Why I’m not getting the new albums by Pink Floyd or Ac/Dc…

To be honest, I don’t think I’m gonna get the new albums by either Pink Floyd or Ac/Dc. Pink Floyd released a new album called, “Endless River” which is a tribute to Rick Wright and unreleased material recorded around the “Division Bell” sessions. Honestly, I wasn’t too impressed with their new song that just came out, “Louder Than Words” in which David Gilmour sings. I wasn’t too impressed with that song at all. It was kind of boring and un-listenable at best. I listened to other clips of the album in ITunes and wasn’t too thrilled about the other tracks so I don’t think I’m gonna get it. I do like Pink Floyd, I prefer their older stuff with Syd Barrett and Roger Waters. I’ve noticed that “Endless River” is getting mostly negative reviews so I guess the rest of the Pink Floyd fanbase would come to an agreement that this new album release is a bit of a let down and disappointment.

As for Ac/Dc, I’m not really all that thrilled with their new songs either. It’s just the same typical three or four chord pop songs that Ac/Dc have always been known to writing. Plus, I don’t want to get an Ac/Dc album that doesn’t have Malcolm Young on guitar.

I don’t think I’m gonna get these two albums at all and think I’m gonna skip ’em.

I am gonna get the new Smashing Pumpkins album, “Monuments To An Elegy”, I’ve been impressed with the songs that Billy Corgan have been releasing so far so I’m probably gonna end up buying that one. There are still a few other albums I need to get that came out earlier this year like Fozzy “Do You Wanna Start A War”, Primus “Primus & the Chocolate Factory”, Opeth “Pale Communion” and Judas Priest “Redeemer of Souls”. I’ll try to get to those albums pretty soon.

I’ll have to admit that 2014 was a pretty decent year of music. I purchased quite a bit of new albums this year and I usually don’t buy too many new albums. When will my top music list be up this year? At the end of year I usually do a Top 10 Best of but this year, I think I’m gonna make it a top 15. So at the end of December I’m gonna do a list of Top 15 Best Music Albums of 2014. I’ll do the same for movies too. I’ll make the Top 15 Best of Music and Movies lists in a video blog at the end of the year… either at the end of Dec. or beginning of January.

Roger Waters responds to fan criticism about not being involved with “Endless River”, he tells them to “Get a Grip”…

Roger Waters himself responds to fan criticism about not being involved with the new Pink Floyd album, “Endless River”. He says that he left the band like over 30 years ago and he hasn’t been a part of Floyd since, yet people kept bugging him about it. Even people kept bugging his wife about it. Roger must be getting frustrated and annoyed. He sounds like it from the article above.

I don’t think he wants to be involved with Pink Floyd ever again. Even though he buried the hatchet with Gilmour and Mason, he just wants to move on and do his own thing, ya know??? If Roger wanted to be involved with Pink Floyd, I’m sure Gilmour and Mason would allow him to come back anytime he wants to.

I understand how people can’t see a band without it’s founding members but hey, band members changes over the years. We’re in this day and age where fans wanna see legendary and iconic bands continue on with their founding members but they refuse to support the fact that bands move on without their founding members. Quite sad, really. I’ll have a rant about that in a different post another time.

I hate that bands wanna move on without their founding members too… I’m feeling everyone but that’s the name of the game in the music business. That’s how it is. Bands continue on ’cause that’s what they do, play music. They do what they have to do… they don’t give a shit what the fans think, sorry to say. They just do what’s right for them.

Pink Floyd posts 30 second teaser of “Endless River”…

Just listened to the 30 second clip of a track from “Endless River” album. This is a pretty long album. It’s gonna cost $20.00 on Itunes but I’m still gonna get it. While, I’m getting that album, I’ll get “The Division Bell” along with it.

Even though this a short clip of “Endless River”, I’m still blown away. It’s already sounding beautiful and I figured it’s gonna have Gilmour’s sick playing.

Even though the album won’t have much vocals, the album is still gonna be amazing. I just love instrumental music.

Enjoy.

More on Pink Floyd’s “Endless River”…

I still say it makes total sense to call, “Endless River” a Pink Floyd album. Why? For a few reasons. For starters, “Endless River” will be 20 years after “The Division Bell”. Most of the material on “Endless River” was written by Rick Wright… like I said before, the material on “Endless River” were unreleased recordings during the “Division Bell” sessions. These are reasons alone that the new album deserves to be called a Pink Floyd album.

Gilmour himself sort of explained why this album deserves to be called a Pink Floyd album, “The Endless River has as its starting point the music that came from the 1993 ‘Division Bell’ sessions. We listened to over 20 hours of the three of us playing together and selected the music we wanted to work on for the new album. Over the last year we’ve added new parts, re-recorded others and generally harnessed studio technology to make a 21st century Pink Floyd album. With Rick gone, and with him the chance of ever doing it again, it feels right that these revisited and reworked tracks should be made available as part of our repertoire”

The music on “Endless River” were meant to be instrumentals. They weren’t really meant to have vocals although one song on “Endless River” with lyrics written by Gilmour’s wife has vocals on it but the vocals will be probably be sung by Gilmour himself.

