Dave Mustaine needs to induct Metallica into Hall of Fame!!!

While Dave Mustaine was in Metallica very briefly when the band first started in the early days, Dave won’t be part of the Metallica inductee since he never played on a Metallica album. Dave still should be part of the Metallica legacy by having Dave induct the band into the hall of fame. It really seems appropriate that Dave should be the one inducting Metallica.

Come on James and Lars, bury the hatchet and call a truce with Dave. Life is too short to hold long grudges and it would be cool to see Dave, James, and Lars become brothers again.

I doubt it would be Dave inducting Metallica but it would be a surprise if Metallica got him.

If not Dave Mustaine, then I can see Dave Grohl, Axl Rose, or Ozzy inducting the band.

BREAKING NEWS: Metallica, Jeff Beck, Run DMC and a few others to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame!!!!

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 2009 inductees has finally been announced! It is official that the Hall of Fame will induct Metallica this year. The Hall of Fame will also induct the rap group Run DMC and legendary guitarist Jeff Beck. Bobby Womack, and Little Anthony and the Imperials will also be inducted.

More on it here:

http://www.rollingstone.com/news/story/25451685/metallica_rundmc_jeff_beck_lead_rock_and_roll_hall_of_fames_class_of_2009

I know what you all are thinking, you’re probably thinking to yourself, “Fuck Run DMC and fuck the Hall of fame, Run DMC is NOT rock”. Of course, Run DMC is rock, if they weren’t, then they wouldn’t have collaborated with Aerosmith for “Walk This Way”. This is the rap group that pioneered this new rap genre titled “Rap/Metal”, so they deserve this induction every step of the way!!!

If it wasn’t for them, then there would be no Beastie Boys, Kid Rock, no Limp Bizkit, and all them rap/metal bands that has been inspired by Run DMC!!! Think about it!!!

Cool Video: Metallica “Guitar Hero” video game trailer…

Metallica just released the “Guitar Hero” video game trailer already, and this confirms that “Master of Puppets” will be included in the game.

Enjoy the trailer, I had a smile on my face while watching it, as this game is going to be cool. Can’t wait to get it!!!

Expect the Metallica haters to complain that the songs on the game sound better than the original albums, but fuck ’em, right? That’s the whole point of the video game is making the music sound better.

Confirmed: Metallica will release their own Guitar Hero game…

The boys in Metallica finally confirmed the rumours that they will indeed get their own Guitar Hero game. Where Guitar Hero fans would get the opportunity to play nothing but Metallica songs.

In the game, will have 28 Metallica songs, and the band also picked their favorite songs from other bands they played shows with such as Alice In Chains, the Foo Fighters, Slayer, Machine Head, and Queen.

I’m pretty sure in the game they will let you either choose which band member you’d like to play as, maybe either Kirk and James. Maybe even Lars and Rob. You can either play single player or the band career mode. In the band career mode, you’ll get to play on the stages of some of Metallica’s most famous venues where they played at in the past.

Keep an eye on the band’s website as they’ll give you the updates on the tracklisting’s for the game:

http://www.metallica.com/index.asp?item=601719

Songs that I think that’ll definitely be on there, this is NOT the official listing, this is just “speculation” of what I think will be on there…:

“Battery”, “Master of Puppets”, “The Thing That Should Not Be”, “Enter Sandman”, “Sad But True”, “The Unforgiven I”, “Where ever I May Roam”, “Nothing Else Matters”, “The Day That Never Comes”, “Cyanide”, “The Judas Kiss”, “All Nightmare Long”, “Whiplash”, “Seek and Destroy”, “Fight Fire With Fire”, “For Whom The Bell Tolls”, “Creeping Death”, “The Call of Ktulu”, “Fade to Black”, “One”, “King Nothing”, “Until It Sleeps”, “Hero of the Day”, “Fuel”, “The Memory Remains”, “Some Kind of Monster”, “St. Anger”, Bob Seger cover of “Turn the Page”.

I think they’re definitely going to do their most popular songs from every album and that list above fits. Although, it would be nice if Metallica will throw some obscure songs that aren’t played on the radio though. I’m sure they will. We’ll wait and see.

