Why it’s important for me to learn music theory and learn to read music…

When making music for DAW software, I think it’s important for me to study music theory and learn to read music which I’ve been learning how to do both. I’ve also been practicing ear training really hard too!

This year I’m going to be taking learning how to play piano/MIDI keyboards a little more seriously so I can get good with MIDI controllers and things like that. If I’m going to get serious on home music recording, I really need to learn music theory and read music/sight reading. All those DAW software, they usually have a piano roll in them where you can put in your own notes. If I learn music theory and learn to read music/sight reading, this stuff would make home recording on a DAW a little more easier. You’ll be able to get music you hear in your head onto a recording a little easier too if you learn music theory, sight reading and having a good ear. My ear training is getting a lot better too. I’m really getting the hang of what a lot of notes sound like.

If I’m going to learn how to play the piano and learn to read music, I should learn how to read music for guitar too. It’s all important to do if you want to be a real musician. I know learning music theory and sight reading is a bit intimidating which is why a lot of musicians refuse to learn that stuff but seriously… music theory and sight reading are not that hard to learn at all. Both are really a piece of cake really. Even a little kid can learn that stuff! I’m glad I’m learning all this stuff.

You don’t really have to learn to read music for guitar since tablature is a big deal but I think you should. I know I’m going to. If I’m going to learn music theory, I should learn sight reading too.

I want to get good at using MIDI keyboards so I can make my own backing tracks for my songs. I’ll make all the full band music myself. For drums, I’m thinking about buying EZ track drummer software ’cause that’s popular software for home recording artists and I’m going to look into that. For making bass lines I’ll just use MIDI. I’ll figure out how to make full band tracks in the future ’cause I really want to do that stuff. I’m learning how to play keyboards this year. Been learning and practicing all week.

Think I just found the MIDI controller I would want for my home recording studio…

If I ever think about getting a better MIDI controller I would think about getting the Irig Keys and Irig Pad bundle. I would get the MIDI controller and IRIG Pad both at the same time. I’ll probably start saving up for this real soon.

https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/iRigKeysPads?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=dynamic&utm_content=Sweetwater+-+Product+Viewers+%280-4+days%29+-+Existing+Customers+-+Desktop+-+RHR&utm_term=Sweetwater+-+Product+Viewers+%280-4+days%29+-+Existing+Customers+-+Desktop+-+RHR+-+Single+Image

I should probably get a sampler pad too ’cause I’ve been thinking about getting one of those anyways. My home studio setup is not complete yet. Just got to get a MIDI controller keyboard and a sampler. I could probably put bass and drums behind my songs using a sampler.

On top of that sometime in the future, I would like to start making my own pop and dance music like David Bowie have done. Wouldn’t it be cool if I made my own pop songs?

I would like to make all kinds of music. Not just rock n’ roll and metal. I’ve been playing acoustic music for years. Time for something different.

This blog just hit 500 followers today… wow… awesome!

500Followers1.jpg

I guess me talking politics on my blog and being a Trump supporter is a good thing after all. Some may assume that me talking politics all the time and being a Trump supporter may hurt my own reputation and all but I don’t think so. My blog just hit 500 followers today and traffic just picked up a bit which is awesome.

This is why I continue to blog ’cause I wouldn’t be doing this still if people didn’t care. Whether you like me or not, I blog for myself pretty much but didn’t realize people cared until now. I’ve noticed my blog picked up some new fans and followers which feels good. I’m honored and humbled.

Goal for 2017, lets see if we can make it to 1,000 followers.

People think I alienate others ’cause of my “controversial” and “offensive” blogging & social networking but let them believe what they want to believe. I’m good. There are people out there who pay attention to me which I feel grateful for.

This makes me want to keep blogging. I blog ’cause it’s my way of speaking my mind, getting things off my chest and all that stuff. I not only talk about politics on here, though. I talk about anything and everything. Whatever I want to.

I started blogging years ago ’cause I grew fed up with people thinking they can have complete control over how I speak or how I think. Not happening.

Thanks for all the readers and followers. Keep reading ’cause there’s a bunch more stuff coming this year!

I’ve been watching the Inauguration on TV all day. The parade is going on right now.

Why you got to listen to all sorts of music instead of sticking to one genre…

A lot of people like to give me compliments that I like to listen to all sorts of music. People are usually impressed with that. Each time I buy some new albums or make a list of my favorite music, someone will usually reply complimenting me on my varied taste. Well, even though my main genres of music is mostly rock and metal… I still listen to a bit of everything including rap and pop music. I try to listen to a bit of everything. A lot lately, I’ve gotten into jazz and blues. I’m also into a lot of prog rock which is my favorite and of course, metal is my favorite too. I know a lot of people are not into rap and pop music but if you look at my music collection, you would see some of that stuff.

I find it’s important to listen to all kinds of music. I’ve got to listen to all kinds ’cause it helps with my songwriting inspiration. Plus, I’ll get bored with listening to one kind of music. It bothers me that people listen to one genre. Once again, I listen to a bit of everything. I would like to listen to more classical music and opera at some point. I’ve just been listening to a lot of jazz music lately. Jazz music is awesome.

