2015 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame nominations announced…

Finally, Stevie Ray Vaughn got a nomination. If he gets ignored for an induction, then I think I will be boycotting the Hall of Fame. SRV should have got an induction a long time ago.

You can only vote for 5 so I’m gonna vote for: SRV, Lou Reed, The Smiths, Joan Jett & The Blackhearts and War. I think they are definitely worthy!

http://rockhall.com/voting/2015-rock-hall-nominees-fan-vote/

So far SRV, Green Day and NIN are in the lead, though. Which doesn’t surprise me.

Some of you may ask, why did Green Day get the nomination? In order to be eligible a band/artist must have their first album that was released 25 years before. Welp, Green Day’s first album was released in 1990 so the album will hit 25 years in 2015 so that makes the band officially eligible. It may not seem like it but Green Day have been in the music business for years. I used to like Green Day, just not anymore. All they play is power chords and Billie Joe’s singing is amateur at best.

I don’t agree with Green Day getting inducted this soon when there are tons of other rock acts that are more deserving of a nomination like: Jethro Tull, Deep Purple, Ted Nugent, Megadeth, Iron Maiden, Yes, etc.

I wasn’t much of NIN fails either and I think it’s too soon for them.

I can now understand why people call this, “The Rock and Roll Hall of Shame” ’cause it’s true.

Nirvana and Joan Jett perform “Teen Spirit” @ the Hall of Fame…

Here is Nirvana and Joan Jett performing together for the song “Smells Like Teen Spirit”. Bootleg video but you can still hear it pretty good. I really liked their performance quite a lot. Joan’s voice has similarities to Kurt’s. Joan is still sexy as hell looking and I would totally date her, don’t care how old she is now. I’ve been a Joan Jett fan for years and glad she collaborated with Nirvana. I think Nirvana and Joan Jett should go on tour together or play a few shows to play a full concert performing Nirvana songs. That’ll be pretty sweet. I doubt more shows with Joan is planned but ya never know. Nirvana seems to be collaborating with other artists lately so you may never know what they’re planning.

It sucks that Kurt is not around. If Kurt was still alive, I’m sure he would have been on stage instead of Joan and Lorde.

15 Artists/bands who are deserving an induction into the “Rock and Roll Hall of Fame”…

We talk about legendary bands like Rush and Kiss finally making it into the Hall of Fame after years of being ignored. Well, there are still a handful of other bands/artists that have been getting ignored by the Hall of Fame too. I might of done this list before a long time ago but it doesn’t hurt to do it again.

Here are 10 big artists/bands that keep getting snubbed in the “Rock and Roll Hall of Fame” yearly:

Check out the inductee list, here… enjoy…

  • Stevie Ray Vaughn – Isn’t it amazing that a legendary blues rock guitarist like SRV is still getting ignored by the Hall of Fame??? This is not a true Hall of Fame if you do not include SRV. This guy had a legendary career.
  • Ozzy Osbourne (solo) – Black Sabbath is already in the Hall of Fame but Ozzy’s solo career isn’t yet. Ozzy’s solo career is worthy of an induction, absolutely.
  • Deep Purple – When will Deep Purple ever get their time? They keep getting nominated every year but they keep getting snubbed of an induction. Their time is coming.
  • Iron Maiden – Maiden totally deserves an induction. The Hall of Fame have been strict on inducting metal bands but they are slowly getting there since they inducted Black Sabbath, Metallica, etc. Maybe Maiden will get their time too. I love Iron Maiden!
  • Megadeth – No matter what you think of Dave Mustaine and Megadeth they had a legendary career. They are still going too. They accomplished so much in the music industry. Megadeth totally deserves it!
  • Ted Nugent – You can hate his right-wing politics all you want to but it can’t be denied that this man is a rock n’ roll legend! Come on Hall of Fame! Give him his time already! He’s got more great songs than “Cat Scratch Fever” and “Stranglehold”. This man is a rock n’ roll genius!
  • YES – It’s incredible that this progressive rock band isn’t even in the Hall of Fame yet. They are famous for their “Roundabout” song.
  • Jethro Tull – I love Jethro Tull! Ian Anderson and the guys totally deserve it!
  • Motorhead – Another band that I can’t understand why they are not in the Hall of Fame yet. Lemmy rules. \m/
  • “Weird Al” Yankovic – Love Weird Al or hate him, he had a huge hand in helping to keep rock n’ roll alive. A lot of the rock artists he parodies didn’t even know they were famous until Weird Al came around. He parodied songs from every rock n’ roll band you can think of. Al Yankovic totally deserves it!
  • Billy Idol – How come this legendary rocker, Billy Idol not in the Hall of Fame yet? This guy had so many hit songs: “White Wedding”, “Rebel Yell”, “Mony Mony”, “Dancing With Myself”, etc. I fuckin’ love Billy Idol, give him his time already!!!
  • Dire Straits – They were the ones who helped MTV the music video station become huge in the 80’s with their hit song, “Money For Nothing”. I think that alone is worthy of an induction.
  • Joe Satriani: Believe it or not, the Satch is eligible for a Hall of Fame induction and he’s totally worthy.
  • Twisted Sister – Dee Snider’s Twisted Sister was a big deal for MTV back in the 80’s.
  • Pat Benatar – Why isn’t this “Hit Me With Your Best Shot” and “Love Is a Battlefield” singer in the Hall of Fame yet? She also influenced rock n’ roll in a great way. She’s totally deserving!

