See this Metallica video when they played their Antarctica show here…

What was Metallica’s Antarctica show like? Well this little video gives you a little preview. Shows you what the performance was like when you’re listening with or without headphones. Without headphones all you hear is just Lars drums and the fans cheering but with headphones on… you hear the whole band with the fans in the background. Pretty damn cool.

Love Metallica or hate ’em, you can’t deny this is unique and something different. Metallica did make history so congrats to them.

Could that area where they played at become a music venue for bands/artists? I wouldn’t be surprised. After the success of this show, I’m sure other bands and artists will want to follow so expect more to perform there.

Godzilla teaser stomps the internet!!!!

Wow!!! I used to be skeptical of the new upcoming “Godzilla” reboot but I’m very impressed with the new trailer. I’m sold to the movie, I think. The film looks like a thrill ride. Most movies about giant monsters are crap but this one looks awesome. I’m really hoping this movie turns out good.

Godzilla in this movie looks more realistic too. Doesn’t look as CGI/cartoonish.

I’m definitely down for this movie. Hell yes!

Finger style guitar… a little rant…

While I love finger style guitar on acoustic so much and have been doing a lot of it; however, they really hurt the tip of your fingers finger picking the strings all of the time. Finger picking on acoustic may be fun but you don’t wanna be doing it all of the time ’cause you can get nasty blisters and stuff. I’ve gotten a few before and almost got one right now. That’s why I try to let my finger nails on the right hand grow out a little more ’cause you can use the long fingernails good for finger picking.

Finger style guitar is awesome. People seem to enjoy me doing that too as my finger picking is getting some good feedback. I love finger style ’cause it’s easier to sing over and you can sing over it better.

That Sharon Van Etten song, “Love More” really was tough for me to learn. The secret to mastering a cover song is listening and try to match what you hear on the recording. On the “Love More” song toward the end when the word “more” is repeated that was the toughest part of the whole song as you can tell. That part maybe off key a little bit but it was a challenging song to sing.

When doing cover songs… I LOVE to challenge myself with the singing. I like to pick songs where the singing is difficult to do. I have also been hitting the high notes more as you have noticed.

More cover songs on the way. Next song will be “One” by U2 and “Royals” by Lorde will be coming up as well. I think the main reason why I’m doing cover songs more ’cause it’s my way of trying to sing better and it works. Covers really help you improve.

I’m gonna try some acepella singing as well… try singing without an instrument. I’m real focused on the vocals and taking it more seriously. I wanna sing better.

Jason Momoa in talks for major role in “Batman/Superman” movie but no one’s saying what role he is playing…

“Game of Thrones” star, Jason Momoa is in talks for a major unknown role in the upcoming, “Batman/Superman” movie by Zack Snyder and Warner Bros. For now, nobody’s talking on what role he is playing but it has been speculated that he could be playing a character named Doomsday or the Martian Manhunter.

More on the story, here.

I wouldn’t be too quick to judge that he could be playing a villain character ’cause of his muscular build. What if he could be playing a good guy too? He might even be the next Green Lantern or the Flash ’cause after all… this “Batman/Superman” is setting up for the upcoming, “Justice League” movie. Jason could be a decent Green Lantern or the Flash ’cause both of those characters have muscular physiques too. Just cut Jason’s long hair and shave his facial hair and Jason would make a great superhero! Maybe that’s why they’re being secretive on his role ’cause he could be playing one of the Justice League characters.

Macaulay Culkin forms Velvet Underground tribute band but…

Remember Macaulay Culkin that Home Alone kid? Apparently, he happens to be a huge Lou Reed fan himself. He just formed a Velvet Underground tribute band but re-wrote all the lyrics for them to be about pizza. The band’s name is The Pizza Underground so obviously this is a parody. The Pizza Underground parodied songs by the Velvet Underground and Lou’s solo material.

Listen to the demo of all the songs, here. Sounds pretty good actually!

If Lou was still alive, I’m sure he would have loved this and got a pretty good laugh out of it!

Hear me perform “Love More” by Sharon Van Etten…

I once said I was gonna perform this song a long time ago and I finally got around to learning it. Again, only 4 chords throughout this song but the song was VERY tough to sing. Sharon has a great voice and I did my best to make it sound close enough.

Never heard the original before? Youtube Sharon Van Etten, “Love More”, and you’ll find it. It’s a beautiful song.

Another love song but another great one.

Hope you enjoy!

Maybe the reason I still haven’t got a girlfriend yet is ’cause I’m too much of a coward to ask her out, admittedly…

Another great video by the PlayerSupreme.

In this video, he gives you the advice on what to do if you have a crush on a girl that you like… his simple answer… “ask her out”. Seems pretty easy, I guess. I think the reason I haven’t gotten a girlfriend yet or haven’t had much experience with them ’cause I’m admittedly shy around women… I’ll confess it but as you all can see,  I really am working on my confidence around them and trying to get better with them. It shouldn’t be that hard to ask her out at all. To ask a woman out you don’t wanna ask her out to dinner at a fancy restaurant right away. Taking her out to a fancy dinner is recommended but not right away. You want your first date with her to be something small like a coffee date or a lunch date at a diner with her or something like that.

