as General Hux was badass and so was Gwendoline Christie as Cpt. Phasma. I also loved Max Von Sydow’s role even though his appearance was kind of short. I thought Carrie Fisher did a brilliant job playing Leia again even though she hasn’t played that role in many years. She still kills it! It was great to see Carrie back on the big screen in a huge way!

I was happy with all of “The Force Awakens” except the only thing I wasn’t happy about is that we got very little of Luke. His role was like a few second cameo and he didn’t really say any lines but I’m sure we’ll get a LOT MORE Luke in Episode VIII. I think there’s a good chance that Luke will be the leading role in Episode VIII ’cause Luke’s appearance in “The Force Awakens” was just a re-introduction of the character, that’s all it was. We didn’t see Luke in action at all in this movie but definitely the next film we’ll see him swinging the lightsaber again.

What I was most impressed with the movie was the sound effects. The sound was pretty crazy. Especially when Kylo Ren takes out his lightsaber and the lightsaber sound is pretty loud in this movie. I expect “The Force Awakens” to win an Oscar for Best Sounds for sure.

As far as storylines go, I don’t wanna talk about so I don’t post any spoilers but as far Han Solo goes, that one didn’t surprise me ’cause I was predicting it a long while back. See? I toldjaso!

“The Force Awakens” was amazing. It’s definitely the best Star Wars movie so far but not so fast, folks! This is only the beginning of a new trilogy so there’s two more. Maybe VIII or IX will be better than VII. Who knows?

Score for “Star Wars: The Force Awakens”: 5 out of 5 as in “Excellent”

Happy “The Force Awakens” release day…

Yes, so “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” is finally here!

Will I see it today or later tonight? Nah. I just bought tickets to see it this coming Sunday afternoon so I can try to avoid the large crowds. There’s probably gonna still be large crowds even on a Sunday but hopefully not. While I love going to the movies, I don’t like going into the theaters that is full of people. That’s why I mostly go to the movies during the day ’cause it’s not as packed and not as noisy. I like watching movies in the peace and quiet.

I’ll be seeing this film for the BTX screening and will be seeing it in 3D. BTX screening meaning that the movie screen is huge and bigger sound system too.

I’m looking forward to the movie, though. Can’t wait.

Harrison Ford says he enjoyed watching “The Force Awakens” early screening…

I’m pretty sure Harrison never watched himself in the original Star Wars trilogy when they first came out in theater but Harrison said he saw an early screening of “The Force Awakens” and said that he loved it. When Harrison said he loves it, I think he really meant it not because he’s in it. Of course, you would think that actors would love their own movies that they star in but not always. If Harrison says it’s good then it probably is good. He wouldn’t have done the movie at all if he knew it wasn’t good.

Even though he saw “The Force Awakens” first before the rest of us, he won’t say whether or not Han Solo and Leia are married (I’m sure they are).

It’s also nice to hear that Harrison is still interested in playing Indiana Jones again even though he didn’t confirm the role yet.

There’s a lot of people in social networking criticizing Harrison and they are saying stuff about Harrison getting onto to this movie for the money. Well, if you listen to Harrison toward the end of the interview when talking about Indiana Jones, Harrison made it perfectly clear that he’s not about the money. He was never about the money when making movies ’cause he’s probably in it for the passion, ya know? Acting is what he loves doing. He’s made plenty of movies over the years where he didn’t get paid much and made movies that bombed in the box office so there’s proof that he’s not about the money at all. Once again, acting is his passion and it’s what he loves to do.

Only thing though, Harrison is talking like that Han Solo might get killed off, you can see it in his eyes that something might happen to Solo. He tried to get George Lucas to kill Han Solo off in “Return of the Jedi” but they might be using that idea for “The Force Awakens”. Will Han Solo die in “The Force Awakens”? We’ll have to wait and see. The internet better not spoil the movie for all of us if he does die, though ’cause I’m feeling those spoilers will be all over the place. *sigh*

Princess Leia of “The Force Awakens” is my favorite character poster out of them all!

If you seen the recent photos of Carrie Fisher lately, you can see that she is aging. Carrie Fisher looks nothing like the young Princess Leia from the original trilogy. I’ll have to say that the film makers did one helluva job making Carrie look like Princess Leia again which I’m pretty sure was a big challenge for them to do due to her aging and gaining a little weight over the years. I bet it took them hours to make her look like Princess Leia again. It probably took them a lot of makeup and hairstylist work for sure in order to get her look right. Carrie’s look changed over the years as she got older but she now looks like Leia again as she did in the original trilogy.

I’m sure Carrie still has the acting chops too and I’m sure she can still play the Leia role well. She hasn’t played the role in many many years so I’m sure she had to practice her lines a lot to get the character right again. Carrie doesn’t work in Hollywood that much. She was just a co-star and did cameos in many other movies over the years so I’m sure she’s not used to playing in huge roles like this. Leia maybe older in “The Force Awakens” but I’m sure she’ll still be the same Leia from the original trilogy.

Oh yeah, some people are still wondering why there’s no Luke in the new character posters. Well, I still believe Luke is none other than Kyle Ren ’cause there’s plenty of rumors that Luke went to the dark side. Even Mark said that he pitched the idea to George Lucas that Luke should go to the dark side a long time ago but it looks like George wouldn’t go for the idea and it’s looking like JJ Abrams took the idea himself. Yep, I believe Luke Skywalker is Kylo Ren. So when people claim that Luke is missing from the posters and trailers… he wasn’t missing at all ’cause he was Kylo Ren after all this time. I’m betting your money on it, folks.

