Congrats to the new Rock n’ roll Hall of Famers…

I’m pretty happy with all the inductees for the next Rock N’ Roll Hall of Fame. Yes is finally in which is about time! I’m a huge fan of Yes. They’re one of my favorite rock n’ roll bands of all time!

I stopped liking Pearl Jam but I will always love their first three albums ’cause I thought “Ten”, “Vs.” and “Vitalogy” were pretty amazing records. Still love those records now. Their newer stuff? Not so much but Pearl Jam are legends and they accomplished so much. That can’t be denied. They’re the start of the grunge movement in the 90’s.

Tupac I do like but I don’t listen to him that much but I should. I respect his legacy and what he did to the hip hop industry. Yes, “hip hop” is rock n’ roll, get over it.

Joan Baez, I’m not a big fan of either but respect her legacy and what she did to the industry.

I do love ELO and Journey for sure. 2017 Hall of Fame is pretty decent this year; although, I’m disappointed that Steppenwolf got snubbed this year but there’s always 2018 for them.

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame nominations announced, will the band Yes finally get the induction this time? Please!

Well the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame nominees for next year in 2017 has been announced. The prog rock band that I love, Yes, has been nominated again but will Yes actually get the induction this time? Hopefully! If Yes gets snubbed of the induction again then I’ll be done with the Hall of Fame completely, I think. The band Yes better get in there ’cause that band is so great. If you love songs like “Roundabout” and “Owner of a Lonely Heart” which both are great songs, they have way better songs than those. I’ve heard a lot of their albums through Apple Music streaming (which I stopped subscribing to). Yes totally deserves an induction for sure so hopefully they do get in this time. *crosses fingers*

Also deserving on this list are: Steppenwolf, J. Geils Band, The Cars, The Zombies, ELO and Journey for sure. I love Janet Jackson too so I guess she deserves it.

Pearl Jam and Jane’s Addiction? Yes both of them deserve to make it in too.

You can only vote for 5 choices so I went for: Yes, Steppenwolf, The Cars, J. Geils Band and Janet Jackson.

Yeah, I love Janet’s music. Grew up listening to her stuff. Still am a fan of her. I can’t listen to loud guitar music all the time. Sometimes I gotta listen to some pop music and rap music too.

Steve Miller tells the truth about the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, the Black Keys get upset… what about Freedom of Speech?

Steve Miller took part of a backstage interview at the Rock and Roll of Fame show and Steve gave his honest opinion which he had the right to. I listened to what he had to say about the Hall of Fame and I’ll admit that I agree with him. After thinking about it a while, the Hall of Fame is pretty much a joke, I’ll admit it. That’s what Steve Miller said and Dan Auerbach of the Black Keys regrets inducting Steve Miller into the Hall of Fame ’cause Dan said Steve’s comments was “negative” and “hurtful” to the industry.

After reading this article, it looks to me that Rollingstone is siding with the Black Keys on this issue ’cause why? Jann Wenner is the founder/CEO of Rollingstone and he also put the Rock N’ Roll Hall of Fame together. Wenner has a huge hardon for the Black Keys, always did so no surprise there.

http://www.rollingstone.com/music/features/black-keys-we-regret-inducting-steve-miller-after-rock-hall-insults-20160413?page=2

I think to me since that the Black Keys wants nothing to do with Steve Miller all of a sudden… they sound like they’re jealous of Steve’s success and legacy. Nothing more, nothing less. I mean… look how many hit songs that Steve Miller has got? Steve Miller has written tons of hit songs that still get played on FM radio… songs that we know and love like: “The Joker”, “Take Your Money and Run”, “Jungle Love”, “Fly Like An Eagle”, “Jet Airliner”, “Abracadabra”, etc.

How many hit songs do you hear of the Black Keys on the radio??? “Lonely Boy” maybe? That’s about it? The Black Keys are an overrated band anyways. I lost interest in them a long time ago.

Whatever happened to freedom of speech these days? It seems like each time someone wants to make an honest opinion, they’re automatically looked at as an asshole. That’s what Gene Simmons is going through as well.

