Cool Video: The new “Evil Dead” red band trailer makes me stoked for the film even more, but I’m gonna miss Bruce…

What made the Evil Dead films so great was the character of Ash, played by the great, Bruce Campbell. Looks like Bruce wants to retire that character, for good. Maybe this is a test to see how the world of the “Evil Dead”, would do without the Ash character. Who knows, though. Maybe Bruce still has a small cameo as Ash in the new film, we’ll have to cross our fingers on that for now. I doubt Bruce is in the film at all, it seems he’d rather be behind the camera, instead of in front of it. The new Evil Dead trailer does look scary as hell. It’s really hard to make a gory as hell movie, and make ’em very scary at the same time. I’m looking forward to seeing how this movie turns out but I’m going to miss Ash’s funny catchphrases, like, “Hail to the King, baby” or “Groovy”. The original Evil Dead trilogy is a mix of horror and comedy, and looks like this new franchise, they are trying to stay away from the comedy stuff, and make it a scary movie.

Cool Video: The high quality version of “Evil Dead” trailer is here!

This was pretty much the same trailer they showed at, NYCC. Now it’s in glorious, HD!

While I still prefer, “Evil Dead 4”, with Bruce Campbell as Ash, the remake will do, I guess! The remake looks surprisingly great. Only thing missing though, that it needs the trees that attacks people, like the first one. Maybe the possessed trees are in the remake, they just haven’t shown them in the trailer, as a way to keep surprises. The Evil Dead remake looks pretty good, I’ll probably go see it.

Cool Video: Ready to see a bootlegged version of “The Evil Dead” trailer?

“The Evil Dead” remake is on it’s way to the big screen and the first teaser made it’s debut at the New York City Comic Con. “The Evil Dead” remake was produced by the same team who brought us the original films: Sam Raimi, Rob Tapert, and Bruce Campbell. Sam Raimi didn’t direct this time, but “Juno” writer, Diablo Cody, helped write the script.

I was skeptical of this remake at first, but to my surprise, I was blown away with what I saw, even for a bootleg trailer. Looks surprisingly good! Very similar to the original except it’s an updated version with today’s technology. Look like it’s gonna be a gore fest!

I’m sure the high quality version of the trailer will arrive online soon. Enjoy this, here.

Looks great! Can’t wait for the better quality version of the trailer!

The Brock’s Horror Film Pick #3: “Evil Dead II: Dead By Dawn”

Some of you may or may not know, that I am a pretty big Bruce Campbell and Evil Dead geek. I love the Evil Dead movies, all three of them, even “Army of Darkness” is great. I think “Evil Dead II’ is the best one of the trilogy. You can get scared, get grossed out, and laugh at the same time. A horror comedy, type of film. It’s a perfect film to watch around Halloween season. Chainsaws, demons, and memorable catch phrases like, “Groovy”.

A female version of Ash? Definitely sounds like Diablo Cody’s idea, all the way…

Sam Raimi, Bruce Campbell, Rob Tapert, and team are still moving forward with the, “Evil Dead” remake, as more details of the project keep coming. Deadline, exclusively reports that the film found it’s leading star. Ash, won’t be played by Bruce Campbell after all. The character will be female this time around, and actress, Jane Levy, is officially hired for the role. Nobody knows who she is. She is a new and young upcoming actress, who has two other films coming out this year. Jane will be playing a character named, Mia, in the Evil Dead reboot.

Read the report here, at Deadline.

Harry Knowles over at AICN, says he already read the script for the movie. He says the script is scary and pretty similar to the original, Evil Dead movie, the first one. It’s just a younger cast and different characters.

Read Harry’s review of the script, here….

A lot of Evil Dead fans are being skeptical of this, saying it will suck and shouldn’t be remade, but being the big Evil Dead geek that I am, I’ll give it a chance. I honestly think a female version of, Ash, is a good idea and might be pretty entertaining. I’m sure she’s going to say, “Groovy”, at least once, just to get the audience going.

