Indiana Jones 5 officially happen, Harrison Ford and Steven Spielberg to return but no George Lucas!

Disney finally made it official today that “Indiana Jones 5” is absolutely happening! Best of all, Harrison Ford is reprising his role as Indy and Steven Spielberg will be returning to the director’s chair for Indiana Jones. The film is slated for a release date of July 19th, 2019.

This is great news ’cause I’m a really big Indiana Jones fan. It’s good timing to start making Indy 5 now ’cause Harrison Ford is not get any younger. The man is 73 right now and I think he definitely has one more Indy film left in him. Star Wars Episode 7 “The Force Awakens” will probably be the final time that Harrison will play Han Solo. This will probably be the final time that Harrison will play Indy.

Will Indy 5 end up being an action movie? Probably. Harrison seems to do action movies quite well so why not?

Now that George Lucas is no longer involved, that means more creative freedom for Ford and Spielberg so it’ll be interesting to see what they’ll come up with now that George is no longer in charge of the creative writing process.

One thing for sure, though, I hope they don’t bring Shia Labeouf back ’cause I thought Indy and Marion having a kid together was a pretty dumb idea. They probably will end up bringing Shia back but hopefully just for a small role.

If they want fans to take the next movie seriously then I’d suggest make the next movie more like “Raiders”. Something similar, ya know? We don’t need another “Crystal Skull”. I do like “Crystal Skull” but I’ll have to agree that the film had some problems. Hope they don’t let us down next time.

Lets see if Disney can make a good George Lucas-less “Indiana Jones” movie…

Since Disney was successful at making a good George Lucas-less “Star Wars” movie (George Lucas-less, meaning that Lucas had zero involvement), lets see if they can handle making a George Lucas-less “Indiana Jones” movie. Harrison Ford and Steven Spielberg both expressed interest in returning and Spielberg wants to direct again. However though, now that Disney obviously owns Lucasfilm this means that Lucas will no longer be involved in the Indiana Jones franchise either. It’s a well-known fact that while George didn’t have anything to do with the direction, production and screenwriting of the Indiana Jones trilogy – Lucas still was involved in creating the story. Lucas was still in charge. Now that he’s no longer in charge of the Indy franchise, that means more creative freedom for the writers and more creative freedom for Spielberg/Ford. So I’m so glad that Lucas is no longer involved in the Indy franchise.

Could Disney do a good job with the Indy franchise? Could they make a good Indiana Jones movie again since “Kingdom of the Crystal Skull” got so many negative reviews?

Yes, I definitely think it’s possible that the Indy franchise can step their game up again. I don’t think they’ll make another mistake like “Crystal Skull” again ’cause I’m sure they’ve learned their lessons.

They need to focus on less CGI and hopefully they don’t bring the sci-fi back either. They need to make the next Indy movie similar to Raiders, the first one which was a classic movie. They need to focus on archeology and history like they were intended to be. I’m not saying get rid of the action scenes ’cause action scenes is what the Indy movies were all about to begin with but they need to make the next Indy film more serious. Not make it a popcorn flick like “Crystal Skull” was, ya know? That’s the kind of Indy movie we all wanna see.

I’m a really big Indiana Jones fan but “Raiders” will always be the best film. I don’t think anything can top that movie no matter how many Indy films they try to make. “Temple of Doom” was a really great film too, though. Lets hope and pray that Spielberg doesn’t mess up the next Indy film at all.

Actually, I think starting “Indiana Jones” all over again might be a pretty good idea!!!

Kathleen Kennedy confirms that the next Indiana Jones film is definitely happening but they don’t know when yet. However, when they do finally move the film forward, I expect Harrison not to return to the role ’cause he’s getting too old for the role obviously so I’m thinking it maybe best to replace him with someone else.

On top of that, an Indiana Jones reboot would be pretty interesting as long as they don’t make it an exact remake of the original trilogy. They shouldn’t remake, “Raiders” at all and just make an original film. Their own idea and their own story.

I used to be against Indy moving on with Harrison and re-booting but hey, what are you gonna do? Harrison getting too old to play the role and he’ll probably be 80 by the time the film starts going.

Do you really want George Lucas and Steven Spielberg back? If they did, be on the lookout for more goofy scenes like the fridge explosion. So you should thank Disney for finally getting rid of Lucas.

I enjoyed “The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull” film but my only problems with it was Shia Labeouf being in it and yes, I’ll have to agree that the fridge explosion was kind of wacky. Other than that, I thought mixing Indy and sci-fi together was an interesting concept!

I’m such a huge Indy fan, though. I loved “Raiders”, “Temple of Doom” and “The Last Crusade” as well. Of course, “Raiders” is the best Indy film… that film is classic.

Could Indy be successful without Harrison? I’d say yes. I think an Indy film without Harrison could be a box office smash if they made it right. I think this franchise was meant to last forever just like Star Wars, Star Trek, and James Bond… ya know?