It sounds like Steve Miller is regretting getting inducted. Fuck the Hall of Fame ’cause they snubbed the band YES again so I think I’m done with them.

On top of that, the Black Keys are fucking hypocrites accusing Steve of being hurtful and “negative” to the industry when Patrick Carney says hurtful things to Justin Bieber and his fans. So take that Dan, douchebag.

Why is Ritchie Blackmore banned from attending Rock and Roll Hall of fame Ceremony? Still not getting along with Deep Purple???

https://www.facebook.com/ritchieblackmore/?target_post=10153743892090020

Why is it that when a legendary band gets inducted to the Hall of Fame, there is always this dispute on which members will be inducted or who will attending? Keep in mind this isn’t the first time this happened with legendary bands. It happened with the Sex Pistols, Guns N’ Roses, Kiss and maybe a few others. I think it shows people that legendary bands aren’t all that special and perfect as some would want to believe. These musicians are human and they have feelings too in other words these bands are the real deal. They like to look at the world in an honest direction is what it is.

Ritchie Blackmore has been banned from attending the Hall of Fame ceremony. It isn’t because he doesn’t want to… I’m sure he wants to attend but he isn’t allowed to ’cause Deep Purple aren’t allowing Ritchie to attend. Is it because Ritchie and Ian Gillan still hate each other and still feuding? Sure seems like it. It is really strange though, how Ritchie is not allowed to attend but David Coverdale has been giving the green light.

I’m in agreement with most fans that it isn’t Deep Purple without Blackmore ’cause Blackmore wrote most of the bands most recognizable riffs and hits especially songs like “Smoke on the Water” and “Highway Star”. Ritchie was the one who wrote those two songs and the band wants to act like Ritchie is a nobody? Anyway, Ian Gillan has always been an asshole and his response to the Hall of Fame induction is all that there is to know about the man.

That’s the thing about legendary bands, ya know? People think famous bands are always going to be so positive and lovable but not really. A lot of legendary musicians have huge egos and stuff, ya know? That’s the thing with rock n’ roll bands, there’s always gonna be big feuds, fights and arguments… happens with all bands. That’s just the way it is.

As far as Deep Purple goes, I was only a fan of the Blackmore era. The Steve Morse era? No thanks…

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees announced!!!

The 2016 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame has been announced. Deep Purple, Cheap Trick, Steve Miller, Chicago and the N.W.A. has all been inducted.

I’m very happy for Deep Purple and Cheap Trick ’cause I’m a huge fan of both of those bands. As for Deep Purple, I’m only a fan of the Ritchie Blackmore era, the Steve Morse era not so much. I’m glad Deep Purple finally got the induction which is long overdue. The question you have to ask is will Ritchie Blackmore finally reunite with Deep Purple to accept the induction with the band and possibly perform with them at the show? Who knows, we’ll have to wait to see what Ritchie himself says. I’m sure Ritchie will be there to accept the induction with the band but performing with them again is all up to him. I would love to see Ritchie perform “Smoke On the Water” and “Highway Star” with them again. That would be fucking cool! Only Ritchie could play those two songs well.

I was never much of a fan of Chicago ’cause I never really listened to them too much. I was never much of a fan of Steve Miller but I heard his songs all over the radio all the time. Steve Miller is a hit maker no doubt!

I’m happy for the NWA getting the induction ’cause agree with it or not, they are deserving of the Hall of Fame.

Sad to see that the prog rock band, YES got snubbed again but hopefully they’ll get their time for the next one.