Future rock n’ roll hall of famers (bands/artists who are not yet eligible for 25 years): Pearl Jam, The Smashing Pumpkins, Stone Temple Pilots, Alice In Chains, Oasis, Radiohead, the Foo Fighters, Weezer

Congrats to Kiss, Nirvana, Peter Gabriel and other Hall of Fame inductees for 2014!!!

If Kurt was still alive, I’m sure he would have been honored to be inducted along with Kiss and Peter Gabriel. Too bad he’s not around to see this. I’m sure Dave, Krist, and Pat will accept this honor on his behalf. Will the surviving members of Nirvana perform? I’m sure they will.

Love Kiss or hate them, they deserve this honor too. Kiss has been ignored from the Hall of Fame for years and they finally made it in. I love Kiss too but only their earlier stuff. I’m not into Kiss’s new music too much but I love all of their classic songs, though. Will Ace Frehley be there to reunite with them? I’m sure this induction will be for all members of Kiss over the years.

I love Peter Gabriel’s music as “Us” and “So” are two of my favorite albums of all time. His induction is worthy for sure.

Congrats also go out to Cat Stevens, Linda Ronstadt, and Hall & Oates. Another famous backing band gets the induction and that’s the E Street Band, Springsteen’s backing band. So this means Bruce’s wife Patty and Little Steven Van Zandt are now Hall of Famers. The same goes for Max Weinberg and Clarence Clemons.

The next Hall of Fame show will be interesting for sure.

I’m more interested on who’s going to induct, Nirvana. Butch Vig, Frances Bean, the guys from the Meat Puppets? Anyone of them, a possibility.

See the full inductee list, here.

Nirvana nominated for possible “Rock and Roll Hall of Fame” induction!!!

In order to be eligible for a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction, an artist or band must have their first album out for 25 years. Well, Nirvana’s first album, “Bleach”, was released 24 years ago. The next Hall of Fame won’t be until 2014 so this is what helps get Nirvana the nomination. There’s obviously going to be a lot of controversy over this ’cause as you all know, Nirvana isn’t for everyone. Nirvana certainly deserves this honor and if Kurt was still alive, I’m sure he would be all for it too. Nirvana means so much to me. They’ve pretty much helped change my life. Their songwriting and musicianship may have been pretty questionable — Kurt may not have been the greatest singer and guitarist but you don’t need to be to write killer and amazing songs! Most importantly, Nirvana were the greatest live performers. It was their live shows that really mattered. Kurt may have dressed up in drag onstage quite a lot and he smashed a lot of instruments but that’s what made him amazing. He wasn’t afraid to be different on stage.

If Nirvana wins the induction and they probably will, it’ll be interesting to see who is going to induct them. Hopefully, it won’t end up being Courtney Love. I don’t think she’ll be any part of the induction ’cause she never got along with Dave and Krist over the years. Courtney and Nirvana always had a big feud over legal rights, and all that bullshit. I think Frances Bean Cobain (Kurt’s daughter) should induct them or maybe the Nirvana producer, Butch Vig. Maybe the guys from the Meat Puppets — Cris and Curt Kirkwood should induct them too. Any of those could be a possibility.

To see the full nomination list for 2014 Hall of Fame, check it out, here.

Kiss got nominated again this year but don’t get your hopes up if they’ll actually make it… they could get snubbed again for the 20th time, I lost count.

I can see Peter Gabriel winning his nomination. Hall and Oates for sure. The Zombies I would like to see make it in. Deep Purple and Yes both deserve their time. Linda Ronstadt deserves her time as well!

I have a feeling they’ll probably end up inducting another rap artist and if they do, they should give it to the N.W.A. They are more deserving than LL Cool J.

That’s all. Just thought I’d give you my quick thoughts on the Hall of Fame.

Kev

Does rap & hip hop belong in the Hall of fame? I’d say yes, absolutely!!!!

The more rap groups & rap artists get inducted into the Hall of Fame, the more people will complain about it. People will criticize the Hall of Fame, saying they shouldn’t induct rap artists because people think they aren’t rock n’ roll. So the question we’re all wondering, is rap rock n’ roll? Yes it is. The Hall of Fame are doing the right thing and they know how music works better than everyone. With that said, they’re pretty educated with music more than any of us. Pretty much most popular genres are rock n’ roll. Pop, dance, hip hop, R&B, disco, metal, blues, etc. All that stuff is rock n’ roll. If you really think rap isn’t rock n’ roll, then that shows how uneducated people are with music.