I’m definitely looking forward to this and I will buy it when it comes out in 2009 since I’m a huge Metallica fan.

Report: Metallica wants Jason Newsted to share Rock Hall of Fame honor if band is inducted…

If the band Metallica is inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this year, James Hetfield reveals that he wants to share the induction with Jason Newsted. Jason Newsted is a former bass player for the band who has played bass on the Metallica albums “And Justic For All”, “The Black Album” and “Load/Reload”. Jason Newsted joined the band after Cliff Burton’s death and Newsted became a prominent member of the band.

As the band were making plans to go back into the studio to record “St. Anger”, Newsted announced he quit the band due to private and personal reasons. Later in the movie “Some Kind of Monster”, Jason admits the real reason he left the band was for creative differences, Jason complained that he wanted to write his own material in Metallica but James and Lars were doing most of the writing, leaving Jason out of the songwriting process. So Jason left Metallica and formed his own band called Echobrain.

James Hetfield speaks out to Rollingstone saying that he will not have Dave Mustaine share the Metallica Hall of Fame induction because Dave didn’t play on any Metallica records but Jason Newsted did.

What a load of crock. The band Metallica should share the honor with Dave. Metallica and Dave Mustaine have been feuding for over 20 years to this very day.

They should just act like adults, bury the hatchet and get along, but of course, I don’t see that happening any time soon.

Report: Lars Ulrich is selling a Basquiat painting and it costs $12 million, you rich enough to afford it?

When Lars is not around music and not playing with Metallica, Lars’s 2nd passion in life is art and painting. He is a painter himself and he collects artwork by other artists as a hobby of his.

Lars is selling a painting by artist Jean-Michael Basquiat. Basquiat is a graffitti artist who died of a drug overdose in 1988 when he was 27. The name of the painting that Lars is selling is titled “Untitled (Boxer)” which the painting is a black heavyweight boxer with his arms in the air.

The Associated Press reports:

http://ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5gw29QnJMwRe9S279j5QpJQCR6jLQD93NPF1O0

Why would Lars want to sell that for $12 million when I’m sure he made much more than that from the “Death Magnetic” record which made no. 1 on the Billboard for 3 weeks in a row?

I can see why Lars is always selling his own paintings and paintings by other artists because it is impossible to keep all paintings in a house.

Report: Lars Ulrich speaks on “Death Magnetic” sound quality…

Lars Ulrich finally responded to fans complaining about the sound quality on the new Metallica album “Death Magnetic”. In fan reviews of the album, some complained that they can’t hear Rob’s bass, some say that the CD is too distorted and so on. Lars spoke with Blender magazine when asked about it.

Lars defended “Death Magnetic” sound by saying it’s no different when fans complained about the sound quality on “And Justice For All”. He goes on saying that the internet gives music listeners a voice and to be honest about bands. He then goes on saying “he can’t keep up with this shit”, clearly meaning that he doesn’t care about fan negativity toward Metallica.

He then says how he is so happy and proud that this new album “Death Magnetic” has got mostly positive feedback from the listeners. He explains that Metallica was so committed in getting the direction of the music of what Rick Rubin wanted. Rick Rubin was like a coach for the band and Metallica was doing everything Rick says. He also says that the band wanted “Death Magnetic” to be a live recording.

I’ve said before and I’ll say it again.

Fans are always looking for something new and different to complain about Metallica. Just negative people that do nothing but talk negative trash about Metallica.

But they can keep talking, the haters are part of the reason the band is so huge right now.

I find nothing wrong with the sound quality on “Death Magnetic”, it sounds great to me.

Report: Metallica vs. Fernandes Guitars, band feuding with guitar company over Rob Trujillo’s name…

Oh my! It’s been a long time since Metallica went to war against something since Napster, eh? Metallica and the band’s reps have slapped Fernandes Guitars company a lawsuit.

Robert Trujillo, the band’s new bassist made a confirmed promotional deal with the guitar company so they can use Robert’s photos and name in advertisement’s with the bass player’s permission. The company also helped Rob Trujillo build and make him custom made bass guitars.