Ian Gillan explains the real reason for the “Hall of Fame” of not inducting Deep Purple yet… pretty interesting really…

Ian Gillan who is the frontman for Deep Purple, explains the reason why the band hasn’t gotten inducted into the Rock N’ Roll Hall of Fame. Ian says that the Rock Hall committee claims that Deep Purple are a one hit wonder band which is why they keep snubbing Deep Purple of an induction.

http://classicrock.teamrock.com/news/2015-10-15/deep-purple-gillan-has-no-respect-for-rock-hall

Deep Purple, one-hit wonders really? The band had plenty of hit songs that are always being played on FM classic rock radio all the damn time. I don’t listen to FM radio anymore but when I do, I always hear “Smoke On the Water” or “Highway Star”.

http://www.amazon.com/The-Very-Best-Deep-Purple/dp/B00004SWDU

Deep Purple had a very successful career and they are still going today. Still making music and selling out arena shows all over the world. Their induction is well-deserving for sure and it’s a shame that the Hall of Fame can’t see their success. Are they really that blind and ignorant?

Why Janet Jackson is totally worthy for the Rock N’ Roll Hall of Fame…

I know this choice of a nomination is kind of questionable but Janet Jackson is totally worthy. Her music is rock n’ roll all the way whether you want to agree with it or not. She’s more pop/rock than anything but she’s still rock n’ roll. Even though she’s mostly pop/rock, she still has some songs that has some great guitar playing on them with songs like “Black Cat” and “If”, hear the tracks below for a little flashback.

Janet is totally worthy. The Jackson 5 and Michael Jackson’s solo career is in the Hall of Fame but not yet Janet but she will be soon, though. I think she’s gonna get the induction for sure.

I’ve listened to all of her albums and I would say her best albums are “Rhythm Nation 1814”, “Janet” (1993), and her newest album, “Unbreakable”. I enjoyed all of Janet’s albums but those three are my favorite.

I’ve always been a fan since high school and still am a fan of hers today. She had a successful career and her music is fun and enjoyable career. She’s had a very positive career for the most part. She was never those type of artists who got herself into any celebrity gossip and didn’t bring her personal life into things too much. Except the only controversy that she got herself into was her wardrobe malfunction at the Superbowl with Justin Timberlake but that’s about it and that isn’t a big deal.

Janet Jackson is a great artist and accomplished a lot on a positive note. She always had my respect. Her music is fun and enjoyable to listen to. I’m a big fan of all the Jacksons. We need more of Janet and less Kanye West.

15 Bands & Artists who STILL need an induction in to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame…

Every year when the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame comes around, I would usually compile a list of bands and artists that still need to get inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ceremony in Cleveland. Sometimes the lists turn out a little different but I don’t mind doing this list again…

Here’s a top fifteen list of legendary bands & artists that hasn’t gotten inducted yet but SHOULD:

  • Deep Purple: Hopefully the next Hall of Fame will be their time!
  • Yes: The legendary prog rock band who’s famous for songs “Roundabout” and “Owner of a Lonely Heart”. Hopefully the next Hall of Fame will be their time as well and I think it will be.
  • Billy Idol:  This guy hasn’t even gotten a nomination yet either. I don’t think he’s ever gotten one and I think it’s time that Billy Idol get inducted? His career is absolutely worthy!
  • Midnight Oil: Another band that I can think of that is worthy of the Hall of Fame and they are eligible too. Pete Garrett is a kick ass rock singer and this band is definitely worthy.
  • Ozzy (solo career): Black Sabbath is already in, what about Ozzy solo?
  • Pat Benatar: The singer known for songs like “Hit Me With Your Best Shot” and “Heartbreaker”. I fuckin’ LOVE Pat Benatar and it’s insane that she isn’t in yet.
  • Jethro Tull: Need I say more? Ian Anderson and the guys are definitely worthy!
  • Joe Satriani: Believe it or not, the Satch is eligible as he has been around for years. He’s definitely worthy as he had one helluva career!
  • Phish: The Grateful Dead are in the Hall of Fame but not Phish. Now there is something wrong with that!
  • Emerson, Lake and Palmer:  It’s also pretty insane that this band isn’t in yet ’cause their album, “Brain Salad Surgery” is a masterpiece and one of my favorite albums of all time.
  • Dire Straits: Huh??? Their hit video “Money for Nothing” which changed music video history is not good enough to get the band inducted? WOW!
  • Sammy Hagar (solo): Van Halen is in but Sammy’s legendary solo career isn’t. He had a very successful and legendary solo career. His video for “I Can’t Drive 55” also helped change the history of MTV.
  • Iron Maiden: One of the greatest metal bands of all time is definitely worthy. It’s a shame that the Hall of Fame doesn’t give much respect to metal.
  • Slayer: Enough said?
  • Motorhead: Yeah, I think they so deserve it.

