I remember seeing the mini-series version of “The Stand” on TV w/ Gary Sinise in the leading role and I remember it being pretty good.

I’m excited for Matt McConaughey playing Randall Flagg. Randall Flagg is a very popular Stephen King villain. Matt have been my favorite actor for a long while now. I’ve been impressed with him as of late. I loved Matt’s acting in movies like “Interstellar”, “The Wolf Of Wall Street” and “Killer Joe”. “The Lincoln Lawyer” was a pretty good movie too.

I think Matt’s gonna make a great, Randall Flagg. He’s gonna kill that role. Some of you out there may have not seen Matt play a villain before but he did play a villain in a movie before. Check out his movie, “Killer Joe” and you would see that he can play a great villain that makes you want to hate him.

Why is the big screen movie gonna be 4 parts? It’s because the novel is pretty thick. If they made it one movie, it would be a long movie so they would have to split in parts so they can fit the whole story as much as possible.

I’m gonna have to re-read “The Stand” novel. Haven’t read it in a long time.

Report: Stephen King, the man himself, speaks on the big screen version of “The Stand”!!!

Stephen King himself, is quick on responding to “The Stand” remake that is greenlighted to hit the big screen. King wrote to Entertainment Weekly, speaking his honest thoughts, and they aren’t too kindly either. He says, no actor would be able to top the performance of Gary Sinise as Stu Redman, he thought Gary’s performance was the best. King suggest  Jake Gyllenhaal to take over the role. King admits he never knew about this until the news hit hard on the internet, so King obviously browse the web like all of us. Even King knows that this would be tough to make this a 2 hour movie, but he said a trilogy could work. He wants Billy Bob Thornton to play the Trashcan Man. He also joked there would be a lot of heavy metal music for the soundtrack.

Read more on it,  here.

Ouch! Sounds like he’s not too happy with the remake and likes the  mini series better! Even King can be critical of his own projects!

Report: Stephen King’s “The Stand” big screen version on the way…

Warner Bros. and CBS, have teamed up to bring Stephen King’s, “The Stand” to the big screen. “The Stand” was first brought to us in 1994 with a mini series that starred Gary Sinise, as Stu Redman, the leading character. The studios will sit down with directors and writers, to find the right take for the big screen version. Mosaic and Roy Lee are producing. Stephen King, the man himself, will be involved in some way, nobody knows yet.

“The Stand” is an apocalyptic story that tells of a plague virus which killed most Americans, leaving only some survivors. The survivors try their best to survive while they fight off the evil antagonist, Randall Flagg. Randall Flagg, was responsible for sending out that plague.

The Hollywood reporter, reports.

Honestly, I always thought, “The Stand” needed a big screen movie instead of small screen. Glad they finally considered it! The TV mini series sucked because they left so much out of the book. I think “The Stand” theater version should be a three part trilogy, and each film being three hours long, so they can fit everything in.

I don’t want Frank Darabont directing this. “The Green Mile” was a great movie, but “The Mist” sucked so bad. Darabont would ruin this one too. I’d say give this one to a talented director, like Christopher Nolan, Darren Aronofsky or Ridley Scott. “The Stand” big screen version should also be R rated, not leaving out the swearing, the violence, and gore.

Who should play Stu Redman? Should Gary get it again? Nah. I’d say give it to Christian Bale or Ethan Hawke.

From Stephen King’s official website:

Marvel probably wants more of King’s books into comics.

Some of his books I’d like to see Marvel do in comic form: The Dark Half, The Shining, Pet Sematary and Needful Things. They’d make good comics in my opinion.