Keep in mind that over the years, Waters wasn’t the only Pink Floyd lead singer. Syd Barrett started out as lead vocals for the band and I think Rick Wright himself sang some lead. Gilmour himself sung some Floyd songs as well. So it wasn’t always Roger on the vocals.

This new album was never intended for Roger to be involved in. It ain’t true Pink Floyd without Roger??? In my opinion, it has always been Pink Floyd no matter the members. As long as Gilmour, Mason and Wright are involved, that’s Pink Floyd no matter what you think of it. Waters isn’t involved with the “Endless River” recording ’cause he never recorded vocals during the “Division Bell” sessions… he left Floyd and moved on.

Rick Wright may not have been a legal member of Floyd during the “Division Bell” sessions but he will always be looked at as an important member no matter what you think of it.

This may have been a side project at first, music from The Big Spliff but later Gilmour clarified there’s only a little bit of The Big Spliff on “Endless River” so technically this is still NOT a side project.

Anyway, I’m sure Gilmour is gonna get interviewed by the music press about the album… he’s probably gonna get interviewed for Rollingstone/Guitarworld and he will talk about it more. I’m sure he’ll explain more on why he named this a Pink Floyd album.

Who cares if Waters isn’t involved. The guy is a freakin’ Iran lover and jew hater anyway so let him go. Just shut up and enjoy the album. I know I’m gonna!!! Can’t wait for it!

New Pink Floyd album set for Nov. 10th release date…

There’s a lot of angry Pink Floyd fans complaining that this album has no Roger Waters on the lead vocals. I think that’s more proof that people are very uneducated with music in this day and age. This album was intended to be mostly an instrumental album, I believe. They were just unreleased recordings that they did during the Division Bell sessions, just instrumentals that they did with the late Rick Wright on keyboards. This album was never intended to be new originals with Roger Waters on vocals. I think the band pretty much did this in honor of Rick Wright, more like a tribute for him. I’m sure they could put Roger Waters singing on the album but all that’s gonna do is overshadow Rick’s keyboard playing. This album was never meant to be a new album full of hits.

Fans complaining about no Roger Waters are fans who probably only listen to “Dark Side of the Moon” or “The Wall” only and not their other albums.

I’m definitely looking forward to “Endless River”! I’m pretty sure this will be a pretty sick album. This could be the album of the year. I’m a pretty big Pink Floyd fan myself. While I’m sure Rick Wright’s keyboard playing will be all over the album… I’m sure David Gilmour will put on some pretty sick guitar solos too. I love listening to Gilmour’s playing.

Pink Floyd to release new album this year? Yes, you heard that right!!!!

Pink Floyd is set to release a new album later this year. It’ll be their first new studio album since 94’s “The Division Bell”. This new album will have unreleased songs that were recorded during “The Division Bell” sessions. The new album news was first leaked by Gilmour’s wife who revealed the news on twitter. Turns out to be true.

Look like a new album to add to the list of albums I’m looking forward to in 2014 this year. Like most, I’m a Pink Floyd fan as well as “Dark Side of the Moon” and “The Wall” are two of my favorite albums. I love “The Division Bell” too even if it wasn’t everyone’s favorite album by them.

The other new albums I look forward to this year are new albums by “Weird Al”, The Foo Fighters, the new Slash album, the new album by Judas Priest, and the new album by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers.

If Metallica ever gets their new album the green light this year, I’ll be looking forward to that as well. I have a feeling we’re not gonna see a new Metallica album this year, though, look like it’ll be for next year.

RIP: Richard Wright 1943 – 2008

One of the founder’s of Pink Floyd and keyboardist of the band, Richard Wright, died today after battling cancer at his home in Britain. His family did not want to give any more details of his death. Before Pink Floyd, he was in a band with Roger Waters and Nick Mason, a band called Sigma 6. When Syd Barrett joined, they later became Pink Floyd officially. While Richard Wright wasn’t much of a songwriter in Pink Floyd, Wright did write two of the band’s biggest songs in history, and they are “The Great Gig In the Sky” and “Us and Them” both from “Dark Side of the Moon”.

Richard Wright quit Pink Floyd in the 1980’s to form his own band but later rejoined the band for their 1987 album, “A Momentary Lapse of Reason”. He then later played with Pink Floyd again for the live “Pulse” DVD/CD set and also Live 8 reunion.

Sounds like a great time and a total blast. That be cool if Led Zeppelin can come up with something like that.

Will any Pink Floyd members actually be on that thing too? Will David Gilmour himself or Roger Waters himself be on the cruise to party with Pink Floyd fans? It be cool but I doubt it.