I’m sure the list can keep going and going.

Laurie Anderson says David Bowie thinks “Lulu” was Lou Reed’s best work and I agree…

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame had their ceremony over the weekend, just last Saturday. Laurie Anderson who is Lou Reed’s wife/widow gave a speech at the Hall of Fame in honor of her late husband who just got inducted.

While she spoke, she revealed that David Bowie told her that Lou Reed’s final album with Metallica, “Lulu” was his best work. Bowie said to Laurie, “Listen, this is Lou’s greatest work. This is his masterpiece. Just wait, it will be like Berlin. It will take everyone a while to catch up.”

When Bowie mentioned the album, “Berlin” that was Lou’s solo album released in 1973. When that album first came out, that album wasn’t received well by critics and fans either. Today, “Berlin” is considered a masterpiece.

Bowie is saying the same thing will happen to “Lulu” and I agree.

Music lovers today may have a hard time enjoying the Lou Reed and Metallica album, “Lulu” but give it time… 10 to 20 years from now, everyone will look at it as a masterpiece. Sometimes it does take 20 years to get people to realize how good of an album it is.

I’ve always thought, “Lulu” was a work of genius ever since I heard it. I couldn’t stop listening to the album. The music was really powerful and so were the lyrics.

When people shit on the album, they just don’t understand “art”. The music on “Lulu” wasn’t made to entertain people. They were meant to tell stories and create art, the way I look at it. I thought “Lulu” was a beautiful record. Despite the negative criticism of the album, it made no. 36 on the Billboard 200 so that’s pretty successful.

While I do love the album myself dearly, “Junior Dad” was the best song off of it, though. Listen to the track below.

Congrats to Lou on making the Hall of Fame finally and RIP. I really was bummed about his passing, he was my favorite artist for years.

Happy with the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees with the exception of…

… Green Day making it instead of NIN. Really???? Look like NIN got snubbed this year when they had a pretty good chance in making it.

I’m happy with Lou Reed solo making it in ’cause I’m a huge Lou Reed fan. I’m happy that Joan Jett & The Blackhearts making it in ’cause I’ve always been a fan of Joan’s music. I still need to get Joan’s music for my Ipod/Itunes… I’ll probably just get a Greatest Hits album of hers soon. I’m happy that SRV finally made it in which is long overdue. I’m happy that Ringo Starr finally made it in. The other three Beatles: Paul, John and George made it in with their solo careers but Ringo is the last Beatle finally getting his chance.

I haven’t even heard of the other acts, though… I don’t know who Paul Butterfield, Bill Withers and the 5 Royals are, though.

See the new inductees here:

https://rockhall.com/inductees/

I feel that Green Day doesn’t deserve it. I used to be a fan of the band back in the early 90’s and early 2000’s but I don’t like them anymore, though. Green Day is a bit overrated.

There are still a large number of rock acts that are deserving of an induction, though. Hopefully Deep Purple will finally get their time next year ’cause they are long overdue as well. Other rock bands/artists who deserve an induction that haven’t yet… a top 10: 1) Deep Purple 2) Jethro Tull 3) Ted Nugent 4) Billy Idol 5) Iron Maiden 6) Megadeth 7) Slayer 8) The Scorpions 9) U.F.O. 10) Phish

Yeah, I named Phish but love ’em or hate ’em… they are eligible and they are successful/legendary. Phish deserves an induction.

You’ve probably never heard of the band U.F.O. but they are a legendary UK band that made guitarist, Michael Schenker famous. You probably know them by their songs: “Rock Bottom”, “Lights Out” and “Doctor, Doctor”.