I am already starting to have the confidence telling women to their face that they are beautiful/gorgeous and have the confidence to dance with them and stuff but I need to start asking them out. Next time a woman approaches me or I approach them I need to ask them out for a coffee/lunch date or something. I need to ask them out in person… say it to her face instead of asking her out in facebook, ya know? It’s pretty weird that if you meet a girl in person and guys end up asking her out in facebook. Women like it better when you ask them out to their face… they’ll respect you even more that you had the confidence to do that. If you ask her out in facebook instead of to her face, then she’ll immediately think you’re shy around women. Shouldn’t be that hard to ask women out to her face. Gotta learn that women won’t bite at all.

Check out his video. He gives the advice at 13:00, toward the end of the video.

When women talk to me or dance with me at band shows/parties… I’ll admit I had too many missed opportunities to ask her out… next time. Ask her out, Kev, ask her out dammit. Should be that easy!

If she’s not interested and she rejects you all of a sudden… move along to the next girl. Nothing to see there.

One more rant about being a struggling musician…

Ya know, every time I rant about my and other people’s music getting ignored by the local music scene… chances are some troll is gonna come around and say, “You should get the hint that no one likes your music.”. Too predictable, and it’s like I haven’t heard that one before. If that’s the reason that my music gets ignored by the local press and the scene — that’s all fine and good. Fuck ’em. Fuck ’em all.

The whole point I’m trying to make is that the scene makes a bunch of claims that they support “local music” in a positive direction but I’m absolutely not seeing it at all. They support all bands and artists to be friendly but my stuff is constantly overlooked. “Local music” shouldn’t be about who sucks and who is great. We all need to stop being fucking opinionated and support everyone. Stop being so hateful and spiteful to musicians who you think have no talent ’cause all it is it’s just an opinion — that’s it. “Local music” should be about getting together, creating a musical community of musicians and fans and playing each other songs. Keeping your negative opinions to yourself and just enjoy the moment of playing music. That’s what it should be about.

Instead it’s all a popularity contest around this area. Jealousy and ego goes crazy around here for sure. Absolutely. Too many musicians jerking themselves off and patting themselves on the back lately. What’s up with this?

People should be cool and nice enough to check my music out (even if they liked it or not). There are people like that indeed but NOT enough. It’s not about begging for respect and support. It’s about respecting all talent.

If you claim you support “local music”… then show it. Being dishonest is not showing it. The only reason people make lies that they support “local music” is so they can feel better for themselves and be loved by everyone aka attention seekers… pat themselves on the back.

I support “local music” greatly and I show it. I’m no fake like many are around here. I support all bands and musicians — I don’t lie about things.

I’m done posting on the blog for the day as I’m gonna get off and watch a movie or something. Have a good night!

Metallica played their unique concert in Antarctica today and here’s how it went…

Not too long ago, Metallica announced a surprising concert in Antarctica which would be held today on Dec. 8th. They just played their concert there. They played inside a dome out on the helipad of Carlini Station. The band played with headphones on and they couldn’t play with amplifiers. Why? It’s because of Antarctica, I would assume. I would think it would be hard to play loud music at an area like that because of the sound. Maybe another reason for no amplifiers is because of the nature part of Antartica… they don’t wanna distract the nature part of it like the animals and stuff there. They used solar power for electricity.

The band played a short set for a small amount of fans. They did a 10 song setlist of their greatest hits. Look like they did just their classic hits.

See, here for the photo gallery and setlist.

The band will probably release this show on DVD/BluRay ’cause I’ve seen guys with cameras in the photos. Looking forward to seeing how this show is going to sound.

This sounds like a cool show and I would have loved to been there to see it. As you can see, the Dome they’re playing in is covered with something to help keep out the wind and cold some.

btw, I don’t wanna see any smartass Kate Upton comments as they will get deleted anyway but these Metallica photos is pretty much proof that she couldn’t have stood half naked in Antarctica like this. If you look at the people inside the Dome… not a lot of people are wearing coats. People who are outside of the Dome are all bundled up so it must be pretty warm and cozy in that Dome. So yeah, I still stand by it that the Kate Upton photoshoot was fake.

Friendly reminder…

Ya know, your comments can get approved as long as they’re positive, joyful and adding value to the discussion. Trolling is not welcomed here. I don’t accept personal attacks or bashing of any kind. Disagree with my topics all you want to is fine but keep the response respectful.

Every time someone tries to reply here… they’re almost always a negative response. Why? It don’t hurt to be positive and joyful. Try it. I can be a fun and easy going guy if you talk to me how you’d like to be treated.

If you don’t like the way I write on my blog… then why continue to read and reply??? This is my site. I control it and write on it however I damn well please.

If there are people I don’t like, I get them out of my life and act like they’re dead to me. I have better things to do than obsess with the same person for years. I’m better than that. It don’t hurt to be civil.