As far as me listening to pop music goes, I wish people would stop shaming pop music so much ’cause not all of it is bad. Some pop music out there is really good stuff. I’m a fan of Rihanna and not ashamed of it. I like Taylor Swift. I like Janet Jackson. I just started listening to Maroon 5 a lot now and I think they’re really good. As for rap music, you’ll see me listening to NWA or Dr. Dre or something like that. I would like to get into rap music more and am trying ’cause it’s good stuff.

I just like good music, ya know? As long as the music is good, who cares what genre it is? I’ll be a fan of any artist or band as long as I like the music. If the music attracts me then I’ll support it. Simple as that. Music is music to me and that’s all there is to it!

It’s amazing that I get all of this support from people online… honored and humbled…

Yeah, I really do have a fan following online which means a lot to me really. Funny thing is some people don’t want to positively acknowledge the fanbase that I have online. A lot of people want to treat it in a negative direction like people call me “delusional” and say I’m living in a fantasy world and shit like that. Well, it’s a bunch of bull. I know I have a lot of online supporters ’cause I know what I see. I don’t know what it is people like about me so much but I’m just a normal guy living and enjoying life, that’s all I am really. I have a mixture of fans who enjoy my online stuff and I have fans who enjoy my music too which is awesome. So the haters trying to paint it like no one likes me is full of it. They’re probably just jealous is all.

This is why I keep doing what I do. Blogging and making music. I will keep doing both ’cause I enjoy it. I plan to get back into songwriting again this year ’cause I’m itching for new originals. I’m trying my best to get that internet album in the works. It’s gonna happen at some point here. I really want to get it done badly.

Thanks for all the fans and supporters… I’m not going away ever. I’m even honored & humbled that haters continue to follow me even if they don’t like me so I thank them too. I’m gonna keep doing what I do throughout 2017. People think I’m “controversial” and “offensive” but I never thought so, I just tell the truth but if people want to think so, I guess I’ll take it as a compliment. There will be much more coming from me this year, no doubt. I’m just gonna continue to be me no matter what people say, maybe that’s what people like about me? I don’t know.

I’m not trying to be a narcissist or anything but just trying to let the fans/supporters know that I’m paying attention to you and I care about you all. Rock on!

Happy New Year…

Happy new Year, y’all.

Instead of looking back seeing how 2016 was, I’m gonna move forward and see what the future holds.

My 2017 goals and resolutions, I hate doing these things but here goes: keep up with my fitness, stick with boxing and yoga throughout the year, eat a clean nutrition, get myself a full time job hopefully, keep playing my guitar and hopefully write more original music ’cause I need a new batch of songs out, get that internet album in the works. I would like to buy myself a new electric guitar this year too… planning to save up for a good one. I would like to try getting an electric guitar that is more expensive ’cause I always wanted a more pricier guitar for a more professional sound. I’ve always wanted a Gibson Les Paul and one day I’ll get one. Get myself full time work and I’ll start saving for a Gibson Les Paul that costs a couple of thousand.

I have other goals in mind but I would rather keep them to myself.

This year will be good, now that Trump is our next president, I predict the future will be better for everyone. Just give him time and give him a chance is all I ask for. Trump becoming our next president was the best thing that happened in 2016.

Merry Christmas, y’all, hope it’s a good one…

I just got these from the family earlier this morning. So yeah, no more video game buying for myself for a long while ’cause I have plenty of video games to keep me busy. I’ve been wanting to get Skyrim SE ever since it came out ’cause like a lot of people I’m a huge Skyrim nut myself.

I’ve also been wanting the new Deus Ex game. Got the “Hunger Games” blu-ray set… I’m a huge fan of the “Hunger Games” movie series. Saw all 4 “Hunger Games” movies in the theater. I didn’t buy any of them on BluRay yet ’cause I’ve been waiting for the Hunger Games bluray set and it’s finally here now that the movies are all done.

As for “The Conjuring 2”, I’m a huge fan of the Conjuring series too. They are horror films that are actually very scary! I’m enjoying them so far. “The Conjuring 2” is like one of the best films of 2016.

Merry Christmas to all my blog readers, social networking followers, fans/supporters and even the haters. Hope you’re having a good one. Rock on!

Thinking about getting a MIDI controller soon for my home recording studio, probably will…

For now, I just have a small and basic home recording studio setup. I have a computer, a Focusrite Scarlett audio interface, two studio monitors, a phantom powered Shure microphone, a pop filter for the mic and there’s one more piece of equipment that I’m missing. I think I might need a MIDI controller in which I will probably buy soon. I already have a MIDI controller but it’s an old piece of shit MIDI keyboard. I want to get something better and something that sounds a little more professional.

I’m not really good at playing the keyboard yet so I’ll probably just buy a small MIDI controller something like this. Not sure if this is the one I’ll get, just to give you an example.

I would like to get a MIDI controller so I can make my own backing tracks to my songs. Put drums and bass behind my songs. Would like to add other virtual instruments like violin, cello, piano and other keyboard sounds so I can make some creative music. I would like to write some songs with a classical orchestration in the background which would be pretty cool.