Harry says in the talkback there’s no Ash cameo in the script, but maybe he’s lying so he wouldn’t give out spoiling surprises. Ash played by Bruce should be in the film for at least a small scene. Or, maybe Bruce will get a cameo in the film playing a different character, who knows.

Hopefully, the remake will stay true to it’s low budget, B movie like style. I love the Evil Dead movies, all 3 of them.

Report: “Evil Dead” remake gets the greenlight by Sony Pictures and Film District…

Announced earlier today, Sony Pictures and Film District have teamed up with Ghost House to make, the “Evil Dead” remake. Sam Raimi, Rob Tapert and Bruce Campbell will help produce the film. Diablo Cody had a hand in re-writing some of the script.

Read the full press release, here.

They should start with the casting soon, now that they finally found a studio. Now the question is, who is going to play Ash? Will Bruce Campbell reprise the role? If Bruce only signed on to produce the film and not act, he probably isn’t going to return, but you never know. Maybe they’re keeping his return a secret for now? They’re probably gonna go for a younger actor to play Ash.

Honestly, I don’t care who plays Ash, as long this film stays true to the originals, I’ll go see it. It still needs to be a low budget B-movie like the first two.

You know what? Since found footage movies like “Paranormal Acitivity” are getting so popular, I think it would be interesting if they would take that direction.

It would be great if Bruce returns as the lead! So I hope he does sign on. I love the Evil Dead films and a Bruce Campbell fan as well. If Bruce doesn’t star in the leading role, I hope he’ll get a cameo for a different role at least. There can’t be an Evil Dead movie without him!

Netflix Pick (PS3): My Name Is Bruce

Last night, I got so bored that I decided to take the night off watching 24 on Netflix and decided to watch a streamable movie. I saw that this film, Bruce Campbell’s “My Name Is Bruce” streamable so I watched this film. It’s a low budget indie film directed by Bruce Campbell himself. As some of you know, I am a huge Bruce Campbell fan. Love the guy’s work whether it’s movies or TV. I haven’t been watching his new show, “Burn Notice” but I plan to start catching up with it soon. I just enjoy the guy’s acting style. I also admire how he stays away from blockbuster hits and prefers to star the leading roles in low budget B movies.

In this film, it stars Bruce Campbell, as he plays himself as a character. It’s about four teenagers from a small town of Gold Lick, who vandalize a  19th Century Cemetery of Chinese laborers. One of the demons wake up from the cemetery and tries to kill the teenagers.

One of the teenagers, whose name is Jeff, escaped from the Demon and he goes to his favorite actor, Bruce Campbell for help. At first, Bruce Campbell refuses because he believes demons are not real and they are just in the movies. When Bruce finally realizes that the Demon is real, he finally decided to help Jeff and the people in Gold Lick. Jeff thinks Bruce Campbell is really Ash and tries to get Bruce to buy a double barrel shotgun and a chainsaw like in “Army Of Darkness”. Again, Bruce refuses and stays out of his Ash character. The whole movie is about a legendary actor, Bruce Campbell battling against this Demon inspired from the “Evil Dead” movies.

Enough with the plot. On with this review. Now, you shouldn’t watch this movie if you haven’t seen any of Bruce Campbell’s flicks from the past. This film is clearly for the die hard fans of Bruce Campbell, the actor. Throughout the film there is at least a few references of every film he has done from the past. If you haven’t seen any of Bruce Campbell’s film, then you wouldn’t like this movie at all.

While the movie sounds cheesy and goofy as hell, that’s the way I like Bruce Campbell. Bruce has got a weird and messed up imagination when it comes to storytelling. When he does horror films, he’s a genius at making horror films both funny as hell and scary as hell. This movie is more of a strict comedy then a horror film though.

There are scenes in this movie where Bruce actually plays Ash a little bit, like the part where he is drunk at his camper home. He still plays the Ash character pretty well despite his age. The movie was funny and enjoyable. The acting and the writing was pretty bad, but hey it’s a B Movie. Most B movies are like that. In most B movies, the special effects, acting and music are pretty amateurish. Except for Bruce, who did the best acting job, of course. Since there is a new “Evil Dead” re-do in the works, I think Bruce still has it what it takes to play Ash again.

