Listeners have been trashing her vocals in a negative way in this song and I wanted to write in for her defense. I enjoy the vocals. It’s unique. Do every female singer have to sing perfect like Mariah Carey or Celine Dion?
Not everyone have to be a profesional vocalist. People don’t have to be the greatest singer in the world to have a passion of what you do. Vocals aren’t important in my opinion. I’m more about melody, the lyrics, and the song itself. I don’t care about the singing and that’s the truth.
I think Scarlett did a great job with “Falling Down” and I’m itching to hear more of her stuff. People just don’t understand the unique quality in her music. I would think that the people who didn’t like her singing in these songs don’t understand the music of Tom Waits.
Tom Waits vocals were never all that perfect and he sounds weird when he sings, Scarlett is supposed to have that same personality. Not everybody have to be a Mariah Carey or Celine Dion. Because truth be told none of those perfect singers can’t really sing for real anyway.
I respect what Scarlett is doing here and I look forward to her album when it comes out in May. She’s not a bad vocalist. My understanding is when people are trashing an artists singing, they are grabbing the listeners attention whether you like the artist or not.
Again, not everybody have to be good vocalist if you look at guys like Neil Young, Hendrix, Mick Jagger, Billy Corgan, etc. Singers who don’t even have a powerful vocal range, they just sing for the enjoyment ’cause they enjoy doing it.
I’m not great at singing vocals to my own songs but I do it anyway ’cause I enjoy doing it.
