Like the title says as of today Dec. 8th is a day of remembrance of 4 important musicians in the music industry who inspired and changed us all over the years. These are musicians who are having birthdays today and having death anniversaries.
The Birthday musicians are Jim Morrison (Born: Dec. 8th, 1943) and Gregg Allman (Born: Dec. 8th 1947).
The Death Anniversary musicians are Dimebag Darrell (who passed 15 years ago today) and John Lennon (who passed 39 years ago today).
All 4 of these musicians were definitely important to my life so I’ll never forget any of them. Gregg Allman passed a few years ago so now he joins these men in heaven.
I’m a huge Doors fan, a huge Allman Bros. fan and a huge Pantera fan. Of course, I listened to a lot of Lennon’s solo stuff too.
Dec. 8th is always an important day of music because of these guys and I think they are the Mt. Rushmore of music for sure.
RIP to all of them and love all of them.
Dec. 8th is always an important day of the music industry. Why? It’s because this day is the Anniversary Deaths of John Lennon and Dimebag Darrell and the birthday of Jim Morrison.
John Lennon wasn’t my favorite Beatle but he was still a legend and we should never forget what happened to him. We should never forget what happened to Dimebag. We should never forget Jim Morrison either.
I always honor these guys every Dec. 8th and would keep doing it every year. They were very important to music. Always remember that.
Lennon wasn’t really my favorite Beatle but he’s still cool. Amazing performance of one of my favorite tunes.
George Harrison has always been my favorite Beatle but I listened to John’s music over the years. I like John’s solo stuff and the songs he wrote with the Beatles. Everybody wants to post John’s “Imagine” which is a great tune, no doubt but my favorite Lennon song is “Working Class Hero”.
I’m also a huge fan of the Beatles and enjoy some of John Lennon’s solo work.
34 years ago today, we lost one of the Beatles and that is none other than, John Lennon. John and Yoko were returning to their NYC apartment where they were staying and John was shot by Mark David Chapman as the couple was just entering the building. John was rushed to a nearby hospital and was pronounced dead later on.
Like most, I’m a pretty big Beatles fan. I have most of their records and trying to collect them all. I’m also a huge fan of John’s solo stuff as well.
Paying my respects to three legendary musicians today on this Dec. 8th. RIP to Dimebag Darrell and John Lennon. Happy Birthday to Jim Morrison of the Doors!
3 important musicians who were an inspiration to me as well.
Lennon was gunned down 31 years ago today, and I thought it would be cool to post my favorite Lennon songs in his solo career.
Here they are:
- Imagine – I could listen to this song a 100 times a day and would never get bored. We all should love it. It’s his anthem.
- Cold Turkey – This song is true rock n’ roll at it’s best. Lennon sounds angry in this song and definitely had a message to say in it.
- Working Class Hero – This is one of my favorite acoustic songs of all time. I could probably do a cover of it myself.
- Give Peace A Chance – Just a beautiful song, period.
- Power to the Pepole – Lennon was definitely the best at writing songs about Peace and Love. He definitely helped changed the world with his songs.
That’s it, enjoy, and RIP Lennon.
Like most people, I’m a huge Beatles & John Lennon fanatic myself. It really is too bad that John won’t be around to see Sir Paul McCartney get married today. John would have been at his wedding for sure. John would probably even be Paul’s best man.
I hope this marriage goes well for Paul. Lets hope Nancy doesn’t do anything stupid to hurt the man like his last wife, Heather Mills did.
Best of luck, Paul.