A lot lately, I’ve been studying music theory and doing my ear training ’cause being good at both of those is important if you want to do home recording with. I would like to get some instructional books on how to play the electric keyboards and MIDI controllers if I can find some.

I want to start writing and recording songs in 2017 so I can finally get that internet album in the works that I’ve been talking about. I just need to get my basic studio setup completed. Need to get a MIDI controller. That’s why I got an audio interface that has a MIDI controller hookup on it so I can one day get myself a MIDI controller. Like I said, I would like to make songs with drums and bass in the background of my guitar playing & singing but I want to have other instruments and sounds too. I need to learn how to play piano/keyboards and I will. I try but piano is hard, I’ll try to get back into it. I would like to write some piano ballads too.

I’ll get a new MIDI controller sometime in 2017.

Haters & trolls continues to be a huge problem online? Yeah, no doubt!!!

Some of you know that I’ve dealt with haters & trolls for many years. I still have that problem today! I’m not alone with that problem. Many other people who are pretty popular seems to have a problem with getting attacked by haters & trolls. It pretty much happens with everybody really. In all honesty though, it seems to me that haters & trolls only attack those on the internet whose web presences are pretty big. Whether you’re a musician, a blogger, you’re popular on social networking like twitter/facebook, a youtube star, a celebrity, etc. If you’re any of those then chances are, you’re gonna get attacked by haters & trolls.

Why do people with popular online web presences get haters & trolls? Is it because of the way they post online? Is it because people need to watch what they say so they won’t get others bashing them? In my opinion, no. It is not because of the way you use the internet or social networking. I think haters and trolls attack because they are jealous and envious of you about something. Why is it they are jealous of you? Maybe it’s because they know that you are living the life that they aren’t? They gotta be jealous of something like maybe they are mad ’cause they are jealous that you’re popular online. Maybe they’re jealous ’cause you’re living life to the fullest and you’re being happy. All that kind of stuff, ya know? If trolls weren’t jealous of anything about you then they wouldn’t be wasting all their time writing negative stuff about you. I am noticing that the only kind of people who gets a lot of haters & trolls are those whose web presences are big. If you’re not that popular online, then they won’t care about you.

How do you handle these haters & trolls? Well, some of you know that I’ve gotten really tough over them as of late! This is the internet. The world wide web so there is nothing you can do to stop their behaviors so the best thing to do is to ignore them completely. Don’t reply to them. That’s what I try to do anyways. I used to have a problem responding to trolls online but I don’t anymore. That’s what they want you to do, ya know? They intentionally try to piss you off and make you upset — they want to put you on defense ’cause it entertains them. They’re just bored people looking to entertain themselves. That’s how I see it, anyways.

Like the old saying goes, “Haters are gonna hate”. They have no reason to hate you at all. It’s not you, it’s them. People are crazy and there are a lot of assholes out there for sure so you gotta stay above them. This post isn’t just about myself, I’m trying to help others who have a problem with getting attacked by haters & trolls ’cause I know some others who go through the same thing. I just ignore them, delete their shit, block them, etc. They don’t like it but tough shit. As long as they’re writing nasty shit to me, I have the right to ignore them if I want to.

People attack me for everything I do. They attack me for my political views. They attack me for my music. They attack me for my fitness & bodybuilding. They attack me for being honest and real for the most part. The best thing to do is to not care what anyone thinks about you. Ignore their shit completely. I don’t really care if people don’t like me or not, my life is good and I’m proud of who I am.

Online bullying still is a huge problem. I agree with what the meme says above. When you try to tell them to stop their crap, they usually play innocent victim most of the time and they usually cry censorship. Happens everytime whenever I decide to call them out. Interesting how that works.

I’ve always believed that if you’re getting a lot of haters and trolls, you gotta be doing or saying something right and they don’t like it. A lot of people can’t take the truth, one thing to keep in mind. The trick is, I’ve gotten so used to people talking shit about me that it’s so easy to ignore now. People cyberbully you ’cause they enjoy it. Period. End of story.

Just continue to be yourself and be who you wanna be. Fuck what everyone thinks of you. I’ve had that attitude for a long time now and feel good about it!

I want to get this guitar amp sometime, looks pretty cool…

I came across this amp online that I pretty much fell in love with. The Line 6 Spider V 120, thanks to Guitar World magazine who introduced me to it. What’s pretty cool about it is that you can play through many different sounds through that amp. It has many different effects on it. It’s not just an electric guitar amp, you can use your acoustic/electric on it too.

There are so many things you can do with that amp. You can use that amp for home recording too ’cause it has USB on it. The amp is actually pretty affordable, $400 is not that bad at all.

http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/Spider5-120

Yeah, I already have a couple of electric guitar amps at home but it’s good to have more than one guitar and amp. It’s good to have a gear collection. I might think about buying this amp in 2017. I would like to buy myself another electric guitar too. For an electric guitar, I want to get a solid body and I’ll try to get one with a whammy bar on it ’cause I want to learn how to do whammy bar stuff.

I want to start buying more musicians gear. More pedals and things like that.