“My Name Is Bruce” is a short 1 hr. and 20 minute film, but this is a great film for all die hard Bruce Campbell fans to geek over. Check it out.

Report: Update on new “Evil Dead” film, Diablo Cody wrote script but Sam Raimi, Rob Tapert and Bruce Campbell will still be a part of it…

Ghost House Pictures gave us new details on the new “Evil Dead” movie that was leaked to the web the other day. Diablo Cody, who won an Oscar for her script, “Juno” and she wrote the horror film, “Jennifer’s Body”, have written the script for the new “Evil Dead” remake. Yes, Ghost House Pictures which is a film company owned by Sam Raimi confirmed this will be a remake of the first “Evil Dead” film.

Sam Raimi won’t be directing this one, they are tapping Fede Alvarez, to write and direct the remake, but Diablo Cody is helping out re-writing the drafts. Sam Raimi, Rob Tapert, and Bruce Campbell will be producing the film.

No castings for the “Evil Dead” remake have been announced yet, they still didn’t even say if Bruce Campbell is going to reprise his role as Ash. I hope Bruce will return to the leading role ’cause it’s not an Evil Dead movie without him, in my opinion. They probably are going to get someone else to play Ash.

I don’t know what to say about this now. I’m kind of excited and disappointed at the same time. I’m excited that Sam, Rob, and Bruce will be a part of it but disappointed that it’s a remake. I was hoping they would continue the story after, “Army of Darkness”. At the end of “Army Of Darkness”, it seems they left open a 4th movie, ending the movie with Bruce fighting this demon at the S-mart store.

I’m a huge Evil Dead and Bruce Campbell fan. I hope they don’t screw this film up.

Deadline, reports.

BREAKING NEWS: “Evil Dead 4” is it really happening? Seems that production has already started!!

Huge movie news has been announced today! Dread Central horror film website, was the first to announce that longtime editor for director Sam Raimi, Bob Murawski headed out to Detroit to begin work on the 4th Evil Dead film. Look like Sam Raimi gave him the “go”.Bob says the 4th movie will be much like the first two. Indie and low budget.

Bruce Campbell himself was quick to respond to it on his twitter page. He said he’ll believe it when he sees it. Plus, he pointed out that it could be a remake of the first one, not the 4th one of the trilogy.

Dread Central, reports.

I hope it isn’t a remake. I hope it’s the 4th one of the trilogy. I’m sure the 4th movie won’t be a high budgeted special effects movie ’cause that would ruin the Evil Dead series. It needs to be low budget with hand held cameras like the first two.

That would be badass if Bruce returns as Ash. I hope Sam and Bruce will re-team for Evil Dead 4, I’ll be keeping an eye on this news.

Report: Bruce Campbell is planning horror film full of horror movie icons much like, “The Expendables”…

Former “Evil Dead” star Bruce Campbell said he saw, “The Expendables”, and Stallone’s new action film just gave Bruce an idea for a movie of his own. Bruce revealed that he is working on a script where he plans to make a horror film full of huge horror movie icons. He came up with Kane Hodder who played Jason Voorhees in the original “Friday the 13th” movies and he wants Robert Englund as well. He’s making it into a horror comedy of course. Read more on the article here.

Who else should Bruce have in the cast of this all star, horror movie?

I’d say he sould get Brad Dourif, who voiced Chucky in the “Child’s Play” films. He should also get Pamela Springsteen, who played Angela Baker in the “Sleepaway Camp” movies. Sigourney Weaver should definitely get a role since she was in “Alien”. Definitely Doug Bradley from the Hellraiser flicks. Maybe one of the Michael Myers actors from the earlier Halloween movies, ’cause Michael Myers had too many actors. Julian Sands from “Warlock”. Tobin Bell from the “Saw” series.

Finally, horror legend, Christopher Lee should get a role ’cause that dude is still alive.

If anybody out there can think of more, feel free to name some.