How Harrison Ford can still play Indy in the new “Indiana Jones” reboot by Disney and make it work…

So Disney is officially rebooting the Indiana Jones franchise with Chris Pratt possibly taking over the Indy role. People are wondering why Disney is moving on without Harrison Ford. Keep in mind that Disney never said that they are moving on without Harrison Ford yet. They never confirmed whether he was in or not yet so that means it’s still a possibility that Harrison could still be involved. I don’t think he’s ruled out yet.

How can they make it work with Harrison still playing Indy in the next film?

Well, when George Lucas used to be involved, I remember that Lucas and Spielberg were talking about rebooting the series but with an aging Indiana Jones passing the torch to a younger Indy. They originally had that idea for Indy 5 but that idea may have been scrapped when Disney bought Lucasfilm. Harrison could still play Indy in the next film. The older Indiana Jones is on the verge of retirement from being the archaeologist and he passes the whip to a much younger Indy. The Chris Pratt character can have Harrison as Indy become his mentor and teacher. That’s the direction that I think they should go in.

If Spielberg and Ford returns without Lucas being involved, that’ll be awesome! I’ll admit that Lucas wasn’t the greatest storyteller so I’m actually kind of glad he’s gone. More creative freedom for Spielberg and Harrison.

I can absolutely see Harrison coming back for Indy in the next one ’cause Harrison has been expressing interest in returning to the role for years so never say never, people! It’s still a possibility! They should still go for the pass the torch to the young idea.

Looks like Steven Spielberg wants to direct new “Indiana Jones” movie after all…

Despite George Lucas no longer being involved in the “Indiana Jones” franchise, it seems that Steven Spielberg still wants to be involved directing these films and he wants to direct the reboot. Spielberg is not confirmed yet, he’s just interested and there is no script as of yet.

More here:

Will Harrison still be involved in some form, though? We’ll have to wait and see.

Spielberg has a lot of passion for the Indiana Jones character and you can see that he still does. As long as Spielberg wants to direct, I’m sure he’ll get it. I’ll go see it as long as Spielberg is directing, why not?

Kev

Harrison is 72, y’all, I don’t think he can do his own stunts anymore!!!!

I understand how those are mad that Disney/Lucasfilm are moving on without Harrison Ford as Indy but keep in mind that the man is 72 now. I don’t think he has what it takes to play action scenes anymore. I think Harrison is pretty much done playing action movies. Just about anyways.

When he did “The Expendables 3”, Harrison had some action scenes but there was nothing that involved anything physical. All Harrison did was fly around in a helicopter. He didn’t do any running or punching. I’m sure he won’t do much of his own stunts in “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” either ’cause remember he got himself hurt trying to get on the Millennium Falcon. I don’t think you’ll see Harrison do too much physical stuff in Star Wars 7. He’s probably gonna be flying the Falcon for most of the movie anyways, I betcha.

Again, I understand why people are mad that Harrison may not be playing Indy anymore but keep in mind he is 72. It’s about time for him to move on and I’m sure Disney got his blessing anyways.

Soon, I’m sure Harrison will speak out on why he’s not in the new Indy film.

How much do you wanna bet that Harrison said no and turned it down? Maybe his age has nothing to do with turning down Indy. Maybe he felt that he can’t do it without George and Steve, ya know what I mean? It wouldn’t make sense to have Harrison as Indy when Steve is not directing and George is not in charge of the story, ya know? I’d say it’s actually a good idea not to have Harrison in when George and Steve are not involved. We’ll wait to see what Harrison himself says.

Sure, I’m a little disappointed too that Harrison is not gonna be involved it looks like but hey… it’s Hollywood. That’s the way it goes.

Kev

Disney wants Chris Pratt to play Indiana Jones for reboot and I’m actually okay with that!

I’m all for an Indy reboot as long as they keep the stories original and not make them a “remake” of the original series, ya know? I was hoping for an Indy 5 with Harrison still playing Indy but it’s understandable he can’t play the role anymore ’cause of his age, ya know? Harrison is 72 and I can’t seem him running around with a whip trying to fight the Nazis.

I’m a huge Indiana Jones fan… always have been.

Remember, George Lucas sold the rights of Lucasfilm to Disney so this gives Disney the right to make any Lucasfilm based movies all they want to that includes Indy so Steven Spielberg must be okay with Disney doing this too.

http://deadline.com/2015/01/chris-pratt-indiana-jones-guardians-of-the-galaxy-disney-1201360637/

I’m a huge fan of the Indy movies. I love all 4 of ’em (Yes, I thought “Crystal Skull” was great so suck it, haters). Hopefully they do a good job with this too. As long as this won’t be a complete remake of “Raiders”, I’m okay with that.

Who knows though, maybe Harrison will still star in this new film. Maybe Indy (played by Harrison) will pass the whip to a younger archaeologist (Chris Pratt). We’ll wait and see, though.

I don’t see Steven Spielberg directing the next Indy film. Spielberg won’t do it without George being in charge.