However, when the rest of the boys in Metallica found out about this, it seems that the band isn’t happy with the guitar company since Trujillo is now a new asset of Metallicorp. The band Metallica sent Fernandes guitar company a Cease and Desist letter claiming they had no right to use Rob Trujillo’s name and likeness, pretty hilarious since Trujillo was the one who signed the promotion deal with the company himself.

TMZ reports:

See the Fernandes Official website here:

TMZ couldn’t even spell Fernandes right, lol.

I wonder if this will end up into an all out war with Rob vs. Metallica. Rob agreed to the promotional deal but he probably didn’t think he had to get the band’s permission too.

This lawsuit is lame and will get the band no where.

Thought: Metallica’s “St. Anger” is NOT a horrible album!

As a matter of fact, I really like the album. In my opinion, the album is pretty good. Not as excellent as “Death Magnetic” or their old stuff, but “St. Anger” had good songs on it. “St. Anger” showed a different side of Metallica.

Their goal as a band was, they wanted to have a different style of music every album they do. There are no guitar solos on the album “St. Anger”, but hey, that’s fine with me. They are a band. The band is not afraid to do what they want to do.

The reason there are no guitar solos on “St. Anger” was that Kirk Hammett was tired of being a “lead guitar” player, he hated being looked at as a soloist in the band when he also wanted to be looked at as a rhythym player and songwriter of the band too. In the movie “Some Kind of Monster”… Kirk Hammett, said so himself during the recording of “St. Anger” that he was bored of playing too many guitar solos for songs. He wanted to write more riffs and write lyrics of his own toward the album.

Fans shouldn’t blame Metallica for keep changing their sound every album. All bands and musicians get tired of staying in the same style and genre. The same with Metallica. Look at songwriters like Beck and Neil Young who constantly changes genres every album.

Will Metallica stay to their old speed metal roots with “Death Magnetic” when they start recording their next album? I wouldn’t count on it. This classic speed metal style for “Death Magnetic” could be a one off. Never know that Metallica can change a genre and style again for their next album after “Death Magnetic”. And who knows how long Rob Trujillo will stay with the band. Trujillo could possibly last with Metallica for like two or three albums.

I really like the album “St. Anger”, always did. I never said it was bad, I was just going by the fan reactions.

Metallica are musicians and songwriters, just like everyone else. Musicians and songwriters go into different directions all the time. Even I do with my own music. You shouldn’t hate a band or a artist just because they don’t stay to their true original sound. They want to discover new things.

I am sick of music fans complaining about Metallica for going to a different direction, and I agree with James and Lars, that them being heavy and doing speed metal every single album would be boring. If Cliff Burton was still alive today and if he was still in Metallica, do you honestly think Cliff would want to be playing fast headbanging metal all the time? No. I don’t think so. Cliff would want to go through different directions in Metallica too.

The future of Metallica is not always going to be the same. I’ve seen the “Some Kind of Monster” movie last night and it was great. I will talk more about that some other time.

A day of Metallica shopping…

So I went to the mall and Best Buy today on my day off. Did a little Metallica shopping.

I picked up 3 Metallica albums: The Black Album, Kill Em All and Ride the Lightning. I don’t have those albums yet. I’ve heard the Black Album too many times but I bought it anyways just so I can own the entire Metallica discography. So I now officially own every Metallica album: “Kill ‘Em All”, “Ride the Lightning”, “And Justice For All”, “Master of Puppets”, “The Black Album”, “Load”, “Reload”, “St. Anger”, and “Death Magnetic”. I even own “S&M” and “Garage Inc”, I also own the Mission Impossible III soundtrack with their “I Dissapear” song on there.

Other than the 3 Metallica albums, I also finally picked up the “Some Kind of Monster” movie on DVD. Then I picked up the Guitar World magazine with Metallica on the cover, lol. So now you see how much I admire the band. They are one of my top 5 important bands in my life. I will watch “Some Kind of Monster” tonight because I’ve never seen the film before.

I did see a movie in theater today, I saw the new Coen Bros. movie “Burn After Reading”, review coming up shortly.
