The Listening Room: Hear the Sex Pistols play “Pretty Vacant” at Isle of Wight…

This is the only Sex Pistols video I could find in youtube at Isle of Wight in profesional quality. They must of aired this on TV in the UK. Hopefully good quality of “Anarchy in the Uk” and “God Save the Queen” at Isle of Wight will go up too.

But from what I’ve seen here in this video, the Sex Pistols still rock and this is the first performance I’ve seen of them since they reunited, the band still has it!

BREAKING NEWS: Metallica reveals album title…

The boys in Metallica finally revealed their album title on their website. The name of their new studio album is “Death Magnetic”.

On their website, they’ve been putting together this weird code game where you have to figure out the words leading up to the album title.

“Death Magnetic” is scheduled to release sometime in September.

Check the band’s official website for more info:

Definitely a better title than “St. Anger”. “Death Magnetic” definitely sounds like a definitive Metallica album.

But honestly, a definitive Metallica album is not a “definitive” Metallica album without Jason Newstead. Jason Newstead pretty much defined the new era of Metallica.

I don’t really care for their new bassist Rob Trujillo though.

Report: Real names of famous musicians…

Yahoo music compiled a Top Ten List of Famous Musicians that has staged names revealing their real names.

Check it out here:

http://new.music.yahoo.com/blogs/listoftheday/46746/the-ten-performers-who-wont-be-changing-their-stage-names-anytime-soon

While it is an okay list, they are still missing a lot of very important ones.

Musicians like:

David Bowie – (real birth name: David Jones)

Slash – (real birth name: Saul Hudson)

Billy Joel – (real birth name: William Joseph Martin)

Ozzy Osbourne – (real birth name: John Osbourne)

Marilyn Manson – (real birth name: Brian Hugh Warner)

Madonna – (real birth name: Louise Ciccone)

Bono of U2 – (real birth name: Paul David Hewson)

The Edge guitarist of U2 – (real birth name: David Howell Evans)

P. Diddy or whatever names he comes up with – (real birth name: Sean Combs)

Kid Rock – (real birth name – Robert James Ritchie)

Not only famous musicians change their real names to cool stage names, there’s a lot of unsigned local musicians that do it too.

Why do musicians change their real name to a cool stage name? It’s not that they got something to hide. They are not trying to play music anonymous, that’s not the case. The point in changing the name is that it catches on the media’s attention, period.

Do you think Ozzy would be big and huge today if he never changed his name? No. Ozzy would have never gotten no where with his music if he never changed his name. Staged names are just a better name to remember you by, if you’re real name sounds silly and dumb and not proud to be performing under your real name, think of a good stage name that people will remember you.

Like my staged name, Kev Brock is not my real birth name, it’s just a fun little staged name I came up with after friends and family started calling me that, so I figure, hmmmm, that be a perfect staged name for my music, and blam, just like that, I’m suddenly well known in this local area of music under that Kev Brock name. I wasn’t well known in this area before people started calling me by that name, it seems to pick up everywhere. I was thinking the Kev Brock name wouldn’t work, that people would ignore it and find it silly but I guess that name is working. While my real last name is Brockway, everyone calls me Brock, that’s how I came up with the stage name. Stage names are cool and fun, and there is nothing wrong with musicians using them.

If you don’t want to be well known and get marketed under your real name in your music, go ahead and change it, change it to something cool that would definitely pick up on the media.

Report: Sex Pistols play crazy set at Isle of Wight Festival…

The Sex Pistols played their Isle of Wight Festival concert set tonight. As usual, Johnny Lydon and the boys are always bringing on their craziness and sparking some controversy during the show. Johnny was threatening to kill the audience in between songs and going on and on about how much Sting and the Police sucks and are a couple of blokes.

Those are that are not new to the Sex Pistols wouldn’t take all that personally and laugh it off, but for those are new to the Sex Pistols better do your history research on the band to see how crazy they are at all of their concerts they played in the past. The band has pulled controversy at their concerts much WORSE than this in the past, so if you’re a die hard fan, you would know that they are a crazy band.

Hell, they are the fucking SEX PISTOLS! They do and say what they want at their concerts and promoters don’t kick ’em off the stage no matter how badily the band behaves!

NME Reports:

Sounds like a good show, and glad the band is sticking around, playing more. Hopefully a new Sex Pistols record will be on the way too.

Report: Stone Temple Pilots respond to lawsuit filed by Atlantic records…

Stone Temple Pilots, the band themselves responded back publicily to the lawsuit filed by Atlantic Records, a longtime record label that has signed plenty of legendary acts on it’s roster including Led Zeppelin and others. Atlantic sued two members of the band Scott Weiland and drummer Eric Kretz. Dean and Robert Deleo were not sued. Scott and Eric are both being accused of trying to end their contract early with the label.

The band defended themselves by saying the label were discussing positive things about Stone Temple Pilots and says that this is the reason that today’s music industry is falling apart with more and more iconic bands parting ways with major labels.

Reuters reports:

What a bunch of assholes Atantic are, I’m on the Stone Temple Pilots side all the way. Atlantic will lose this, they have to prove how the band is trying to leave the label and Atlantic can’t prove that.