Harrison Ford does surprising Reddit AMA chat but of course keeps quiet on “Star Wars: Episode VII”…

Harrison Ford recently did a surprising Reddit AMA chat to promote his new Showtime show, “Years of Living Dangerously” and of course, his fans asked him a lot of questions about his past movie career mostly. Keep in mind that this chat will be VERY addicting as it is entertaining as hell. He must have been on Reddit for quite a while ’cause he answered a lot of questions. Of course, there is not one discussion of “Star Wars: Episode VII” which is understandable ’cause if he confirmed that he’s gonna be in it… this would have been big news. I’m sure Harrison is in “Star Wars 7″… Disney/Lucasfilm is probably ordering him to keep it quiet for now.

While he didn’t talk about Star Wars Episode 7, he did talk a little bit about the “Blade Runner” sequel.

Enjoy the chat here:

Edit to add: I tried to copy and paste my favorite responses but for some reason reddit didn’t allow it.  Oh well.

I say Disney/Lucasfilm should leave Indiana Jones alone…

A scary rumor was brought up this morning that Disney/Lucasfilm is thinking about re-booting the Indiana Jones franchise with Bradley Cooper taking over Indy if the Harrison Ford starring, “Indiana Jones 5” isn’t going on. Thankfully the rumor turned out not to be true! Don’t get me wrong. Bradley Cooper is a talented actor and one of the best out there but Indy isn’t for him. Bradley is too good looking and pretty to be playing Indy anyways.

I don’t mind Disney/Lucasfilm continuing on with Star Wars but Indy can’t be done without it’s original team. I feel that Indy needs to be done none other by the original three: George Lucas, Steven Spielberg and Harrison Ford. George Lucas no longer wants to be a part of this. It is still not yet known whether or not Spielberg wants to direct “Indy 5”. It is also not yet known whether or not Harrison is coming back although he has expressed interest in coming back in past interviews.

I love Indiana Jones. “Raiders Of the Lost Ark” will always be the best film. That film is a classic. No matter how many times Disney reboots Indy, nothing will EVER top “Raiders”. “Raiders” is one of my favorite movies ever. “Temple of Doom” was great. “The Last Crusade” was great too. “The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull” was pretty good except I didn’t like Shia Labeouf being in that film and didn’t care for the Nuke the Fridge scene like most people. Other than that, “Crystal Skull” was an okay film.

Indy should continue on with a 5th movie but not under Disney. Like I repeatedly said, it needs to be done by the original three. If it’s not done by the original three, then don’t do Indy at all.

Disney being in charge of Indy is scary stuff. I can’t see the upcoming Indy movies being loaded with CGI and the films being aimed for kids.

Will Steven Spielberg still be on for directing the next Indy film? I don’t know. We’ll have to wait and see. I am predicting though that Spielberg won’t direct the next one ’cause he probably can’t make it without George. Same with Harrison. He might not do it without George either.

I think they should just leave it as these 4 films. Indy having a large number of sequels would be pretty lame. Continue on with Star Wars all you want to but Indy can’t be touched. Of course they won’t. They’re gonna keep making Indy sequels and make loads of money off it.

Will I go see the next Indy movie? I don’t know. If Harrison agrees to reprise his role as Indy once again, maybe but if he’s not gonna be in the next one… then no. Depends on how good the plot is gonna be and stuff.

Disney scores full rights for “Indiana Jones” franchise from Paramount…

Ever since George Lucas announced retirement from Hollywood last year, he gave up the rights for his Lucasfilm company and sold it to Disney. This gives the rights for Disney to make as many Star Wars movies as they wanted; however, people wondered what’s gonna happen to the Indiana Jones franchise since it’s owned by Paramount Pictures. Now you no longer have to worry about what’s gonna happen with Indy ’cause the franchise has been bought by Disney. Paramount has agreed to sell the full rights to Disney. Which means that Disney now owns the first four Indy films: “Raiders”, “Temple of Doom”, “Crusade” and “Crystal Skull”. This also means that Disney has the full rights to do whatever they want with the character. Make as many movies as they want: sequels, prequels, reboots, etc.

This doesn’t confirm that Indy V has gotten the greenlight yet but for a long time now… Harrison Ford has expressed interest in returning to the character for one more time. My question is will Harrison still do this film without George Lucas on board? Will Steven Spielberg still direct Indy V without George?

Deadline reports.

I’m actually kind of thankful that George is no longer doing Indy ’cause that’s an opportunity for a better film. While I did like “Crystal Skull” the last Indy movie, I’ll admit that some of it was silly as hell and had some problems. It’s just that I think that movie would have been a lot better if Shia Labeouf wasn’t in it… he pretty much ruined it for me. Other than that, the film was pretty exciting. I liked the idea of mixing Indy with sci-fi — I just wished the script was better.

I don’t care what anyone thinks — Disney can make as many Indy films as they want to sequels, prequels or reboots… whatever but nothing will top “Raiders”. “Raiders” is obviously the best Indy film. I love it so much. It’s one of those movies I can watch over and over and never get tired of it. “Raiders” is indeed an essential classic and an important movie. I thought “Temple of Doom” was a pretty amazing film but my heart will always be toward “Raiders”.

Lets hope Disney won’t remake, “Raiders” ’cause that would be really bad.