Disney is never replacing Harrison Ford as Indy… which is good news actually…

The producer of the Indy franchise Frank Marshall confirms that Harrison Ford is never getting replaced in future Indy films by Disney. Frank says they aren’t doing the James Bond thing where they replace Bond for every 3 or 4 films or so. They’re keeping Harrison as Indiana Jones. He is irreplaceable for sure.

http://www.denofgeek.com/movies/indiana-jones-5/37494/indiana-jones-5-recasting-indy-ruled-out#ixzz3pei8zO2S

Indy will probably be a continuing franchise but if Harrison one day passes away (not saying it’ll happen but we’re all gonna go at some point, right?) or no longer wants to do it, they’ll figure out a way to have a leading star and not name this character Indiana Jones. Like Harrison as Indy can pass the whip and the hat to someone else which is what Indy 5 is probably gonna be about.

This is a smart move ’cause Harrison is Indy and no one else.

When they make the next Indy film, I just hope they don’t make it a CGI fest and popcorn film like “Kingdom of the Crystal Skull”. They should make the next Indy film kind of like “Raiders” ’cause “Raiders” was obviously the best Indy film, in my opinion. “Raiders” was a masterpiece and classic for sure. I am a huge Indiana Jones fan and I hope they make the next one really good ’cause I’ll admit that “Crystal Skull” was slightly disappointing. Lets hope they don’t bring the sci-fi back.

Why are people so surprised of all the secrecy in JJ’s “SW: The Force Awakens”, I’m not surprise at all…

I’m seeing  a lot of Star Wars fans how they are so impressed with all the secrecy in the Star Wars trailers on how they didn’t reveal much of anything. Why are you surprised? I’m not at all.

I’ve seen most of JJ’s work over the years including the TV show “LOST”. I’ve also seen all of JJ’s films that he’s directed and produced over the years. All the movies that he’s directed or produced, anything that JJ is involved, you can expect a lot of secrecy before the movie comes out. Why? He has always been a pretty secretive guy with all of his movies everything from “Super 8”, “MI: III”, the two Star Trek films, “Cloverfield”, etc.

He just never liked to reveal a lot before the movie comes out. He’s the same way with all of his TV shows too. This is how he has always been.

Which is great that he does this ’cause most film makers in Hollywood reveal a bit too much before the film comes out these days.

There are only very few directors these days who are secretive on his movies… those guys are JJ Abrams and Christopher Nolan. Chris Nolan is also full of secrecy with his movies as well. Steven Spielberg is another one.

Yeah, I too hate movie trailers that show the whole movie but JJ does a great job of not doing that. He’s the best at making movie trailers for sure, he always has been.

If you’re planning to see “The Force Awakens” on opening day or opening weekend, better order your tickets now ’cause all the theaters will probably be sold out quick. It’s gonna be a big movie and the theaters will be packed for sure so get ready for the long lines if you think you can handle it.

Will I see it opening weekend? I’m not sure yet. I think it’s better for me to see it sometime after Christmas and wait for the crowds to calm down. I don’t really enjoy going to the movie theater that is full of people. That’s why I prefer going during the day when there’s not a lot of people. I like watching movies when there’s not a lot of noise.

Kev

Now that you think about it Luke Skywalker maybe on the new “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” poster after all…

StarWarsposter2

The new trailer for “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” just got put online right after it aired on “Monday Night Football” and yes I watched it on ESPN too.

The more I watch the trailers and see the poster, the more I think… did Luke join the dark side? Is Luke none other than Kylo Ren? I mean, think about it, right. You see Kylo Ren kneeling next to R2D2 and see a robotic hand touching R2 which gotta be Luke’s robotic hand so that’s a big clue that he maybe Kylo Ren the film’s main villain.

You see Princess Leia in the trailer. She still looks the same as she did in the original trilogy, she just looks older but Leia still looks gorgeous, though!

Oh man, what a great trailer. I can’t wait for the film. Bring it on!

Kev

It’s looking like that “The Force Awakens” plot will be about a missing Luke Skywalker after all…

For a long time now there has been rumors that the plot for Star Wars 7 is gonna be about a missing Luke Skywalker. The plot is gonna be that Han Solo, Chewie and the two droids were sent out to find him. They were possibly sent out by none other than Princess Leia? Leia knows that Luke is missing and they want Han and them to go find him. It’s looking like that plot is coming to a reality ’cause Luke wasn’t seen in the first two trailers but his voice over was heard in the second trailer. Will we finally get to see Luke in the third trailer tomorrow night? Even though I hate NFL football, I’m gonna have to watch… just to see the new trailer. They’re probably gonna show Luke in the next trailer but very briefly.

Luke is gonna be looking like this:

That’s an actual leaked behind the scenes photo of Mark Hamill on set.

Luke is not gonna get killed off in the “Force Awakens” at all ’cause Mark is already filming scenes for “Episode 8” so he’s definitely coming back for 8 and possibly 9.

If there’s any major character that is gonna get killed off in the next one is probably gonna end up being Han Solo. Han sacrifices himself to save Luke’s life is probably what’s gonna happen.

Luke will probably have a very small role in “The Force Awakens” ’cause we won’t see him ’til the very end, that’s just my prediction. Sounds like Luke has been missing for years ever since the events of “Return of the Jedi”. Leia misses her brother and she begs Han to go find him. So Han gets Chewie and the droids, they reunite with the Millennium Falcon.

I am gonna watch Monday Night Football but just for the trailer alone and then I’ll probably switch the channel after ’cause I’m not a big football fan anymore.

I’m so looking forward to the “Force Awakens” like most. Get ready for a box office hit, y’all. This one should break box office records so get ready for the really long lines on opening day. I don’t think I’m gonna see it on opening day, though… I’m gonna wait a couple of days until the crowds calm down and then I’ll see it. This movie WILL pack up the theaters for sure.