Rap originated from rock n’ roll, that’s where it got it’s start. Do some reading on this for the rap & hip hop genre. For example, this little write up, here, did a good job explaining why rap is considered rock n’ roll.

I’ve explained it before guys. Rock n’ roll doesn’t just have to be music with just guitar playing and guitar solos. Rock n’ roll is the roots of all genres of music. That’s why the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inducts artists of every genre. They’ve been inducting artists of every genre ever since the Hall of Fame started in 1986.

James Brown and Ray Charles may not be strictly rock n’ roll, but they belong in the hall of fame. James Brown may not have been a rap artist but he was pretty close to it, anyway. A lot of Brown’s songs were pretty dancy and hip hop sounding a little bit, but his music had a rock n’ roll feeling. Thing is, you can still write rock n’ roll songs, but in different styles. As I said before, it doesn’t just have to be guitar playing with rock n’ roll songwriting.

With that being said, Public Enemy, is deserving of this induction. They are hip hop legends for sure. They made history. I’m not a big hip hop fan anymore like I used to be when I was a kid but I did hear a few Public Enemy albums. I used to own a few of them. Hip hop is rock n’ roll, just a different style to it.

Before hating on the Hall of Fame on how they do their inductions, you should do a little researching. Educate yourself. Rap and Rock n’ roll do belong together, doesn’t matter what you think of it.

Congratulations go out to Rush, who are the new Rock and Roll Hall of Famers!!!

Well guys, they finally made it! Rush is finally in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame! After years of fans complaining of them not making it in, the Hall of Fame finally heard us and gave us what we want. I agree that Rush deserves this and they should have been inducted ever since the Hall of Fame started, a long time ago. The Hall of Fame have never been progressive rock/metal friendly at all. They are starting to give progressive rock and metal a little more respect, as they inducted Metallica, last year, but they are still falling behind on legendary progressive and metal bands.

Other inductees who made it in 2013 are Heart, Randy Newman, Public Enemy, Donna Summer, Albert King, Lou Adler, and Quincy Jones.

See the link, here.

I’m disappointed that Deep Purple and Joan Jett got the snub, but there’s always next year.

What other progressive rock and metal bands deserve an induction? Well, other than Deep Purple… Megadeth certainly deserves in. Jethro Tull too. Dream Theater, maybe? Iron Maiden, most definitely. Kiss, of course. There are too many that deserves in.

Kev

Now YOU get to pick the “Rock and Roll – Hall of Fame” inductees…

For the first time ever, the Rock and Roll – Hall of Fame is allowing the fans to get their voice heard on who they want to get inducted. If you want Rush to make it in 2013, this is your chance to finally help the band.

I too voted for Rush, of course, I also voted: Deep Purple, Heart, Joan Jett & The Blackhearts, and Donna Summer.

See the poll, here.

Report: Rush finally gets nominated for “Rock and Roll Hall of Fame” after years of getting snubbed…

The legendary prog rock band, Rush, have been getting snubbed for a nomination at the “Rock and Roll Hall of Fame” every year, but this time, they finally got one! While I’m happy that Rush finally got the nomination, don’t be surprised if the voters don’t pick them to get inducted though. I’m not getting my hopes up yet, but it would be awesome if they got the induction ’cause they deserve this more than anyone.

I’m also happy that Deep Purple finally got a nod too ’cause they’ve been getting ignored by the Hall of Fame as well. I hope both bands will get it. I also hope Joan Jett, Albert King, and Heart will get it too. Donna Summer have been getting nominated every year but she never got the induction. Hopefully, she’ll get it this time in honor of her death earlier this year.

I hope the Hall of Fame will do the right thing and induct Rush this time, ’cause I’m a huge fan of them as well. I own several of their albums in my collection and have seen them live in concert once.

More on the story, here.

Report: Rush’s, Alex Lifeson, finally responds about getting snubbed from the Hall of Fame…

Do you think the guys in the band, Rush, are upset about getting ignored by the Hall of Fame constantly? Nope. Think again. The band seems pretty cool with it. Alex Lifeson, spoke his thoughts about it to Rollingstone magazine, and he says, the band simply doesn’t care. He says, the band was honored more awards that are more meaningful than the Hall Of Fame.

If the band ever get nominated, the band wouldn’t turn down an induction, ’cause simply put, they don’t want to be rude (like Axl Rose).

Read Alex’s thoughts, here.

I’m sure Rush would make their way into the Hall of Fame. If not? Who cares is right! Their legacy is bigger than the Hall of Fame, so who needs ’em? Rush rules. Always loved them myself! I saw them in concert one year too.
